Frist John chapter 2: 18-27
Last week John was warning people about not loving the world and what it has to offer, pride of life, lust of the flesh and eyes. This next part John warns and encourages the people to hold on to the true teaching about Jesus that he is the Christ the son of God, that they heard from the beginning. That they may not be deceived by false teachers and antichrists.
PPT Last time Paul, (James), Peter and Jude write it is the last hour, days, time, and that false teachers, and people will reject the truth and fall away, and scoffers will mock who Jesus is, and lead people astray away from Jesus. (Most will not deny Jesus but change who he is).
John takes that as a sign it is the last hour, that many antichrists has come. But who were they? And where did they come from? The sad part, John writes that the false teachers deny that Jesus is the Christ, they came from inside the (people of God) the church, but by grace the left, that it might be see that they were not a part of the believers. But still spreading false teaching.
Verse 20-21
John states why he writes to the people, to encourage them in what is right and true, and remind them that they were anointed by Jesus and in him have all knowledge. Jesus is the one that has been teaching them by the Holy Spirt. Then don’t trust in people that say that Jesus is not the Christ, he is and that has made a way for all who would come, by his life death, resurrection and coming back, we can be cleansed by his blood, and redeemed. NO, the true teaching about Jesus is that he is indeed the Christ. And He is the truth, in in him there is no lies. The son of God, eternal with the father divine, 2ed member of the 3-1.
The contrast to Jesus is the antichrist that are full of lies, and the mane lie is the denial that Jesus is the Christ. And not only do they deny Jesus, but they also reject the Father that send the Son. There is no big mystery, the people that deny that Jesus is the Christ are antichrists. They love the world and the love of the Father is not in them. As one commentary said, they are disciples of the devil, spreading lies and false teaching to draw away people form the real Jesus.
The opposite is true of the one that has trusted that Jesus as the Christ, he also has the Father that send Jesus.
24. Hold on to what you hear about Jesus and let it abide in you. The true teaching from Jesus, if they do that then, you will also abide stay in Jesus the Son and in the father. (If you love me obey my commandments). And what is the promise as John also wrote last time, eternal life. Live for the eternal the will of God. Don’t be led astray.
In 26 John writes because the antichrists will try to deceive, - don’t listen to them but instead listen to Jesus and the teaching and the anointing (Holy Spirt) that they received from Him, abides in them, and they don’t need other teachers that teach agist what Jesus has said. No, they are to trust in the what Jesus has revealed by the Holy Spirt, everything that is true, reject the lies and stand in the truth of Jesus teaching.
What about you? Do you know who Jesus is? That he is the Christ, the savoir, the one that was promised long ago, that would redeem at make things right again, - gospel
Who do you listen to? Last week it was the don’t trust the world, the flesh, devil, what Preachers do you listen to? Are they speaking truthfully about Jesus? God and the Holy Spirt? Are they changing the truth to promote there lies?
There are plenty of antichrist in the world today, many deny Jesus is Christ. Many try to lead people astray, by all kinds of tricks and so on….
Have you been anointed by Jesus? received the Holy Spirt, Have you been taught by the Holy Spirt? Then stay in the right way. Loving Jesus worshipping him by the Holy Spirt to the Glory of the Father.
