34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.
Love of Neighbors
Love of Self

Matthew 5:43–45 ESV
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
Which of these loves had been abandoned?
What is their first love?
Receiving God’s love to give to others. 1 John 4:19.
Revelation 2:5
Revelation 2:5 ESV
5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.
Jesus’ solution to kindling love:
Remember - God’s love
Repent - of forgetting and not practicing receiving and giving God’s love.
Repeat - Keep receiving and giving God’s love.
Jesus’ Consequence:
If we, the local church, quit receiving and giving God’s love, we will die as a church - the lampstand which holds the lamp of the Spirit will be removed.
Revelation 2:6.
Revelation 2:6 ESV
6 Yet this you have: you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.
Jesus’ Commendation:
They hate the works of the Nicolaitans.

We are more conquers in God’s love.
Romans 8:35-37.
Romans 8:35–37 ESV
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
We are given the tree of life in the paradise of God. Genesis 2:9; Ezekiel 28:13; 31:8; Revelation 22:2.
Jesus’ solution to kindling love:
