LET’S BRAG ON GOD! PT1

Psalm 107:1-2

Intro: Cleveland may not be the ideal location for athletic super stars. Cleveland can’t brag about winning multiple Super Bowls, World Series or NBA Finals. There is one thing that Cleveland can brag about, and that is the world’s most dedicated, die-hard fans. It was those fans that raised Lebron James to basketball royalty.

Atop his pedestal, James looked out at the city of Cleveland to see super-sized billboards crowning him king. He was the hometown hero and played into the roll perfectly. He preached about loyalty and all that he was going to do for Cleveland. He gave a broken city hope.

They bragged because this was the only valuable asset that they had a whole city captivated by one man only in the end. Like a bride with cold feet, Lebron left Cleveland standing at the altar.

TRAN: what about you have ever been so sure about something in your life that you bragged about it.

Maybe your JOB, CAR , BUSINESS , SPOUSE, BOYFRIEND, GIRLFRIEND , SUCCESS AND OUR STATUS IN LIFE.

We brag about things that seem sure and good in our lives and in the end we find out that it was not worth it. What ABOUT GOD as you can see the world does not want us to brag on Him to give Him what’s due or should I say, well overdue. As believers we have bragging rights and yet Satan wants to shut us up when was the last time you really bragged on God come go with me as we discover reasons to brag on God.

Context:

The Hebrews knew the Book of Psalms as the Hallel, the Book of Praises

The focus of the Psalms is on God. As Christians today approach this great book we meet the Lord in a special way, and we are taught how to worship and praise Him.

HALLEL

In various forms this word means "to acclaim," "to boast of," "to glory in." The word expresses a deep satisfaction to be found in exalting the acts and the qualities of the Person being praised.

Praise is our response to God's revelation of Himself, an acknowledgment of His character and His acts. But it is more. Praise is our expression of delight in God Himself; our expression of the love we feel as we consider, "How Great Thou Art."

This psalm is a call to praise addressed to the redeemed of the Lord. The psalmist motivated them to praise Him by portraying how He delivered His people out of the wilderness, broke the bonds of prisoners, restored the sick, showed His power to mariners in the sea, and providentially governs nature and human affairs.

They were deliver from Babylon and they are free again.

Psalm 107:1-2

Psalms 107:1 Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

II.BECAUSE HE IS ALL I HAVE

TO THE LORD: Self-Existent or Eternal, Jehovah.

We brag about finite and frail man but when man fails us when we find ourselves by ourselves remember that you are not alone we brag on God because He is with us now and in eternity we will never be out of His sight He is all we got!

He delivered us out of darkness , dangers , disaster , disillusionment and even death. WHO DO YOU KNOW THAT CAN DO THAT FOR YOU.!!!!!!!!!!

III. BECAUSE HE IS THE BEST THING IN MY LIFE

FOR HE IS GOOD: best, well-pleasing, fruitful, morally correct, proper, convenient, is useful and profitable is abundant and plentiful, is kind and benevolent.

The best thing that ever happen to us was God if we don’t recognize Him as the best thing that’s the reason we always complain.

Psalm 107:1-2

Psalms 107:1 Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

IV.BECAUSE HIS FAVOR LASTS FOR A LIFETIME.

FOR HIS LOVINGKINDNESS: kindness, favor, good deeds kindly, merciful, compassion ,mercy,

What God did for you and for me is done He will never take it back , He will never change His mind it’s done He will never leave you nor forsake you , He will make a way for you when there is no way out.

What God has done and is doing is a lifelong work in our lives He is constantly working on us and no matter how far we drift He is still working on us and that’s something to BRAG ABOUT.

IS EVERLASTING: eternity

The devil will trick you into believing that God is not Good ,He will trick you into believing that God has left you, that what you are doing for Him is a waste of time but even after you have fallen victim to those thoughts God is still good enough , compassionate enough , loving enough to rescue you , forgive you , restore you , bless you and protect you. What God is doing and has done for us will last a life time look at your life it’s not the same and the only reason you may not see it because maybe you haven’t bragged enough about God !

Maybe you just bragged for a moment about the blessings and not the God that Gave you the blessing .

But I encourage you after the blessings , burdens, trails, storms , trouble , negativity . Learn how to BRAG FOR A LIFETIME

Thus says the Lord, " Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches;

24 but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things," declares the Lord. [Jeremiah 9:23-24]
