Guilt free clean
Psalm 32:1–5 NIV
1 Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. 2 Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit. 3 When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. 4 For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. 5 Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.” And you forgave the guilt of my sin.

did not cover up / I uncovered my sin and God covered it?
And you forgave the guilt of my sin.
6 things you do with your guilt:
You blame shift / it is not my fault
Define it away. It is not really wrong.
Deaden yourself to it / medicate it / do pleasurable things to forget about the pain
Criticize and gossip and run other ppl down /
We don’t trust politicians but then vote them back in.
It’s seems like it is important to us all that everyone is a crook, it makes us feel better about ourselves.
Everyone one is sleeping around more than me, Everyone is breaking promises more than me
Why do we love documentaries and reality shows that show ppl more jacked up than us? Why do we love a good personal train wreck of others lives?
You try to achieve
You give incredibly generously
Start non-profit / send letter to pro sports people / guilt money
Let’s get to the root of what guilt is all about.
Genesis 2:25 NIV
25 Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.
Genesis 3:7–11 NIV
7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. 8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” 10 He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.” 11 And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”
When they sinned they could not take transparency. All of a sudden Adam and Eve could not stand being looked at. They had to control what ppl saw, they had to cover up and hid well.
What is nakedness? You can’t control what others see. You can’t control nakedness. You can’t put enough make-up on to cover nakedness.
Some theologians say the reason why Adam and Eve hid because they lost their original clothing which was their original righteousness. See before they sinned they were clothed with moral beauty. The minute they lost that righteousness they could not stand being seen. And what did they have to do. They began to cover.
Look at your life in light of Genesis 3.
Why are some of us perfectionist? Why are some of us workaholics? Why are some of us so concerned about how we look? Why are some many of us doing all the things we have talked about like blame shifting, being cynical of other ppl, we are covering. We are covering our nakedness?
Proverbs 28:13 NIV
13 Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
Psalm 32:1 NIV
1 Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.
Forgiven
Psalm 32:2 NIV
2 Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit.

Romans 13:14 NIV
14 Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.
John 19:23–24 NIV
23 When the soldiers crucified Jesus, they took his clothes, dividing them into four shares, one for each of them, with the undergarment remaining. This garment was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom. 24 “Let’s not tear it,” they said to one another. “Let’s decide by lot who will get it.” This happened that the scripture might be fulfilled that said, “They divided my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment.” So this is what the soldiers did.
