Exodus 32:29 KJV 1900
For Moses had said, Consecrate yourselves to day to the Lord, even every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that he may bestow upon you a blessing this day.

I. Consecration

a. As used in the Scripture.

i. מָלֵא mâlêʼ, maw-lay'; or מָלָא mâlâʼ; (Esther 7:5), a primitive root; to fill or (intransitively) be full of, in a wide application (literally and figuratively):—accomplish, confirm, consecrate, be at an end, be expired, be fenced, fill, fulfil, (be, become, × draw, give in, go) full(-ly, -ly set, tale), (over-) flow, fulness, furnish, gather (selves, together), presume, replenish, satisfy, set, space, take a (hand-) full, have wholly.

1. This stood out to me in order to be blessed by God Moses commanded the people to, “Consecrate yourselves to day to the Lord!”

2. When I started looking into what it meant to be “consecrated” I found the above definition to be filled.

b. This takes me back to the day of Pentecost.

i. In Acts 2 we find that they were all filled with the Holy Ghost!

Acts 2:1–4 KJV 1900
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

1. As a result of their infilling we see that God blessed when Peter preached and filled 3000 with the Holy Ghost.

2. We can go to Acts 4 and see the they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and God blessed their efforts again.

Acts 4:31 KJV 1900
And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

ii. However, they didn’t just so happen to be consecrated/filled with the Holy Ghost but there was a process associated.

c. The process.

Acts 1:10–14 KJV 1900
And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day’s journey. And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James. These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

i. Obedience

1. These people were commanded to go to a certain place and wait for the promise of the Father.

ii. Unity

1. They ALL continued in one accord/mind, which means to be unanimous in the original.

iii. Prayers and supplications.

1. This is pretty self-explanatory, but they had to talk to God!

iv. As a result of their consecration to God we see that they WERE FILLED with the Holy Ghost and God blessed them!

d. I have come to declare that it is time for us as a church to consecrate ourselves to God!

i. I woke up this morning with this heavy upon my heart and fill like we as a church need to take a time of consecration in this week.

1. As a result I believe wholeheartedly that He will bless this church with an outpouring of His Spirit like we have never seen before!
