Introduction

Twisted ankle still plagues me.
Past experiences affect how you walk.
A broken bone, a pulled muscle, a surgery.
Your past experiences, influences and environment and nature and nurture, affect your walk.
As a Christian, we are called to have a certain walk, a certain life.

Walk Differently

vv. 15-16

Walk differently than the world - days are evil.
Walk in a way that can cause you to stand out from the world.
Clarity for the world.
Ephesians 5:16 ESV
16 making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.
It’s good to be different.
Especially as we consider that the calling is to walk in love (5:20).

Walk Righteously

v. 17
What is the will of God? See 5:1-2
Ephesians 5:1–2 ESV
1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
Replace foolishness with holiness.

Walk Spiritually

vv. 18-20
Ephesians 5:18 ESV
18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,
Drunkenness - A loss of inhibitions. Recklessness.
Have Spirit-filled courage.
Will be seen by selfless love and encouragement (speaking in worship / Scripture).

Walk Humbly

v. 21
Ephesians 5:21 ESV
21 submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.
To
Place yourself as a servant to another.
Leads into the house-rules that follow.

Conclusion

Following in someone’s footsteps.
When people follow your path, grow closer to Jesus or further away?
What does your walk tell others about Jesus?
Do you set an example that leads to sanctification?
