The First Redeems The Rest

Matthew 6:33 NKJV
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
The principle of first:
There’s no other choice for us but to put God first
He cant’ accept your seconds
Jesus is the cornerstone which all other things have to be built upon
If we’re built upon Jesus he’ll make our ways straight
Proverbs 3:5–6 NKJV
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
Stand up straight:
Our first job is Jesus to be foundational in our live
Foundations are weighty
One translation says he’ll make your ways straight
Our ways fluctuate, our ways vary and change
He’ll keep us from being moved
Facts are subject to change
The world leans of facts/We stand on truth
There’s freedom in this
The deeper science can investigate the bigger God gets
We lean not on our own understanding
Most peoples biggest hang up with God is Faith
They lean on their own merit, their own virtue, their own understanding and what they can perceive
Hebrews 11:6 NKJV
6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
What are you seeking?
He rewards those who seek after Him
Are we seeking after Him First
Goes back to Matthew 6 to seek first!
He tells us how to seek
He makes it simple seek Him First
Why First?
The First Redeems the Rest
Since the beginning of time there had to be sacrifice to cover sin
Genesis 3:20–21 NKJV
20 And Adam called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all living. 21 Also for Adam and his wife the Lord God made tunics of skin, and clothed them.
Sin has and always will require something to cover it
We can try and hide it, lie about it, bury it but it will alway have to be redeemed
When Adam and Eve first sinned they hid themselves from God
They were suddenly aware and conscious of their sin
From the beginning blood had to be shed to cover sin
Type and Shadow for Jesus coming
OLD Covenant redemption
Exodus 13:11–13 NKJV
11 “And it shall be, when the Lord brings you into the land of the Canaanites, as He swore to you and your fathers, and gives it to you, 12 that you shall set apart to the Lord all that open the womb, that is, every firstborn that comes from an animal which you have; the males shall be the Lord’s. 13 But every firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb; and if you will not redeem it, then you shall break its neck. And all the firstborn of man among your sons you shall redeem.
Right off the bat they had to redeem every human and animal had to redeemed by a first born lamb
Another type and shadow of Jesus
Third book of the Bible we see the sin offering being established
Leviticus 4:35 NKJV
35 He shall remove all its fat, as the fat of the lamb is removed from the sacrifice of the peace offering. Then the priest shall burn it on the altar, according to the offerings made by fire to the Lord. So the priest shall make atonement for his sin that he has committed, and it shall be forgiven him.
Leviticus 16
The process of atonement:
Anointing with oil for the temple and the priest
A consecration
The animal was brought in to be sacrificed
They laid there hands on it and killed it
Took blood and put it on the alter to purify it
They poured blood at the base of the alter
Blood had to be put on the priest and sprinkled all around
They would make a wave offering
Then they would make a burnt offering
Not only did we ourselves have to be purchased at a price but our sin also had to be bought with the price of blood
The Blood redeems the rest
Hebrews 9:22 NKJV
22 And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission.
The Day of Atonement or Yom Kippur(NOW Celebrated)
This was a retroactive sacrifice
Which means: all the sins that you committed in the year prior was atoned for on a specific day
So from the very moment you made the sacrifice as atonement for sin, you were on the clock for the next year and now
This whole process would continue for OVER 1500 YEARS
But they continued sacrifices till the temple was destroyed in 70 A.D.
Sin was being paid for retroactively, momentarily and only temporarily
Then along comes Jesus:
Jesus was the firstborn to Mary
A spotless lamb
1 Peter 1:18–20 NKJV
18 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. 20 He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you
Jesus
The first Born
The son of God
Sacrificed and laid his life down as a final atonement as a completed work
The blood sacrifice he fulfills the requirement for our sins
Hebrews 12:2 NKJV
2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
The interesting thing about Jesus’ sacrifice is not only is it retroactive in our lives
But it becomes proactive for our future
For the joy that was set before Him
For what is to come from His blood
God’s first born become the redemption for everything that you’ve ever done
And it becomes atonement for everything you could ever do
John 15:16 NKJV
16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.
Jesus has and still is choosing you
How he has orchestrated stuff in my life even when I wasn’t choosing Him
No matter how far you run from Him he’s just waiting for you to choose him
1 John 4:19 NKJV
19 We love Him because He first loved us.
You can only imagine what God is doing behind the scenes for you but you have to choose him first
Luke 15:11–20 NKJV
11 Then He said: “A certain man had two sons. 12 And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me.’ So he divided to them his livelihood. 13 And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living. 14 But when he had spent all, there arose a severe famine in that land, and he began to be in want. 15 Then he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. 16 And he would gladly have filled his stomach with the pods that the swine ate, and no one gave him anything. 17 “But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! 18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, 19 and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants.” ’ 20 “And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.
