IPlayer. Giving me three intros to the service cuz I wasn't paying attention.

Some of you are they have in the springtime a Good Friday service. You know that's kind of what the aim is today and I'm doing that we're breaking up the format of the service. We all know if we attend here, three or four times that there's usually a reading and then songs and then a song and then Prayer song, sermon songs, right? You can do with your eyes closed. I'm breaking a sermon up into four parts. I'm going to start the sermon here in about a minute and so if forces you to be on your toes and it makes you a little anxious because you have to put extra care and listening and following along with a service, it does the same to me. I am a guy who ends day. We're having a family bible study over at the farm of Darren and Grace, and make a note of that. Also, two weeks from this Wednesday, we're going to have another Operation Christmas Child packing party. 500 boxes is the goal. We did 150 with a lot of people here and so if you can come And participate, that would be wonderful. And then, if you can stay, we do have our potluck after the potluck. We have a short devotional and I don't even have a bulletin up here, and I think the sermon is beneficial help in difficult times. If you're a human being, you're going to experience the death of a loved one, or a friend who loses a spouse or car accident or cancer, and you're going to be put into situations that are going to be. May be very awkward for you that you're not used to. And what do you do when situations like that? And I know that, you know it's just part of the ministry for me to be engaged in emergencies and overtime. You kind of learn how to do that. So a lot of people they want to help. They just don't know what to do when so they don't do anything. Yeah, I know there are some practical things that you can do to help out other people in times of difficulties. And so after we do probably like 30 minutes or so of eating and fellas. I want us to give a devotion so if you can stick around, that would be wonderful. Open up your Bibles. For now, we're going to be looking at a review from last week out of Luke chapter 23. Beheading last week was during Christ remaining hours. He still exercise the office of prophet priest and King. If you're not familiar with old documents, especially the old catechisms. When we think about the office of prophet priest. And King, it doesn't necessarily readily come to our mind. But everything about to Jesus is and what he did, it fell into principles as found in the word of God. Nothing was just by happenstance. You know, you just got to recognize that the crisis that he spoke about the encounters that they had were all for our benefit last week. I said that Christ. Exercise the office office of a Divine prophet and a prophet as one who speaks to people about God, right? And if you don't understand really this lament that he gave really, it was a big element in the form of a beatitude blessed. Are those women who will never have children, right? Who is paps will never get socked? That's in contacts with another action that took place just before that in Matthew chapter 27. When The Jews were dogmatic about pilot, you know, put him to death, let his blood be upon our heads and upon our children, not hear stuff like that, right? And it when you go to accept or fight when the apostles were arrested in the religious Elite knew that these men had been with Jesus, they gave instruction that you have filled Jerusalem with your Doctrine and you intend to bring this man's blood Upon Our hats. Now, when Jesus gives us utterance to the women, you the idea is that within Thirty forty years or so, that Titus is going to surround Jerusalem with God. There was both abundant mercy and there's determined Judgment at the same time. I saw what people can drive their ideas about what Jesus is like, they're, they're, they're very vague over things and it might maximize things that are appealing to them, but you either find Mercy with God, or you fine judgment. And so, that's the idea behind him being Divine profit. But he's also a high priest, because we also read last week, it looked after 23, when he utters our prayer to God, to forgive these for they know, not what they're doing. You and I pray and our prayers are stymied. We don't know what the price on things people. Feel awkward where life, because a lot of times, we pray things that God and it's not necessarily asking for God to have his will, but we give