God’s Immanence

What does the Immance of God mean?

The technical term used to speak of God’s involvement in creation is the word immanent meaning “remaining in” creation.
Grudem, W. A.
Ephesians 4:6 (NIV)
one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
Ps 139:17-18
17 How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! 18 Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand— when I awake, I am still with you.
The meaning of immanence is that God is present and active within his creation, and within the human race, even in those of its members who do not believe in or obey him. His influence is everywhere.
Millard J. Erickson
Roughly, God’s transcendence means that he is “up there,” and his immanence means that he is “down here.”
