Como un pastor, Dios busca a su oveja
Moisés escapó de Egipto por asesinar a un soldado que maltrataba otros judíos. Moisés escapó de la muerte y se refugió en el desierto. Se casó y ahora se dedica a cuidar un rebaño. Al parecer el pueblo de Israel no echó de menos a Moisés y continuaron su vida sin él. El faraón a su vez siguió explotando el pueblo de Israel como esclavos.
Un día que Moisés pastoreaba su rebaño, Dios salió a su encuentro y lo llamó por su nombre: Moisés, Moisés. Él le responde: “Aquí estoy”. Dios no se había olvidado de Moisés y lo busca.
Dios busca a Moisés porque escuchó el grito del pueblo de Israel que aún sigue siendo esclavo en Egipto. Dios le pide ir en Su Nombre y liberar el pueblo de las manos del faraón. Una tarea nada fácil, una tarea complicada. Podemos preguntarnos: ¿Cómo un simple hombre podría obligar al faraón a liberar todo un pueblo? Moisés no se siente capaz de hacerlo y tiene miedo. Como cuando tenemos un proyecto por delante y no sabemos si podremos sacarlo adelante o no. Moisés no confía si puede hacerlo pues es él contra el Faraón.
Y Moisés tiene razón. Él no puede hacerlo solo. Quien liberará a Israel es Dios, pero necesita que alguien lleve Su Mensaje, que alguien sea la voz de Dios ante el Faraón. Dios le dice “Yo estaré contigo”. Esta es la promesa más grande que hayamos podido recibir todos. La soledad no existe porque hay alguien con nosotros.
Muchas personas se sienten solas en medio de sus dificultades, problemas, sufrimientos. Sin embargo no están solas. Dios les revela su presencia y su compañía. Se trata de un mensaje de amor que solo se reconoce cuando abrimos el corazón a nuestra pequeñez y nos abandonamos humildemente al Señor. El Evangelio nos habla de algo oculto para los sabios, algo que ni ellos logran comprender. Sólo los pequeños son capaces de comprenderlo. Sólo ellos lo comprenden porque están a la búsqueda de algo. El sabio cree que lo sabe todo y el pequeño necesita que alguien más le enseñe. El sabio es el punto de referencia, el pequeño reconoce sus límites. Pequeños son aquellos que buscan, aquellos que sufren, que pasan por dificultades, aquellos que no se creen perfectos. Dios revela su presencia a los pequeños como lo hizo con Moisés. Dios elige a los pequeños porque quiere Él manifestar la grandeza de su amor.
Dios eligió a Pedro y solo cuando Él supo acoger su pequeñez comprendió que Dios es quien libera realmente al hombre. Dios nos pide también a nosotros reconocer esa pequeñez para reconocer su presencia en nuestro corazón. Quizá necesitamos vaciarnos de tantas cosas para que Él pueda encontrar más espacio en nuestros corazones y así disfrutar con mayor gozo de su presencia. Pidamos esa gracia al Señor reconociendo que necesitamos de Él. amén

Like a shepherd, God looks for his own sheep
Moses escaped from Egypt for murdering a soldier who maltreated other Jews. Moses escaped death and took refuge in the desert. He married and now takes care of a flock. Apparently the people of Israel did not even miss Moses and continued their lives without him. The Pharaoh in turn continued to exploit the people of Israel as slaves.
One day when Moses was shepherding his flock, God came out to meet him and called him by name: Moses, Moses. He answered him: "Here I am". God had not forgotten Moses and is looking for him.
God is looking for Moses because He heard the cry of the people of Israel who are still slaves in Egypt. God asks him to go in His Name and free the people from the hands of the Pharaoh. Not an easy task, a complicated task. We may ask ourselves: How could a simple man could force Pharaoh to free a whole people? Moses does not feel capable of doing it and is afraid. Like when we have a project ahead of us and we do not know if we will be able to carry it out or not. Moses does not trust if he can do it, because it is him against Pharaoh.
And Moses is right. He cannot do it alone. The one who will deliver Israel is God, but He needs someone to carry His Message, someone to be the voice of God before the Pharaoh. God tells him "I will be with you". This is the greatest promise we have ever received. Loneliness does not exist because there is someone with us.
Many people feel alone in the midst of their difficulties, problems, sufferings. However, they are not alone. God reveals his presence and his company to them. It is a message of love that can only be recognized when we open our hearts to our littleness and humbly abandon ourselves to the Lord. The Gospel speaks to us of something hidden from the wise, something that even they cannot understand. Only the little ones are capable of understanding it. Only they understand it because they are searching for something. The wise man thinks he knows everything and the little one needs someone else to teach him. The wise man is the point of reference, the little one recognizes his limits. Little ones are those who seek, those who suffer, who go through difficulties, those who do not think they are perfect. God reveals His presence to the little ones as He did with Moses. God chooses the little ones because He wants to manifest the greatness of His love.
God chose Peter and only when he knew how to accept his littleness he understood that God is the one who really liberates man. God also asks us to recognize this littleness in order to acknowledge his presence in our hearts. Perhaps we need to empty ourselves of so many things so that He can find more space in our hearts and enjoy His presence with greater joy. Let us ask the Lord for this grace, recognizing that we need him. Amen.