ideas to God. Don't worry right now. If you would just do this, then this would happen and this person sick and and I pray that you would heal them and we're very self oriented and how we pray. That's why James says that you asked me. Don't receive because you're thinking about yourself Jesus, on the other hand, when he prays and John chapter 5 Jesus says, my father always hears me. But how in the world did Jesus pray for such Wicked people at the base of the cross? That were gnashing their teeth. Right. There were gloating over the difficulties of his circumstances and only on the day when, when, when the judgment is, is open Depot in a bookstore open, there's going to be people standing side-by-side with other saints that were present on Mount Calvary on that day. Write the encouraging words that I gave you last week, was the Lord indeed is most pitiful. As compassionate as gracious, no one is to Wicked. That price, cannot take care of him. No one has gone so far in to send that he can't be reconciled back. So when you think about the difficulties of your life and you don't know what's going on in your life, isn't it a comfort to know that? Not only do you have a spirit of God interceded on your behalf, but you have a great high priest. That speech to the father in the father always hears in those with a son asks him for. And so you might want a lot of people to print knows exactly what you need. And he intends to bring that to pass the. So he was a prophet of priests and of course, he was the king of Heaven. Remember the Jews, they mock Jesus as the Christ, he is unable to save himself. The Gentiles, the Romans mock Christ, because he did not have a crown, or a kingdom. And hear Jesus says, he shamed in front of people, he's hanging on the cross and someone who deserves the rifle, penalty of being executed cries out and mercy and only a king can save someone and bring them into his kingdom by his own Sovereign Act. I saw this whole idea about Jesus, not being a king because he can't save himself. He doesn't have a cross a crown, he doesn't have it. So, when you read historical, things like the narrative, always ground yourself. In a lot of historical truth. That's been developed over the last two thousand years that Jesus Christ, he satisfy the offices of a prophet, a priest and a king, not what I want to do with you is really a little bit of what Frederick Wilhelm krumenacker wrote. He was part of the Revival in Germany in 1830, 1840, you wrote this book and 1850s like a hundred and seventy years old, and he passes a church of Berlin called Trinity. Trinity Church and just one paragraph. I'm going to read this and then I ask my wife, if she was singing a song, She Wrote a lot of music years ago and she was saying and then I thought because we're speaking about the running of the temple. After I reek room of a word of prayer, Rachel is going to sing for you a song that she wrote years ago call, we have been drawed 9 Krombacher says this, we are entering a sanctuary. Is there generally speaking anything on Earth more solemn and affecting them dying moments, in which Time and Eternity meet each other and end the Silence of which we seem to hear the Striking, the Striking of the hours of another world, what are we then to feel at a death bad. So, I just that we are now to contemplate in which the Redeemer bows. His head and expires, lift up your eyes, oh, what a perspiration, from his brow, no one shares them with Words of Life, whoever left the world, more Forsaken, and involved, in deeper Shades, then he yet do not mistake him. It is not a conflict in which we see him engaged, but a sacrificial act. He does not yield to death like us but devotes himself to it after having previously invested it with a power over his life. Let's pray and then we'll start our service God of heaven. We do ask even on this sacred occasion. Even though every Sunday is a sacred occasion, is the Lord's day that you have given us to reacquaint our minds with eternity because of the busyness of Our Lives. Father, we have a tendency to Simply keep looking forward to what life brings us in. This is an intentional weekly. Reset Let me come back into the house of God. That we sent the cares and busyness of this world in our cars, as we walk it over the parking lot into this building, that we can remind ourselves heavenly father about the eternality of our own soul vibrate today. Where scripture reading this morning, I would ask that you would stand and honor the word of God. If you can.

