Step 1:  God knows us when he calls

¨ Give background on me and previous lessons

¨     Some one said aren’t you afraid since you have not been with this church as long as

you previous one?

¨     No I am just like Jeremiah in his opening remarks.

¨   God knows!  Paul said in Philippians 3:10 “ I want to Know Christ and      the power of His resurrection”.  Likewise in this passage of Jeremiah

God is saying he knows Jeremiah and us.

¨  Point:  God gives us we need to complete his calling because he “knew us before we were born”.

Step 3:  He gives authority

¨     When God calls us to do his work he gives authority

¨     God reaches out to Jeremiah and touches his mouth and allows him to do as God sees fit.

¨     Not only do we have authority but Romans 11:29 Say, “for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable”.  God desires for us to received his call.

¨     Don’t be like Jeremiah and say, I am to young, or I don’t know.

¨     He gives us the ability to uproot, tear down, destroy, over throw, build and plant!!!!  He will not let you hang out to dry.  He will give you the chance to step before kings and rulers, but with his words not yours.       GOD GIVES ATHORITY WHEN HE CALLS!

Step 4:  So you’ve been called

¨     He doesn’t call us because of who we are but because of who he is!!

¨     When I worked in EMS we would get called to go help someone.  The call was a distinct call we knew when what and other such topics.  IF only if were that way with God, right?

¨     Accepting God’s call is important, but following it is just as important!

¨     In Philliphians 3:14 Paul says “I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ”.

¨     For when we follow God’s call we are moving towards heaven.

Step 5  Conclusion

¨     Graduation story.

¨     Four active verbs sum up Jermiah’s Call and our call:  I formed,  I knew,  I set apart,  I appointed.

George W. Bush, in an airport terminal, noticed a man in a long flowing white robe with a long flowing white beard and flowing white hair. The man had a staff in one hand and some stone tablets under the other arm.  George W. approached the man and inquired, "Aren't you Moses?" The man ignored George W. and stared at the ceiling. George W. positioned himself more directly in the man's view and asked again, "Aren't you Moses" The man continue to peruse the ceiling. George W. tugged at the man's sleeve and asked once again, "Aren't you Moses?" The man finally responded in an irritated voice, "Yes I am." George W. asked him why he was so uppity and the man replied, "The last time I replied to the calling of a Bush I had to spend forty years in the desert."
