welcome to hybrid family and welcome if your new here, we are in a series unpacking the impliactions of salvation and today were going to speak about the holy spirit. How the dealth and resurrection of jesus made the Holy Spirit aviable to all so that we can have life. I love how from beginning to the end the holy spirit is activly engaing in bring life to broken situtations.

Thank you Holy Spirit I ask you fill everyone tonight with your power, wisdom and love so that we call all become like christ in word and deed an bring order where there is choas.
I Recently was seating with my family, i has having a conversation with my mother about the night i got filled with the holy spirit and what happened that night was i was at prayer / fellowship with a group of young men and the house was called core house. I was just in a dark place and in so much pain and i remeber seating on the couch and saying to the lord. i want to follow you and i got up whatever i need to go gave up to follow you i will. I Got up started sharing this with the group of men and pastor samuel teka came up to me and started praying for me and i saw a vision and in the the vision was a cross and i heard a whisper tell me everything is temporary but im eternal and i felt Gods presence and i felt Gods love fill my heart. something i didnt know was that same night my mother was waiting for me like all habesha mother do even though it was like 10:30 Pm and she was falling alseep but she was trying to stay up until i got home. but evenually she was so tired she fell alseep and she had a dream in the dream she saw a light skin man pouring annioting oil all over me. Whats crazy is she had the dream the same time i was being prayed for by pastor samuel teka. She told me just has God annioting me. Just a sidenote my mother isnt evangelical shes oxodocy. My whole life changed when Holy spirit filled me, he set me apart and helped me overcome so much challeges and without him i would not be here.

I want you to imagine standing at the feet of jesus in his cruxifaction, The apostle John tells us when he as a eye witness says to us he say blood and water coming from the side of our Lord jesus christ. The blood was symbolic of forgiveness of sins but what about the water, the water was symbolic for the holy spirit.

The boat isnt enough the water is salt and he gets so hygrated that he also dies. You see the lifeboat wasnt enough he needed water to survive. The scriptures tell us that jesus doesnt just offer a lifeboat he offers water.
Jesus knew you needed both his blood and his Spirt, his forgiveness and power, his cleansing of guilt and shame and his power to like a trasnformed life.

I love going for walks in beautiful areas, i specially love areas around the river because this beauitful will order homes right beside like the chao forest. You see beautiful homes that are well kept and managed and you aslo see the forest and river thats full of potential. It reminds me of genesis because Gods looks at potential which are the choatic waters and brings a ordered garden. If you pay close attention you will what God uses to bring the life, order and beauty in the world. In genesis, The word spirit is protrayed as breath, In the beginning, genesis tells us Gods spirit was hovering over the waters and when Gods spoke his words the spirit brought them to life. We see when Gods words and spirited are activitly partnering together to bring about order,life and beauty to creation.

in the story of coach carter, his moved by compassion for his people and where he came form and he decides to coach the basketball team thats full of potential but they need displine and hard work and encouraged and someone who belives in them. He reoridates there prioritys from just basketball to place admeciac excellence and they not only win the basketball champtionship but some of them get scholarship to go to college. Just imagine if coach carter said its not my problem or imagine where those tem would be but through the paretnership of the coach and team something beautiful came about. In the same way we the holy spirit his our couch and without him we lost and we let our potemtial die.

Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon.
When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?” (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.)
The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.)
Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”
“Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?”
Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.”
He told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.”
“I have no husband,” she replied.
Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.”
“Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet.
The women thought jesus was only talking about natural water but the water was symbolic of Gods spirit and Jesus knew her brokeness and dryness and thristiness and his gift for her problems was the holy spirit to come and live inside her to help her and nourish her. Thats why John say the water coming from the side of jesus becasue the spirit wasnt just going to be given to isreal but the spirit was going to be poured out on all people to make them new and help and guild them

That why the spirit is called a helper, it’s someone Who is a partner just like Eve, Me and faith were recently reflecting on our first year of marriage and we both asked the question how was the first year for you and with surprsed looks we both said Good, I Remember when i asked faith to go to coffee and i dm her i didnt know the journey ahead, in the beginnibg I Remember before dating faith i thought i was mature then i was but when you get in a realtionship with somone every dimiastion of your life needs to improve and you start see flaws like you think your spiritual mature, but emotional, social, finial, physicla and it both challegeing and nothings makes a sweet relationship that that journey you take with someelse. I think this is a picture of our realtionship with the holy spirit, He comes in and he builds a life with us through relationship he starts transforming every diminsiation of our lifes.

The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.
jesus reminds us the The words of God displayed in the scriptures are not merely human thought and ideas but are divinely breathed by the holy spirit and have the capcity to give life and are intented to give life.
Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The apostle paul give the church in ephesionas clear instruction how they can live a life influenced by the holy spirit and he instructs them to sing songs influnenced by scriptures and that are genuine expressions of there heart to the lord. Thats why we worship because we want to be filled with his presence.
We are called to enagaing in Gods Word which are spirited breathed and engaing in worship which in spirit and truth and as we enaging in his word and worship we will be filled with his spirit and presence.

When the samaritain women saw jesus was a phophet she asks a question about worship and he asks where should we worship God? Listen to jesus respond to her question
Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.”
“Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

Im just going ask us to stand!
I know that all of us have brokeness and are all on the journey of becoming like christ inch by inch by the help and support of his spirit but let us remeber where our help comes from and let us not forget that he knows but he calls us to look to him to ask as solomon asked and praise like david praise becuase in humblity is where we ask the God of our fathers to fill us with his spirit and empower us to bring order in all the choas we find ourshelves. Let us rasie our hands and ask him to fill us with his presence as we sing songs of praise and worship from our hearts.
