Exodus 4:5

In v.5 we find the phrase:
“That they may believe...”
How does belief come?
Romans 10:17 “17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
So we need a Bible!
We need a Bible that has…
Stood the tests of time. (1611 until now)
Stood the tricks of translations. (Outsells 5 times more than all)
Stood the teachings of traitors. (people who used to believe)
When Moses is sent back to Egypt we see these PICTURES of God’s Book:

I. Inspiration. v.15

And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.
2 Tim 3:16
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
Why God gave us the Book:
“Profitable” (occurs 13 times in 12 verses)
1st occurrence:
Job 22:2 “Can a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself?”
Definition: useful to God
Doctrine that is profitable to God. (Doctrine - Instruction and confirmation in the truths of the gospel)
Reproof that is profitable to God. (“Reproof” - Blame directed to a person)
Correction that is profitable to God. (Correction - The act of correcting)
Instruction that is profitable to God. (Instruction - informing the understanding in that of which it was before ignorant)

II. Preservation. v.28

And Moses told Aaron all the words of the LORD who had sent him, and all the signs which he had commanded him.
Psalm 12:6-7
6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
Seven = completeness and perfection
7 languages of God’s Book:
Hebrew

7 English translations of God’s Book:

III. Interpretation. v.30

And Aaron spake all the words which the LORD had spoken unto Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.
2 Timothy 4:2
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
Three things every preacher knows to do:
Reprove - Blame directed to a person
Rebuke - Affliction for the purpose of restraint and correction
Exhort - To use words or arguments to incite to good deeds
Two things preachers don’t seem to know:
Lonsuffering - Bearing injuries or provocation for a long time (part of the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23)
Doctrine - Instruction and confirmation in the truths of the gospel
Isaiah 55:6–8 (KJV)
6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
v.6 shows when
7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
v.7 shows Who
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
v.8 shows what
Isaiah 8:20
To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
The Bible interprets the Bible!
1 Corinthians 2:9-16

IV. Application. v.31

And the people believed: and when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.
James 1:22–24
22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
What a mirror shows:
True self.
Imperfections.
Age.
When used properly it is a great tool for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in right living.

Conclusion:

Do you have God’s Book in hand?
Do you read God’s Book daily asking Him to show you things in it?
Do you study Gods Book daily with Him teaching you?
Do you pray God’s Book back to Him daily?
