Repentance is a critical aspect of salvation.

We see it was the Gospel that Paul preached.
It was the message John the Baptist preached: Mark 1:4 “John appeared, baptizing in the wilderness and proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.”
It was the message of Jesus: Luke 5:32 “I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.””
Jesus said in Luke 13:3 “No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”
A gospel that does not include repentance is a false gospel.

What is Repentance?

The word “repent” in the Greek was used as a military turn. It means “an about face” or to “turn from something to something.”

What is the Difference Between Being Sorry and Repenting?

Being sorry can simply mean that you feel bad for something.
Repenting means that you renounce what you did and turn away from it.

What is Biblical Repentance?

Biblical repentance is turning from two things:
Self-trust
Self-Lordship

Why is Repentance so Difficult?

We love our sin.
We believe the lie that we are good.
We have pride in what we think we have accomplished.

How Do I Repent?

Confess your sinfulness.
Believe in Jesus and the work He accomplished on the cross.
Surrender to His Lordship.
Put your trust in Him alone for salvation.
