For two Iranian women Maryam Rostampour and Marzieh Amirzadeh spent 259 days in Iran’s notorious Evin Prison last year accused of anti-government activity, apostasy, and propagating Christianity—all crimes punishable by death. Under pressure to recant their Christian faith their response was, “We love Jesus. We will not deny our faith.”

With charges dropped and a warning against any further Christian activity in the country, the pair left Iran to an undisclosed location. There is a world of difference between asking someone to repeat a simple sentence, and realizing that living the words will result in a sentence. One is choice; the other is commitment.
