Absicht und Erklärung
Der Gottesdienst heute abend ist als ein nachsinnlicher
Gottesdienst geplannt.
Das wird sich heute vieleicht ungewöhnt spüren.
Wir werden durch Bibellesungen und Lieder,
und besonders auch durch die zunehmende Dunkelheit,
durch die Verfinsterung des Saales
und durch das Auslöschen der Kerzen,
mit Jesus durch das dunkle Todestal geführt werden.
Und so werden in uns starke Gefühle geweckt werden,
die uns am Leiden Jesu einen Anteil geben.
Wir wollen auch wenn der Gottesdienst vorüber ist
still davon gehen,
und weiter über die Passion Christi nachsinnen,
und was er für uns erlitten hat.
Der Saal wird mit Absicht dunkel bleiben,
und wenn jemand beim rausgehen Hilfe braucht,
dann werden die Platzanweiser helfen.
Purpose and Explanation
The worship service this evening
has been planned as a contemplative service.
In Latin it is called ‘tenebrae’ – a service of shadows.
The purpose of this service of shadows
is to invite us to enter into
the emotional aspects of the passion story.
Through the Bible Readings and songs by the group,
and especially through the increasing darkness in this space
as the lights are dimmed
and the candles are extinguished
we will walk with Jesus
the dark road to Gethsemane.
Strong emotions of despair and anguish
will be invoked in us throughout this service
that give us a share in Christ’s suffering for us.
At the end of the service
the entire room will be in darkness
and we ask that you leave in silence.
The lights will remain dimmed,
and if anyone needs assistance
the ushers will be glad to help
and make sure that everyone can leave safe.
Matthew 25:20-25
20When evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the Twelve. 21And while they were eating, he said, "I tell you the truth, one of you will betray me."
22They were very sad and began to say to him one after the other, "Surely not I, Lord?"
23Jesus replied, "The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray me. 24The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born."
25Then Judas, the one who would betray him, said, "Surely not I, Rabbi?"
Jesus answered, "Yes, it is you."[a]
20Und am Abend setzte er sich zu Tische mit den Zwölfen. 21Und da sie aßen, sprach er: Wahrlich ich sage euch: Einer unter euch wird mich verraten. 22Und sie wurden sehr betrübt und hoben an, ein jeglicher unter ihnen, und sagten zu ihm: HERR, bin ich's? 23Er antwortete und sprach: Der mit der Hand mit mir in die Schüssel tauchte, der wird mich verraten. 24Des Menschen Sohn geht zwar dahin, wie von ihm geschrieben steht; doch weh dem Menschen, durch welchen des Menschen Sohn verraten wird! Es wäre ihm besser, daß er nie geboren wäre. {Lukas.17,1} 17,1
Er sprach aber zu seinen Jüngern: Es ist unmöglich, daß nicht Ärgernisse kommen; weh aber dem, durch welchen sie kommen! 25Da antwortete Judas, der ihn verriet, und sprach: Bin ich's Rabbi? Er sprach zu ihm: Du sagst es.
