Rise Above and Overcome!

There are foods that satisfy, and there are foods that fulfill.
I want to show you the differences between three types of food found in the bible.
A milk that tastes like fulfillment
A food that satisfies.
A food that fulfills.
We do things in life to stop pain or to satisfy a desire.
You could say pain and pleasure are what motivates us.
Example:
Why do you eat?
How do you know you are hungry?
Pain or Cravings...
Is the fact that you are hungry a bad thing?
So why is that we try to stop doing bad things by trying to kill our hunger?
Milk that tastes like fulfillment.
1 Corinthians 3:2–3 (NASB95)
2 I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able, 3 for you are still fleshly. For since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking like mere men?
Milk is things like encouragement, prophecy, healings, revelations...
Milk is Father’s mercy given to those who are in need of love.
What happens is people get used to God’s love coming to them in church. They start to get unsatisfied so they just demand more milk. You or they start to say things like
“I wish this church had more teaching”
“I wish this church had this program or that program”
“I just want the pastor to give me some meet.”...
That person gave me something I like so why wont they give me more?
Milk is getting fed by another.
Milk that tastes like fulfillment = Mercy
Worship:
For some of you worship time at a church service has been the closest you ever felt to God.
That was a type of milk.
You were in a room where people were worshiping together and the presence of God was satisfying to your heart and soul.
Eventually that same kind of worship looses its fulfillment.
Your soul is craving more, and that is a good thing. It lets you know you are hungry.
A good parent will ween their kids off of milk when it is time to get more nutrition from something solid.
What if Father is a good parent and He has been weening you off of Him or sending others to feed you?
Food that satisfies: Outside In Food
This is an outside in type of food, anything that comes from outside of you that you bring into your body or life.
Literal food and drink
Things that satisfy the flesh:
Vacations, hobbies, projects, entertainment, comedy, relationships with people, pets...
Phones, Drugs, alcohol, pleasure...
If you are finding yourself unable to fulfill the hunger inside you, then you are feasting on Outside In food.
Food that Fulfills: Inside Out Food
John 4:32–34 (NASB95)
32 But He said to them, “I have food to eat that you do not know about.” 33 So the disciples were saying to one another, “No one brought Him anything to eat, did he?” 34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work.
The Greek word for Food here is: G1035 brosis
- solid food, including animal meat, contrasted with liquid
- soul’s food, a food that refreshes the soul.
Has your soul been refreshed?
Meat is doing the will of Father.
Jesus was filling up His soul as He was loving, confronting and encouraging the Samaritan woman at the well.
So if milk is experiencing worship or getting prophesied too then Food that Fulfills is worshiping when your empty or prophesying when someone else needs it.
It is very clear here that we think meat is getting and Jesus says meat is doing the will of Father.
What is prey?
Numbers 14:8–9 (NASB95)
8 “If the Lord is pleased with us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us—a land which flows with milk and honey. 9 “Only do not rebel against the Lord; and do not fear the people of the land, for they will be our prey. Their protection has been removed from them, and the Lord is with us; do not fear them.”
What is prey?
- Biblical prey is a threat turned into food for the nations.
David killed a lion, killed a bear, killed a giant, and these were all food that fulfilled him.
Biblical prey is something in pre food form that will become meat to eat.
Prey is something that is in way of where you are called to go.
You and God destroying prey will fulfill you from the inside out.
- A threat turned into food for the nations.
What is trying to eat at you?
What is between you and your destiny?
Example:
Say you wrestle with depression.
God’s will for you is to encourage and be there for the depressed.
You then say that how can I help the depressed when I myself have not overcome that?
Ask God to be with you and take on the Lie(prey) and you will now start to be fulfilled.
You will find that your connection with God and those people fulfills you for more than the small satisfaction of self loathing and what ever it is you do when you are depressed.
Hunger is not your prey
What is between you and your part in Father’s dream coming true?
That is your prey.
You may think stopping that habit will fulfill you. It won’t.
There is something that Father is wanting you to face or do, that is what will fulfill that hunger that you are filling with that habit.
This is your testimony
Testimonies literally feed your soul and spirit.
They bring life to you and those around you.
Your testimony is milk or a taste of fulfillment for others.
There is a food that fulfills us, and that food is probably on the other side of what you fear.
Food that fulfills = Grace
Closing:
There are foods that satisfy, and there are foods that fulfill.
The type of food that only satisfies comes from outside in and only feed the flesh.
The type of food that fulfill us come from Father to us and from Jesus within us.
Milk that tastes like fulfillment = Mercy
Food that satisfies = outside in food
Food that fulfills = Grace
Of the three types of food described, I think most of us are looking for a food the refreshed the soul and fulfills us.
The food that fulfills us probably on the other side of what you fear.
What is Father’s will for you right now?
What you not doing that you know God wants you to do or face?
What are you doing that Father never asked you to do that is wearing you down?
Who is God asking you to give milk to?
Give other what you want.