Listen to every word that is spoken in the song. My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you from saving me from the words of my groaning? Oh my God, I Cry by day, but you did not answer and by night, but I find no rest. Yeah, you are holy and throwing on the Praises of Israel in your father's in you or Father's trusted. They trusted. And you delivered them do you? They cried and were rescued and we're not put the shame but I am a worm and not a man scorned by mankind and despised by. The people all who see me mock me. They make miles at me. They wag their heads, he trust in the Lord and let him deliver him. Let him rescue him for, he Delights in him. Yeah, you are. He who took me from the womb you made me trust? Trust you at my mother's breast on, you was I cast from my birth and from my mother's womb you have been my God, be not far from me for trouble is near and there is none to help many bowls. And Compass me, strong Bulls of Bashan, surround me, they open wide, their mouths at me like a ravening and roaring lion. I am poured out like water and all my bones are out of joint. My heart is like Wax. It is within my breast, my strength is dried up like a potsherd and my tongue sticks to my jaws. You lay me in the dust of death, for dogs, and Compass me a company of evildoers and circles mean they have pierced, my hands and my feet, I can count all my bones. They stare and gloat over me. They divided my garments among them. And for my clothing, they cast lots. But you will Lord do not be far off. All you my help come quickly to my Aid. Deliver my soul from The Sword. My precious life, from the power of the dog. Save me from the mouth of the lion. You have rescued me from the horns of the wild oxen. I will tell if your name to my brother is in the midst of the congregation. I will praise you Lord. Praise him. All you all spring of Jacob, glorify him and stand in all of him. All your offspring of Israel breathe as not despised or aboard. The Affliction of The Afflicted is not hidden his face from him, but us heard when he tried to him. From your comes, my praise in the great congregation. My vows, I will bear, I will perform before those who fear Him The Afflicted, she'll eat and be sad by those who seek Him. Shall. Praise the Lord, may your hearts live forever. All the ends of the Earth, shall remember and turn to the Lord and all the families of the nation shall worship before you for kingship, Belongs to the Lord, and He rules over the name, all the prosperous of the earth, eat and worship before him shall bow. All into the dust. Even the one who could not keep himself alive, posterity Shall Serve him, it shall be told of the Lord, to the Congress, to the coming generation. They shove, to Proclaim his righteousness to a people yet, unborn that he has done it. As we pray, we want to remember this morning. Some of you have heard that that Tom detore son, Jerry had been sick for the last 3 weeks. He had an issue with the thyroid left. 28 lb in 3 weeks. He's doing better. So let's remember Jerry, we went to remember Jon Cousino, his granddaughter Sarah. She's in the hospital right now with for blood clots in her lungs and and don't have any update. Is there we want to remember the magic family were grateful for Tyler and Chelsea. They've been coming for a while and she is great with child and she's overdue with let's pray for the pregnancy and delivery and then Darren shared with me. Just now that this coming Thursday on the 17th day. Lily is having the coders, but in a Dr. Daniels doing the service of the surgery, okay? I will pay for Dr. Daniels as well. And haven't we? We are so ever grateful for what Christ has done in our behalf. How can human words Express the level of gratitude that you deserve? I'm not having a father. This is a demonstration of a selfless self-giving love. That you do something for centers that they can't do for themselves. There's no reason for any person to ever boast in your presence. I pray father throughout eternity, and I know that we will, but that we would always contemplate, father, while you have been so gracious, a smiling upon our souls and saving us a break today, father. As we work through Luke chapter 23, just a handful of verses that would Captivate or thought for some reason that you will give us something heavenly father that we can think about through the remaining parts of the week we prayed Heavenly Father specifically for Jerry dealer. We are grateful or that he is doing better than what he wants. We pray for Sarah as she finds herself in the hospital in a difficult situation, dealing with blood. Clots, we ask that you would be gracious. There we really bother for the match of family were grateful Lord that they raise their children under the admonition of the word of God. And I think I shall seen carrying this child and the uncomfortableness that would go along with pregnancy, we pray. For the delivery. We pray father that everything would go smoothly. Pray father, just for another addition to the children that you would just be gracious. Help us as the body of Believers to demonstrate love to them and practical ways. I pray. Father for all those who will be helping with the delivery and that, and that they would have a sense of peace in your presence. At that time, we think I'm a father of how you blushed Humanity in miraculous ways and sometimes you bless them through secondary means we think of the technology that you allowed to be developed especially in reference to the west. And we think of how many a nurses who have been born father without hearing have been blessed by Cookie their implants over the years and we're grateful Heavenly Father for the opportunity. This coming Thursday for Daylily and we pray for Dr. Daniels as he operates on her. We pray once again for no complications Things would go well in that in time at the processor is turned on that she would learn Heavenly Father how to interact with the world through the means of technology and yet father help us never to lose it that every good gift and everything that comes from having that blesses us has your fingerprints all over it. I pray for a sensitivity of our hearts. We do recognise father many times. There's a carelessness when it comes to worship but something that we do regularly for the most part and we come in and and we get used to a routine and I pray, father, just the difference of the service would cause his father to be more set on edge, more attentive to what is said and what is being done. And once again, father, our goal at the end of it is that we would love Christ more because of sitting in this building, we met the service to you in Jesus name. Amen. Please remain standing.

Running a number 44th. Reverse number 49. The word of God says this, it was now about the 6 hour and there was Darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. Well, the Sun's light failed. In a turbo took curtain of the temple was torn in two. Then Jesus calling out with a loud voice at father. Into your hands. I commit my spirit. and having said that, he breathed his last I want to send Jerry and saw what had taken place. He praised God, saying, certainly this man was innocent and all the crowds that had assembled for the spectacle. When I saw what had taken place returned, home beating their breasts and all his acquaintances, men and women who had followed him From Galilee stood at a distance watching these things. well, overall, really the theme of the section I wrote is the king saves his subjects by From Death by dying in their place. The application of soteriology is is simple, and yet is complex at the same time.

Judicially before the Lord. You were saved two thousand years ago.

Practically. And as the merits of Christ was apply to you by the spirit of God through time that you were converted in time right man. So we have to bring with because I got eternity in time and to the same the same mindset and yeah it is difficult to recognize that God is over all things. And for those people who actually witnessed what was going on at Valdosta, must have been a horrendous events in every aspect. But what I want to bring out and just the two first two points that I'm going to mention today. I mean, right off the bat is in some respects creation response, notice a 44 in at the beginning of his 45 at There Was An Unexpected Darkness, a timer 45 says that the Sun's light failed. It reminds us that there's a are reverberating aspect of what took place when Adam and Eve disobeyed God, it wasn't something small. That's why in church history. You have people that always stood up against things that were wrong. There was a man by the name of pelagius's that lived at the time of Augustine and Pelagius believed that Adam and Eve's full effect of themselves and it serves as a example of what not to do, right? Lady is a maid teaches that that you can somehow benefit yourself that all the answers lie with them. Now when it came time for the medieval section of human history to take place for a thousand years, Roman Catholicism in its and its Genesis did not Embrace lady has but they believe in a semi plague in theology that teaches that man is not so corrupt that they cannot participate with God, right? And so it's a cooperation, you do what you can and God does what he can. And there's a steps and gods at the top and here at the bottom and you meet you in accordance with your ability. I want to Look at these verses and remind you that the Disobedience. The simple Disobedience of eating something. That was forbidden. Affected, not just Humanity, but all of creation itself. The people will look back and say, well, there's no Supernatural supernatural phenomena concerning this. This was just a matter of, you know, clouds or something like that or a solar eclipse pass over was a time of a full moon and so, I had nothing to do with the moon going in front of the sun. This was something that creation itself outside of humanity knows its creator. Isn't that amazing right at the time of Christ when he's doing certain things you can walk past the fig tree. That's not bearing. Fruit and cursing in a die you can be on a boat and he can speak to the the waves in the wind and creation obeys that there's a relationship with creation and its creator that you and I don't understand but it's still present. And we find in the scriptures that one God in Old Testament history when he does things a lot of times creation responds accordingly, it's like an Exodus chapter 19. When the preparation for the giving of the wall in, Moses is told to cordon off the mountain, right? I'm going to be here at three days. Prepare yourselves, wash your clothes abstain from sexual activity. That rope's up in anything that touches the mount. Whether it be Beast or human, it needs to be put to death, then I don't know about you, but that would excite me for it, something like that to happen, you know, something big is going to happen, like when I was in England, we went to a manner, I forgot what it was and it was a Burly horse trials and if you watch Jerry Sapphire, Lord Burleigh was the wealthy guy and he had the hurdles at his house with the champagne glass, remember that? So we're there and I'm finally, these police were walking around and they're saying, you don't go anywhere, don't don't Stephanie forward. You know. You'll see you'll see you know everything. What's going to happen to stuff? While we were the old me and my friend were the only ones there. And so I just said, I don't know what's going on but this is stand here and here comes right. What pastor and I'm like, she never did. But you get the idea that when God showed up on the third day, he shows up with earthquakes. Trumpet blasts fire. In the normal Israelite person was like, we're not going up there. That's all creation response to the Creator. But the darkness was symbolic of the inner Darkness through which Jesus was passing. Taking upon himself and bearing not just roll of humanity personalize. It if you're a Believer there, that, that Darkness was somehow affected by you and your own Sin Night. Is easy for our souls and our conscience. When we talk about biblical things and we divorce ourselves for, you know, a large group of people but you put yourself in the story because you absolutely were there. And our Disobedience as to the frustration. In really, the need for creation itself to be redeemed, the Apostle, Paul talks about that that creation Waits, eagerly and longing for the revealing of the sons of God for the creation was subjected to futility. Not willingly. So, when you go out and you weed your garden, you remind yourself that you messed things up, right? And when you see all kind of Mayhem going on in the world and stuff, your fingerprints are part of that as well. Paul later on in Colossians would write this in him for, in him. All the fullness of God, was pleased to dwell, and through him, to reconcile to himself, all things weather on Earth, or in heaven. And even the death of the Son of God has to take place for creation to go back to what it was supposed to be. Creation response to the Lord. Also the curtain, it tears systemically through the course of how God deals with people. He does things of necessity to Captivate our minds. It's almost like a person who is always distracted and whether is a teacher or a parent, you know. Trying to get eye contact with them. You know what, it's like writing, teach Sunday school class. Yeah, I know, I work or you're if you're a kid, you know, you and you go to school and you don't admit to it. But sometimes your mom is teaching you about English, but you're thinking about recess time and you get the idea we're distracted in. Bishop Royal says this and I left picture for a while because he doesn't hold any punches. He says, God knows the desperate stupidity and unbelief of our human nature. Right. I can't say that to you because you would be offended but if I go out an Anglican bishop and I tell you that God knows the stupidity of our unbelief of our own human nature, you know, he should strike you because you and I are like that sometimes in our lives. We're completely blind to what is going on, Matthew's account of the death of the Lord, Jesus, add to little bit more Dynamic. When he says that the two of us were open and the Saints got up and they walked around something was happening, right? And this is not just a side effect. This is intentional and it's beneficial for people like you and me. Lot of times. We have a lot of questions, and I'm reminded of the late dr. Greer from Grand, Rapids Theological Seminary. He told us, he was traveling and he traveled a lot. And he flew into the first place compartment, and he went, and he sat down, and they looked over at the person next to him, and sitting beside him was Charlton. Heston a dr. Greer said, I've had a lot of questions for you, Moses. Right.

