Call to Worship / Aufruf zur Andacht Pastor Ferdinand Funk

I was glad when they said unto me,

“Let us go into the House of the Lord”.

As a community of faith we have come into the house of the Lord

to praise God for his protection and love.

We have come to share in community with one other…

to lift our hearts to God in worship,

  and to proclaim our covenant

to be a support and encouragement

to each other as a family of faith.

The Praise & Worship

group will lead us in an opening prayer in song.

Welcome & Invocation / Begrüßung & Einleitung

Welcome to our time of worship today.

It’s good to be together as a church family to worship,

to celebrate the gift of children in the dedication service,

to sing together,

to hear God’s Word

and also to eat together and wonderful Borscht lunch

that’s being prepared by the Youth.

We welcome especially Don Rempel Boschman,

Pastor of Douglas MC

and his wife Kathleen,

and children Lisa and Michael.

Don will serve us with the Message today

and we are pleased for this connection

with the Pastor of our daughter church.

Thank you for being here!

If there are guests here today

we welcome you with open arms

and trust that God will be present

in our interactions with each other.

Take note of Guests:

und hernach lange sitzet und esset euer Brot mit Sorgen;

Doch der Psalmist will uns sagen,

Jemand sagte neulich,

Gott will unsere Heime bauen,

Pastor: When Christian parents present their child to God

       before the congregation,

       they come to thank God

for the life entrusted to them,

to offer their child back to God

and to ask for God’s blessing on their family life.

We as a congregation come to share their joy,

to pray with them for the child’s well-being

       and to receive the child

into the care of the church.

Like Hannah and Mary in the Bible,

you have brought your children before the Lord

       to dedicate them to God.

You have come to offer your child

into the strong and tender providence of God

and the nurture of the church.

And so I want to ask you,

       The parents of these children:

[Click]Congregational Response:

You have offered your child to the strong and tender providence of God. We rejoice with you and give thanks for the gift of your child.

We promise, with humility and seriousness, to share in your child’s nurture and well-being.

By our example and words we will support your efforts to provide a loving and caring home, where trust in God grows and Christ’s way is chosen.

Our prayers will be with you and for you.

May our shared life and witness help make your task both joyful and fruitful.

Pastor: Dear Parents,

may the God who has entrusted you with this child

grant you fullness of  love in raising it.

May God grant you the grace

to live a life of faithfulness to the Gospel

before your children so that they might

know the way of the kingdom.

[Click]Blessing the Children

The God who created you,

who sent his Son to redeem you,

and his Spirit to dwell in you,

       watch over you,

       enabling you to seek,

to find, and to know him.

May God bless you and keep you;

May the very face of God shine upon you,

       and be gracious to you.

[Click]Pastoral Prayer

Gracious God:

like a father who nurtures his children

       you have cared for us;

like a mother you have called us by name

       and claimed us as your own;

you have loved us into being,

       placed us in human families,

and blessed us on our journey.

By the presence of your Spirit

       bless these children and parents

on their journey together through life,

       through Jesus Christ our Savior.

May God’s presence embrace you

       and give you peace. Amen.

! [Click]Prayer of the parents

Our heavenly Father,

we thank you for our child.

We accept this child as a sacred trust.

Help us to nurture, to love, to counsel,

to teach, to train, and to show our child

       the love of God.

Give us your Spirit of strength and wisdom

to teach them what is right before the Lord.

May our child one day receive Jesus as Savior.

We surrender our child to you,

to be kept by your power,

to be used in your service,

and to be received into your presence.

Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Amen.