1 Corinthians 10:3–5 NASB95
3 and all ate the same spiritual food; 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink, for they were drinking from a spiritual rock which followed them; and the rock was Christ. 5 Nevertheless, with most of them God was not well-pleased; for they were laid low in the wilderness.
1 Corinthians 13:8–13 NASB95
8 Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part; 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away. 11 When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known. 13 But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.
1 Samuel 30:6 NASB95
6 Moreover David was greatly distressed because the people spoke of stoning him, for all the people were embittered, each one because of his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.
Matthew 11:28–30 NASB95
28 “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29 “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
1 Samuel 14:25–30 NASB95
25 All the people of the land entered the forest, and there was honey on the ground. 26 When the people entered the forest, behold, there was a flow of honey; but no man put his hand to his mouth, for the people feared the oath. 27 But Jonathan had not heard when his father put the people under oath; therefore, he put out the end of the staff that was in his hand and dipped it in the honeycomb, and put his hand to his mouth, and his eyes brightened. 28 Then one of the people said, “Your father strictly put the people under oath, saying, ‘Cursed be the man who eats food today.’ ” And the people were weary. 29 Then Jonathan said, “My father has troubled the land. See now, how my eyes have brightened because I tasted a little of this honey. 30 “How much more, if only the people had eaten freely today of the spoil of their enemies which they found! For now the slaughter among the Philistines has not been great.”
Psalm 23:4–6 NASB95
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Hebrews 5:12–13 NASB95
12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food. 13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant.

1 act of eating. 1a in a wider sense, corrosion.
2 that which is eaten, food, ailment.
2a of the soul’s food, either which refreshes the soul, or nourishes and supports it.
solid food, including animal meat, contrasted with liquid (1Co 3:2; 10:3; Heb 9:10)
Numbers 14:8–9 NASB95
8 “If the Lord is pleased with us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us—a land which flows with milk and honey. 9 “Only do not rebel against the Lord; and do not fear the people of the land, for they will be our prey. Their protection has been removed from them, and the Lord is with us; do not fear them.”
Prey = H3899
The KJV translates Strong's H3899 in the following manner: bread (237x), food (21x), meat (18x), shewbread (with H6440) (5x), loaves (5x), shewbread (with H4635) (3x), shewbread (2x), victuals (2x), eat (1x), feast (1x), fruit (1x), provision (1x).
bread, food, grain
A. bread
1. bread
2. bread-corn
B. food (in general)
All solid food as opposed to liquid food.
Bread = ?
What does Jesus mean by this bread?
Bread = Littoral food, food for your body to live and thrive.
Bread of Presence was twelve loaves of bread behind the curtain of the temple. They were only for the priests.
Bread of Presence = Presence of God, food for your spirit to thrive.
Saul around the prophets came alive.
The disciples seeing and experiencing the healings of Jesus and their time with Jesus.
Bread = word of God, food for your soul to thrive.
Bread = doing the will of God.
When you put into actions what God has given you to use it feeds all three, your body, soul and spirit.
This is a bread that you become for others. You are His body broken for those in need.
When you encourage someone you become that bread for others.
One of the reasons that Jesus tells them to pray like this daily is so you want live your life desperate.
If you are hungry in any of those parts of you, you will look to fill those places rather than become a blessing to others.
I personally think it is an all inclusive phrase to cover all we need for what is immediately to follow.
Bread that feeds your body.
Bread that feeds your spirit
Bread that feeds your soul
and bread that you become to feed others.
