The regeneration of earthly life after the flood foreshadows the coming regeneration in the millennial kingdom of Jesus Christ. There are also interesting constrasts that are worth discovering.

The Noahic Covenant
God established a covenant with Noah.
COVENANT - Heb. berith; Grk. diatheke
Meaning - the Heb word refers to the imposition of an obligation upon another.
Definition - a sacred contractual arrangement between God and a person, or between 2 human parties, based on promises.
God blessed and commanded Noah and his sons - Genesis 9.1
1 Then God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth.
God defines the details of the covenant -
man will dominate creation through fear and dread - Genesis 9.2
2 The fear of you and the terror of you will be on every animal of the earth and on every bird of the sky; on everything that crawls on the ground, and on all the fish of the sea. They are handed over to you.
man can utilize animal meat for food - Gen 9.3
3 Every moving thing that is alive shall be food for you; I have given everything to you, as I gave the green plant.
but man must not eat meat with blood - Gen 9.4
4 But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.
also, man must not shed the blood of another human - Gen 9.5-7
5 I certainly will require your lifeblood; from every animal I will require it. And from every person, from every man as his brother I will require the life of a person.
6 “Whoever sheds human blood, By man his blood shall be shed, For in the image of God He made mankind.
7 “As for you, be fruitful and multiply; Populate the earth abundantly and multiply in it.”
God determines the coverage of the covenant - all flesh - Gen 9.8-10
8 Then God spoke to Noah and to his sons with him, saying,
9 “Now behold, I Myself am establishing My covenant with you, and with your descendants after you;
10 and with every living creature that is with you: the birds, the livestock, and every animal of the earth with you; of all that comes out of the ark, every animal of the earth.
God gives the sign of His covenant - a rainbow in the sky - Gen 9.11-17
11 I establish My covenant with you; and all flesh shall never again be eliminated by the waters of a flood, nor shall there again be a flood to destroy the earth.”
12 God said, “This is the sign of the covenant which I am making between Me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations;
13 I have set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall serve as a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth.
14 It shall come about, when I make a cloud appear over the earth, that the rainbow will be seen in the cloud,
15 and I will remember My covenant, which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and never again shall the water become a flood to destroy all flesh.
16 When the rainbow is in the cloud, then I will look at it, to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.”
17 And God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth.”

God repopulates the earth through Noah’s sons - Gen 10.1
1 Now these are the records of the generations of the sons of Noah: Shem, Ham, and Japheth; and sons were born to them after the flood.
The sons of Japheth - Gen 10.2-5
2 The sons of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.
3 The sons of Gomer were Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.
4 The sons of Javan were Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.
5 From these the people of the coastlands of the nations were separated into their lands, every one according to his language, according to their families, into their nations.

according to the Table of Nations (10:3–5 par. 1 Chr. 1:5–7), however, he is the ancestor of peoples to the north of Israel, including the Medes, Etruscans, and numerous Anatolian peoples.

The immediate descendants of J. were seven in number, and are represented by the nations designated Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Mesech, and Tiras; or, roughly, the Armenians, Lydians, Medes, Greeks, Tibarenians, and Moschians, the last, Tiras, remaining still obscure. The sons of Gomer (Ashkenaz, Riphath and Togarmah) were all settled in the West Asian tract; while the sons of Javan (Elisah, Tarshish, Kittim and Dodanim or Rodanim) occupied the Mediterranean coast and the adjacent islands.
The sons of Ham - Gen 10.6-20
6 The sons of Ham were Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.
7 The sons of Cush were Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca; and the sons of Raamah were Sheba and Dedan.
8 Now Cush fathered Nimrod; he became a mighty one on the earth.
9 He was a mighty hunter before the Lord; therefore it is said, “Like Nimrod a mighty hunter before the Lord.”
10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.
11 From that land he went to Assyria, and built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah,
12 and Resen between Nineveh and Calah; that is the great city.
13 Mizraim fathered Ludim, Anamim, Lehabim, Naphtuhim,
14 Pathrusim, Casluhim (from whom came the Philistines), and Caphtorim.
15 Canaan fathered Sidon, his firstborn, and Heth,
16 the Jebusite, the Amorite, the Girgashite,
17 the Hivite, the Arkite, the Sinite,
18 the Arvadite, the Zemarite, and the Hamathite; and afterward the families of the Canaanite were spread abroad.
19 The territory of the Canaanite extended from Sidon going toward Gerar, as far as Gaza; and going toward Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha.
20 These are the sons of Ham, according to their families, according to their languages, by their lands, and by their nations.

The sons of Shem - Gen 10.21-31
21 Also to Shem, the father of all the children of Eber, and the older brother of Japheth, children were born.
22 The sons of Shem were Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram.
23 The sons of Aram were Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash.
24 Arpachshad fathered Shelah; and Shelah fathered Eber.
25 Two sons were born to Eber; the name of the one was Peleg, for in his days the earth was divided; and his brother’s name was Joktan.
26 Joktan fathered Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,
27 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,
28 Obal, Abimael, Sheba,
29 Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab; all of these were the sons of Joktan.
30 Now their settlement extended from Mesha going toward Sephar, the hill country of the east.
31 These are the sons of Shem, according to their families, according to their languages, by their lands, and according to their nations.

The first attempt to create a one world government
1 Now all the earth used the same language and the same words.
2 And it came about, as they journeyed east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there.
3 Then they said to one another, “Come, let’s make bricks and fire them thoroughly.” And they used brick for stone, and they used tar for mortar.
4 And they said, “Come, let’s build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top will reach into heaven, and let’s make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered abroad over the face of all the earth.”

God confounded their plans
5 Now the Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the men had built.
6 And the Lord said, “Behold, they are one people, and they all have the same language. And this is what they have started to do, and now nothing which they plan to do will be impossible for them.
7 Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, so that they will not understand one another’s speech.”
8 So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth; and they stopped building the city.
9 Therefore it was named Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.

Hebrew - comes from the name Eber, the father of Peleg and Joktan

until this time the families of the Shem, Ham and Japheth were probably living close to one another, somewhere in present-day Turkey, the land where the ark settled after the flood

“few men left” - Isaiah 24.1-6
1 Behold, the Lord lays the earth waste, devastates it, twists its surface, and scatters its inhabitants.
2 And the people will be like the priest, the servant like his master, the female servant like her mistress, the buyer like the seller, the lender like the borrower, the creditor like the debtor.
3 The earth will be completely laid waste and completely plundered, for the Lord has spoken this word.
4 The earth dries up and crumbles away, the mainland dries out and crumbles away, the exalted of the people of the earth dwindle.
5 The earth is also defiled by its inhabitants, for they violated laws, altered statutes, and broke the everlasting covenant.
6 Therefore, a curse devours the earth, and those who live on it suffer for their guilt. Therefore, the inhabitants of the earth decrease in number, and few people are left.

31 “But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne.
32 And all the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, just as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats;
33 and He will put the sheep on His right, but the goats on the left.
34 “Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

In post-flood regeneration, God allowed the nations to form their own governments.
Human leaders, whether good or evil rulers, will give account to God
Rulers are servants of God - Romans 13.1-6
1 Every person is to be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.
2 Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves.
3 For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same;
4 for it is a servant of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a servant of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil.
5 Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for the sake of conscience.
6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for rulers are servants of God, devoting themselves to this very thing.

6 For a Child will be born to us, a Son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
7 There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of armies will accomplish this.
1 Then a shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch from his roots will bear fruit.
2 The Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him, The spirit of wisdom and understanding, The spirit of counsel and strength, The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.
3 And He will delight in the fear of the Lord, And He will not judge by what His eyes see, Nor make decisions by what His ears hear;
4 But with righteousness He will judge the poor, And decide with fairness for the humble of the earth; And He will strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, And with the breath of His lips He will slay the wicked.
5 Also righteousness will be the belt around His hips, And faithfulness the belt around His waist.
6 And the wolf will dwell with the lamb, And the leopard will lie down with the young goat, And the calf and the young lion and the fattened steer will be together; And a little boy will lead them.
7 Also the cow and the bear will graze, Their young will lie down together, And the lion will eat straw like the ox.
8 The nursing child will play by the hole of the cobra, And the weaned child will put his hand on the viper’s den.
9 They will not hurt or destroy in all My holy mountain, For the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord As the waters cover the sea.
10 Then on that day The nations will resort to the root of Jesse, Who will stand as a signal flag for the peoples; And His resting place will be glorious.
the saints will rule with Christ - Rev 20.4-6
4 Then I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark on their foreheads and on their hands; and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
5 The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. This is the first resurrection.
6 Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and will reign with Him for a thousand years.

For the Jewish people, the most awaited promise is the reign of Christ in the regeneration!
17 “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; And the former things will not be remembered or come to mind.
18 “But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create; For behold, I create Jerusalem for rejoicing And her people for gladness.
19 “I will also rejoice in Jerusalem and be glad in My people; And there will no longer be heard in her The voice of weeping and the sound of crying.
20 “No longer will there be in it an infant who lives only a few days, Or an old person who does not live out his days; For the youth will die at the age of a hundred, And the one who does not reach the age of a hundred Will be thought accursed.
21 “They will build houses and inhabit them; They will also plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
22 “They will not build and another inhabit, They will not plant and another eat; For as the lifetime of a tree, so will be the days of My people, And My chosen ones will fully enjoy the work of their hands.
23 “They will not labor in vain, Or give birth to children for disaster; For they are the descendants of those blessed by the Lord, And their descendants with them.
24 It will also come to pass that before they call, I will answer; while they are still speaking, I will listen.
25 The wolf and the lamb will graze together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox; and dust will be the serpent’s food. They will do no evil or harm on all My holy mountain,” says the Lord.
But for the Bride - our most awaited promise is the Lord Himself when He comes!
the millennial reign is just a reward - for the overcomes!
7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith;
8 in the future there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.
