A Private Servant of God (1-19)

Obadiah was a secret servant of the Lord (his name means “servant of Yahweh”) and he used his position to bring aid to God’s prophets.

However, he was also fearful of the king’s power.

There comes a time for clear confrontation when those in power are committing evil. Elijah detailed the reason for the trouble in Israel.

A time for choosing. This is the day for boldly calling on the nation to either choose to follow the Lord or idols.

“Stop limping between two opinions.”

Mocking the false god and its ideology.

Preparation for prayer - repairing the place of God’s worship in order to petition him.

Preparation for the miracle - setting the stage for the glory of God to be revealed.

The Prayer itself - reveal your glory. Revive your people!

The preparation of rain. God sends both the fire and the rain.
