On The Sabbath

Another Sabbath day, people are at church
we looked at the Sabbath and the rules last week
V 5 Jesus informs them that He is the Lord of the Sabbath
Jesus is telling them that He is the owner of the Sabbath
He is God who made the Sabbath
He is God who makes the rules about the Sabbath
He is God who rested on the first Sabbath
He is God who sits on His fathers throne
He is the Son Of Man who Daniel told them about who is going to return with the clouds and reign
Jesus is telling them He is the long awaited Messiah
we again have the Pharisees present to observe Jesus
Jesus has already disappointed them
they have been looking for the Messiah and according to their interpretation Jesus is not fitting the bill
Jesus has already proven that He is the Messiah
He has healed leprosy, Healed the paralyzed
He had the power to forgive sins
He has controlled the fish to swim into Simons net
He changed the heart of a tax collector
The Pharisees are not present to see if Jesus could heal
but they are there because Jesus will heal
and they want an occasion to accuse Him
Read Luke 6 6-11.

Confirmation Bias

Exalting Jesus in Luke Should We Do Good and Save or Do Harm and Destroy? (Luke 6:6–11)

Confirmation bias happens when a person takes whatever evidence that is contrary to their position and interprets it in a way that confirms their position

the person does not adjust their thinking to new evidence presented
but they will rearrange the evidence to their bias
over and over the science disproves the evolution theory
over and over new evidence is unearthed to prove Creation and the Bible
but no matter what people will believe the lie even though the truth is much more believable
Jeremiah 17:9 LSB
“The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can know it?
the heart of the unbeliever believes the lie from satan
So this is How could these Pharisees could not see Jesus as the Messiah?
why don’t they just fall on their knees before Him?
Jesus without lifting a finger, without touching the man
without doing any work at all - Heals this mans hand
V 11 they were filled with rage
and now began to plot to kill Jesus
Matthew 12:14 LSB
But going out, the Pharisees took counsel together against Him, as to how they might destroy Him.
lets go to Revelation 9 13-21
they did not repent even though they were in torment and were the few who were still alive
Revelation 11 15-18.
the nations was beginning to see that Jesus would reign on this earth with peace and Justice
they were enraged because Jesus was going to bring onto this earth what they always wanted
but like the pharisees they could not see past their bias against Jesus
so what would cause someone to have so much hatred of Jesus?
why would people go against their own well being?

Total depravity

The King of the jungle the lion
before the fall this was a herbivore ate grass, plants, and fruit
just like every thing else in the garden
there was no death anywhere until chapter 3 of Genesis
when did God change these animals to be meat eaters we don’t know
after the flood God gave permission for man to eat meat
the Lion today will lye under a fruit tree.
he will crouch in the grass and he will remain hungry until he kills something and eats it
his nature wont let him eat any vegetable
even though in the garden before the fall it was different
and during the millennial kingdom he will again go back to be herbivore
where the lion will lay down with the lamb
it is this way with anyone born
his nature is to be against God
to be in rebellion against God
Romans 3 10 - 20.
it is against the nature of man to seek God
to love God
there is only enmity against God from a person
Ephesians 2 tell us we were dead in trespasses and sins
just like the lion laying in the grass under the fruit tree starving
every one is against God even though God is doing great and marvelous things around us we have our bias against Him

What Faith Looks Like

V 6 -8 a man with a withered hand
a man who probably hides his deformity in his sleeve
a man who does not want to be singled out
but a man who has heard that Jesus can heal
not a blind faith but a faith that has substance
a faith that knows a healing can happen
V 10 Jesus gives a command that was impossible to do when he walked in to church
a command that took faith to even try
his hand and arm was atrophied
this man had confidence that was supplied by the power of God
when we were saved
we was like the pharisees totally against God
dead in sin
not seeking God
but Jesus through the Holy Spirit singled us out
exposed our sin. Made us see our wretchedness
gave us an impossible command of putting our faith in Jesus
gave us another impossible command of turning away from out sin
Impossible that is unless God causes it to happen
The faith that you have is not a blind faith
someone has given you the gospel, the good news
someone has opened up the revelation of God through His written word
and has told us something like this
Romans 3:23 LSB
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
what does this look like to God?
Romans 3:10–18 LSB
as it is written, THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE; THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD; ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME WORTHLESS; THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD, THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE.” THEIR THROAT IS AN OPEN TOMB, WITH THEIR TONGUES THEY KEEP DECEIVING,” THE POISON OF ASPS IS UNDER THEIR LIPS”; WHOSE MOUTH IS FULL OF CURSING AND BITTERNESS”; THEIR FEET ARE SWIFT TO SHED BLOOD, DESTRUCTION AND MISERY ARE IN THEIR PATHS, AND THE PATH OF PEACE THEY HAVE NOT KNOWN.” THERE IS NO FEAR OF GOD BEFORE THEIR EYES.”
and because of this
Romans 6:23 (LSB)
For the wages of sin is death,
Now the Good News
but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 5:8 LSB
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
So how do we receive this free gift?
Acts 16:31 LSB
And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your house.”
Ephesians 2:8–9 LSB
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not of works, so that no one may boast.
It is time for you to call upon Jesus and be saved
Is Jesus calling you out?
Is Jesus exposing your sinfulness?
Is Jesus opening your eyes to your desperate need?
Its time to call on Jesus and be saved
