Coming for Something Good
There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
You all came here for something good tonight
You will get to see your kid sing some songs, say some verses
We will get to see a video showing all the fun things they did this week
You came here to see your kids get awards
Maybe you came here for the food and the bounce houses that we’ll enjoy afterwards
All of this is good
We are kind of like this woman we read of in verse 7
She came to a well to draw some water.
How many like water?
So this woman came to the right place to get water…a well
She begins having a conversation with Jesus
Many things He is saying confuses her
(Discuss the events of the account)
She came for water but left with something so much better!
She left with living water
Many young people came to Summer Bible Time for a good time
But left with so much more
Many of us may have come here this evening for something good, but please will leave with something better
When I was a kid, my dad, brother, and I went to Best Buy. I can’t remember what we were going there for. But Best Buy is a pretty fun place to go as a kid. You get to look at all the electronics and gizmos and gadgets.
As we were just meandering through the store our eyes were drawn to a beautiful TV. But this was no ordinary TV…This was a 3D TV. We begged my dad to get it and he said that he would call mom to see if it was ok (thinking she would say no). He got off the phone and said, “She said yes...” 20 minutes later we were hauling out a brand new 3D TV. We went in for something good but left with something so much better.
