How you perceive an experience often depends on your context.
One thing that grates on my nerves is a crying child. I think God created a baby's cry to be one of the most annoying sounds on earth, just to get exhausted parents to take care of them. I can handle a baby's cry somewhat, but it gets old real quick.
But my perspective changed when my little Elizabeth started choking on some food. I would have ripped her high chair apart to help her clear her little throat as her face turned red from lack of the oxygen she so desperately needed. That same noise that had been so irritating earlier became the sweetest sound when it reassured me that she was finally breathing again.
