The Gospel with the fathers
Matthew 14:1-12
Herod the tetrarch heard about the reputation of Jesus, and said to his court, ‘This is John the Baptist himself; he has risen from the dead, and that is why miraculous powers are at work in him.’
Now it was Herod who had arrested John, chained him up and put him in prison because of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife. For John had told him, ‘It is against the Law for you to have her.’ He had wanted to kill him but was afraid of the people, who regarded John as a prophet. Then, during the celebrations for Herod’s birthday, the daughter of Herodias danced before the company, and so delighted Herod that he promised on oath to give her anything she asked. Prompted by her mother she said, ‘Give me John the Baptist’s head, here, on a dish.’ The king was distressed but, thinking of the oaths he had sworn and of his guests, he ordered it to be given her, and sent and had John beheaded in the prison. The head was brought in on a dish and given to the girl, who took it to her mother. John’s disciples came and took the body and buried it; then they went off to tell Jesus.
They believe in the reincarnation, not in the resurrection.
Does the Jews believe in the resurrection of the body, only the seduces, but no the Pharisees, but Herod was no Jew, Sant Jerome say there were a lot of people that believe no in the resurrection but, but in the reincarnation, they believe the heresy that a should after death get another body. But its contradicted the Bible, because is written that the man dies only one an then the judgment, Hebrews 9:27.
Saint Tomas
What was the sin, of Herod, he was and adultery he took the wife of his brother, while his brother was still alive.
Herod and Philip were brothers. Philip had the daughter of Areta, the king of the Arabs. He had enmity with this king of the Arabs, and with his brother Herod also, so that the king of the Arabs, in hatred of Philip, took his daughter and granted her to Herod.
He arrested him, because he was remaining that he was doing wrong,
Herod and Philip were brothers. Philip had the daughter of Areta, the king of the Arabs. He had enmity with this king of the Arabs, and with his brother Herod also, so that the king of the Arabs, in hatred of Philip, took his daughter and granted her to Herod.
While he was dancing, Like David, firs they committed lust, then they became a murder.
He was adiviced for a woman, Sant Tomas Says
Women are sometimes pious, and they have easily moved affections; hence when they are pious, they are the most pious of all, but when they are cruel, they are the cruellest of all. There is no head worse than the head of a serpent: and there is no anger above the anger of a woman(Sir 25:22–23). And it says in the same place, all malice is short to the malice of a woman (Sir 25:26). For a man would scarcely think of what a corrupted woman thinks. So the mother asked to satisfy her own anger. Likewise, she feared, lest sometime Herod should be converted by John’s words, and send her away.
Application of Daily Life
If we do no kill our sins, our sins will kill us, one sin led to another sin, we have to ask God to help to see our ours blind side, and clean those sins.
For example, we see, in our days firs the devil promotes the lust and then advice the people to became a murder.
How many people have relations and then they kill his babies, one sin lead to a bigger sin if you do no stop your lust you may commit a bigger crime.
We have to be humble to accept the correction.
God uses many was to correct us, the voice of the Priest, the teacher, the authorities, we can be humble an accept the correction like the King David, or became anger and became a murder like the Herod, and yes because the gospel point if you consent anger against your brother, you already became murder in your heart.
Give thanks to God when the correction come and ask him the grace to change your life, because or you kill your sin or your sin will kill your soul for ever.
