Intro

This Sunday, we wrap up our series on Family Matters.
I would like to share with you today about the legacy your leave this world.
Psalm 78:4–8 NKJV
4 We will not hide them from their children, Telling to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, And His strength and His wonderful works that He has done. 5 For He established a testimony in Jacob, And appointed a law in Israel, Which He commanded our fathers, That they should make them known to their children; 6 That the generation to come might know them, The children who would be born, That they may arise and declare them to their children, 7 That they may set their hope in God, And not forget the works of God, But keep His commandments; 8 And may not be like their fathers, A stubborn and rebellious generation, A generation that did not set its heart aright, And whose spirit was not faithful to God.
Psalm 78:4–8 RVR60
As we discuss the family. It is important to consider the multi-generational aspect of family
I love this church family - because there are generations represented here.
If you are young, you have generations here that remind you who you are in Jesus. They encourage you to remember the praises and goodness of God.
If you are older, seasoned, experienced, share your testimonies with the younger generations. Encourage them to recognize the praises of God. Help them to see the testimonies of all God has done.
Genesis 50:22–26 NKJV
22 So Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he and his father’s household. And Joseph lived one hundred and ten years. 23 Joseph saw Ephraim’s children to the third generation. The children of Machir, the son of Manasseh, were also brought up on Joseph’s knees. 24 And Joseph said to his brethren, “I am dying; but God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land to the land of which He swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.” 25 Then Joseph took an oath from the children of Israel, saying, “God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones from here.” 26 So Joseph died, being one hundred and ten years old; and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.
Genesis 50:22–26 RVR60
22-23: Joseph was with his family for generations. He spends time with his grandkids and great grandkids.
24: Joseph declares to the next generation something I pray we are able to receive this morning.
He is at the end of his life, with all his experiences, and many things that he passed on to those who would follow.
As his time was coming to a close, he did not have a negative view, but one of blessing.
25: Joseph declares to the generations to follow that God would reconcile them to Himself, and told them to take him with them.
He recognized that God was doing something in them that would be bigger than even what happened in him years before.
