Romans 12:18 tells us to live peaceably with all men as much as is possible. Paul kept the peace with Peter during his first and second visit to Jerusalem. However, here the gospel (the very death of our Savior) is at stake and must be defended.

Hypocritical Walk (11-14) कपटको चालचलन

Peter was guilty and worthy to be blamed
He acted one way in front of the gentiles and another way in front of the jews
His great guilt was drawing others away from the truth of the gospel
They were not walking according to the truth of the gospel they preached and believed
This is hypocrisy which Jesus repromanded harshly in the Jewish leadership
The gospel of Jesus must not be tampered with lest it loses all its worth
Peter and the other Jews were going back to their jewish customs that could not save them
They are part of the church because of their confession and belief that their works could not save them

Hopeless Works (14-16)

Peter, Paul and James had abandoned the ship of Judaism because they came to realize that Christ was there only hope
Illustration- When I walk into a building I stop using an umbrella
It protected me from rain and sun on the way to the building but now something better and longer lasting has come
It would make no sense to make someone already in the building to hold an umbrella because they did not use one on the way there
Even we Jews who are not sinners like the gentiles (idol worship, etc) realized our works were not enough
Romans 3:23 All have sinned and come short
The Law taught justification by works as a thing of bondage (Romans 10:4-5)
Paul repeats himself 3 times ending in quote from the Old Testament (Psalms 143:1-2)
Why did the Jews abandon their pursuit?
Knowing that a man is not justified by works but faith in Jesus Christ
Even we Jews have faith in Jesus Christ and not by all our religious works
For by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified
This last quote from Psalms is a plea for God to help even Israel’s king David
David knew that he was a sinful man
vs 10-11 he pleas for God to teach him and quicken him
They destroyed the Law because it could not produce salvation in them. This does not make the Law or the Law-giver evil. I am evil if I bring back something I destoyed saying that it was weak. By dying to the Law, I know can live in Christ

Heart-Changing Savior (17-21)

The Law is not a minister of sin but those who try to rebuild the law once completed will become transgressors
Death is the end of a contract
Through the law I AM DEAD
The law exposed my helpless state and led me to Christ (Romans 7:7-8)
But death cancelled the covenant that now I can live unto another
I accept the shame of the crucifixion of Christ confessing my sin and weakness
Nevertheless I live!!!
This is the work of Christ and the power of his life-giving work
This is the power of the resurrection
It is Jesus’ work
He loved me
He gave himself for me
I will not frustrate this work
Lest I see Christ put to shame in vain
The law was not will to be put to death for me but only condemned me to death
Christ alone has grace towards broken man
Is your walk a testimony to the truth of the gospel?
In Nepal, people abandon idolatry for Christ just to make an image of Jesus central in their worship. BEWARE
In Nepal, people abandon Hindu rituals just to adopt new rituals in the church. Have to do this or that as a christian or else you are not truly saved. BEWARE
In Nepal, people abandon the caste system just to continue in self-righteousness and pride. BEWARE
Are you living in the grace of Jesus Christ or are you trying to rebuild what has been destroyed?
Making for yourself new rules to follow
Expecting others to live up to a certain standard to receive what you have been freely given
