Schemes, methods, his M.O.
Today’s Lesson “The Devil’s Playbook”

PLAYBOOK: A high-level overview of the company's or team's strategy that can also include detailed instructions on how to carry out specific tasks.

For businesses this is very important
outlines policies, procedures, and guideline
(SOP) Standard Operating Procedure
organization's culture, values and beliefs.
In football for instance
a collection of a football team's plays and strategies, all compiled and organized into one book or binder. A team's playbook may be separated into sections for offensive plays, defensive plays and specials teams
Satan has a playbook as well. Design to Impede, obstruct the Gospel
Part of gaining spiritual understanding should be discovering the strategies of the adversary and using our information against him.
2 Corinthians 2:11 ESV
so that we would not be outwitted by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his designs.
Ephesians 6:11 ESV
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
Take 3 More Pages out of Satan’s Playbook
1. Failing to see how Evil, Evil is
2. The Art of Diversion
3. Jesus in NOT the only way

1) Failing to See How Evil, Evil Is

When we fail to see how evil, evil really is. And because of that, we recoil at God’s judgement.
When we speak of God’s Wrath and His Judgement.
Why would He ever do this?
Why would He ever respond in this way?
We respond in this way because we choose not to see that God is absolutely Holy.
Satan wants you to look at his action from your eyes.
We fail to realize that His eyes are way more pure than mine.

Satan’s Method of Sanitizing Evil

First we overlook evil.
Then we permit evil.
Then we legalize evil.
Then we promote evil.
Then we celebrate evil.
The we persecute those who still call it evil.
There are some who are more upset about preaching against sin, than the sin itself.
The Child of God is aware of this
Isaiah 5:20 ESV
Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!
2 Timothy 3:1–4 ESV
But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

2. The Art of Diversion

Instead of looking at the truth, look at the shinny object
Shinny object of church Growth
Church Attendance
Amount of Offering Given
Number of Programs Offered
Number of Staff Hired
Square footage of Church Building
Abscess Tooth
You can make a good argument for these. But this is not the reason Jesus came
1 Timothy 1:15 ESV
The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.
John 12:46 ESV
I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.
Hebrews 2:14 ESV
Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,

Jesus is Not the Only Way

John 14:6 ESV
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
When you see Jesus as more the just a prophet, people have a problem.
The exclusivity of this statement is the point of departure to a post-modern mentality, to a world of tolerance
In a world of approximately 4 thousand religions, how can you possible say the Jesus is the only way.
And the consequences of not accepting this is even more outrages.
Mag called the Christian Post.
Did a survey to Born Again Christians
70% believe you can be saved in other religions
Why don’t you share your faith:
Don’t want to impose religion on others
Don’t want to be judgmental
Why is it crucial that we do not tip-toe around this subject
John 8:24 ESV
I told you that you would die in your sins, for unless you believe that I am he you will die in your sins.”
2 Thessalonians 1:6–9 ESV
since indeed God considers it just to repay with affliction those who afflict you, and to grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might,
