Introduction
This is part 2 of our lesson “Wisdom That Comes From Above”
James 3:17 ESV
But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.

1. You Can Find the Good in the Bad

Who’s standard of Good?
Influencers
Number of likes
Many likes means endorsements and $
2 Corinthians 6:17–18 ESV
Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you, and I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.”
If you’re around something stronger and more influential than you, there’s a danger you’ll take on their manner of thinking, speaking, and actions.

2. Doesn’t Matter What You Do Since We’re Covered by God’s Grace.

Titus 2:11–12 ESV
For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age,

3. Nothing Wrong with Showing Admiration to Worldly Things

There is a profound connect to what we worship and our human nature
What every we worship good or bad begins to recreate us in its own image

We Tend to Resemble What We Revere

Either for our ruin or our restoration
2 Kings 17:14–15 ESV
But they would not listen, but were stubborn, as their fathers had been, who did not believe in the Lord their God. They despised his statutes and his covenant that he made with their fathers and the warnings that he gave them. They went after false idols and became false, and they followed the nations that were around them, concerning whom the Lord had commanded them that they should not do like them.
The children of Israel became what they worshipped.
It refashioned them in its own image
Psalm 115:8 ESV
Those who make them become like them; so do all who trust in them.

Worldly priorities are temporary and fleeting

1 John 2:15–17 ESV
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

Worldly values can lead to discontentment.

Ecclesiastes 5:10 ESV
He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves wealth with his income; this also is vanity.
1 Timothy 6:10 ESV
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.
Rich young ruler (Matt Nineteen)

Do Not Murder, commit adultery or Lie. Honor Father and Mother, Love your neighbor as yourself

Matthew 19:25–26 ESV
When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?” But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
WHAT DO WE NEED TO DO

Cultivating a heart rooted in God's Word

Psalm 119:11 ESV
I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

Setting Our Minds on Heavenly Things
