G4521 σάββατον sabbaton sab'-bat-on Of Hebrew origin [H7676]; the Sabbath (that is, Shabbath), or day of weekly repose from secular avocations (also the observance or institution itself); by extension a se'nnight, that is, the interval between two Sabbaths; likewise the plural in all the above applications:-sabbath (day), week.

Matthew 12:2(KJV) But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day.

For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.


Matthew 24:20(KJV) But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: .

The Romans surrounded Jerusalem in 70 A.D. and the Jews that fled were saved. Jesus told the Jews to flee Jerusalem when they saw the soldiers surround the city if not they would suffer great persecution and those that stayed unt through l a terrible time of trepidation.

Mar 1:21(KJV) And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught.


Mark 6:2(KJV) And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?


Luke 4:16(KJV) And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

Luke 13:14(KJV) And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.


Luke 23:56(KJV) And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

 

Acts 13:42(KJV) A when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles bethese words might be preached to them the next sabbath.

Matthew 26:2(KJV) Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.

 

Matthew 26:17(KJV) Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?

The Apostle is here speaking of Jewish fasts and festivals; and of course his observations do not regard the sabbath, which was instituted at the creation (Ge 2:3n); and which being a type of “the rest which remaineth for the people of God,” must continue in force, as all types do, till the antitype, or thing signified takes place, that is, till the consumation of all things.
