Luke 21:5-19
5 Some of his disciples were remarking about how the temple was adorned with beautiful stones and with gifts dedicated to God. But Jesus said, 6 "As for what you see here, the time will come when not one stone will be left on another; every one of them will be thrown down." 7 "Teacher," they asked, "when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are about to take place?" 8 He replied: "Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, `I am he,' and, `The time is near.' Do not follow them. 9 When you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away." 10 Then he said to them: "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11 There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven. 12 "But before all this, they will lay hands on you and persecute you. They will deliver you to synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors, and all on account of my name. 13 This will result in your being witnesses to them. 14 But make up your mind not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves. 15 For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. 16 You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers, relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death. 17 All men will hate you because of me. 18 But not a hair of your head will perish. 19 By standing firm you will gain life.

It was a comment about the beauty of the temple that moved Jesus to make a prophesy about things to come.
· Jesus looked at the events in history with the eyes of faith and he saw things that other people did not see.
· He saw the difficult times that were coming for church.
· Persecution, Suffering, false teachings, deceivers.
· And Jesus was completely honest with his disciples:
· If you choose to follow me, you will be persecuted.
· Jesus does not offer us an easy way out of trouble in difficult times.
· But He Promises to be with us in the struggle.
· We have His promise that his disciples will never meet their tribulations alone.
· His promise, “I will never leave you nor forsake you!” is with us in every situation of life.
· When we experience pain -- physical or spiritual -- Christ suffers with us.
· When we experience uncertainty -- and there is so much of that in our world -- He holds our hand.
· Jesus gives us the promise of safety that goes beyond our earthly understanding.
· “Not one hair on your head will be harmed.”
· “By standing firm you will have life.”
· Our salvation rests in the promise of God.

· As we approach the Advent season let us be reminded of the great Advent of our Lord and Saviour, when we will be united with Him in all eternity.
· Let us also hold on to His promise
· If we have Jesus, we are not alone.
· Whatever trials or tribulations may come our way -- Jesus is with us.
· He walks with us, He carries our burden.
· Therefore, let us stand firm in the Faith.
· Let us hold on to God’s word.
Jesaja 65:17-25
17 Denn siehe, ich will einen neuen Himmel und eine neue Erde schaffen, dab man der vorigen nicht mehr gedenken und sie nicht mehr zu Herzen nehmen wird. 18 Freuet euch und seid fröhlich immerdar über das, was ich schaffe. Denn siehe, ich will Jerusalem zur Wonne machen und sein Volk zur Freude, 19 und ich will fröhlich sein über Jerusalem und mich freuen über mein Volk. Man soll in ihm nicht mehr hören die Stimme des Weinens noch die Stimme des Klagens.
21 Sie werden Häuser bauen und bewohnen, sie werden Weinberge pflanzen und ihre Früchte essen. 22 Sie sollen nicht bauen, was ein anderer bewohne, und nicht pflanzen, was ein anderer esse. Denn die Tage meines Volks werden sein wie die Tage eines Baumes, und ihrer Hände Werk werden meine Auserwählten genieben. 23 ... denn sie sind das Geschlecht der Gesegneten des HERRN, und ihre Nachkommen sind bei ihnen. 24 Und es soll geschehen: ehe sie rufen, will ich antworten; wenn sie noch reden, will ich hören. 25 Wolf und Schaf sollen beieinander weiden; der Löwe wird Stroh fressen wie das Rind, aber die Schlange mub Erde fressen. Sie werden weder Bosheit noch Schaden tun auf meinem ganzen heiligen Berge, spricht der HERR.
· Dieser Abschnitt aus dem Alten Testament deutet auf die Endzeit hin.

· In einer Zeit, wo wir in der Welt hin und her gerissen werden, vernehmen wir das Versprechen Gottes, dass alles anders werden wird.
· Alles, wie wir es jetzt kennen, wird zu Ende kommen.
· Die Ungerechtigkeit, Krieg, Streit, die Schmerzen.
· Alles wird neu werden!
· Dieser Verheissung duerfen wir, als Kinder Gottes, mit freudiger Erwartung entgegenschauen.
· Diese Verheissung ist ein maechtiges Zeugnis der Hoffnung, die wir als Glaeubige haben.
· Es ist die Hoffnung auf eine neue Zukunft, die nicht von Menschen regiert und gepraegt wird.
· Eine Zukunft, die nicht von Menschen sondern von Gott bestimmt wird.
· Eine Zukunft, in der die ganze Schoepfung erloest wird und zu ihrem auserlesenen Zweck zurueck kehrt.
· Wo es kein Leiden mehr gibt
· Keine Kriege und Zerstoerung der Voelker.
· Eine Zukunft, wo sogar der Loewe mit dem Schaf Gemeinschaft pflegen wird.
· Im Glauben an die Neue Zukunft, ein neuer Himmel und eine Neue Erde, werden wir als Nachfolger Christi schon in dieser Zeit aufgefordert, die Veraenderung durch Jesus Christus zu erleben.
· Unsere Hoffnung ist nicht auf diese Welt gesetzt: nicht auf die Politik, nicht Healthcare, nicht das Schulsystem, oder die Waffen unseres Landes.

· Unsere Hoffnung ruht allein auf die Verheissungen Gottes.
· Auf das Erloesungswerk unseres Heilandes.
· Auf die Auferstehung von den Toten.
· Auf die Macht der Liebe und Barmherzigkeit Gottes fuer uns Menschen.
· Unsere Sicherheit, ja unsere Erloesung, ist in Gott.
· Lasst uns mit hoffnungsvoller Erwartung diese Zeit entgegenruecken, die der Prophet Jesaja hier beschreibt.
Der Herr schenke uns das aus Gnaden.