Got into rocks in human history and he gives the Mosaic economy 1500 years. Before Christ. He speaks of the temple, he speaks of sacrifice. He gives a priesthood of all of these things are for temporary benefit to atone, for our sins, to atone means to cover rights. When we say that Christ died, he didn't atone for our since technically. He expiated, he removed the sin from us, but for fifteen hundred years, it's there to cover that kind of set aside and push back interment intermittently for something greater to comment the author of Hebrews. He, he makes a statement. These preparations have that's been made the priest do regular regularly into the first section. Performing the ritual duties, but into the second only, the high priest goes and he but once a year and not without taking blood with these offers for himself and for the unintentional sins of the people, Because in the Mosaic economy, there were some sacrifices and things that you had to do when you said. And I hear that was honest with himself was busy at the temple all the time, right? When you intentionally send you were mandated to bring a sacrifice and to bring up before God, I would be one of those. I mean, if the Mosaic economy happened today, I had to get right with God and then as soon as I went to Kansas City and I hit the roundabout, I had to come right back because I lost it again. If we're honest with ourselves, the believing Hebrew. Recognize how overwhelming and how disparaging it was only? Think about all of the things that you do and you're aware of doing it. And you add on top of that that you're still guilty for unintentional sins as well.

We can ever have conversations that are kind of like this. I'm not as bad as

You're worse than what you think, right? How many times have I told you, right? Never be shot. When you act out in the Flash. And if by chance, coincident brings us together in, in Austin has a bad day and he acts out in the flesh. And he looks at me with great conviction on his face and he says, I'm so sorry. Pastor that I did that, I can with accuracy, look at him and say, Austin, the bad news is you're worse than what you think you are.

When the curtain pairs, the darkness was for the commons. You that Aaron of the current was for the religious Jewish Elite. Send because of what Christ did not only does the curtain pulled the curtain come down, it must come down. That's encouraging for people like you and me, right?

When you set aside the Tabernacle, when you go to the temple, everything about the Mosaic system told you that you were on the outs.

The Jew would make statements and he would praise things like this. I am grateful that I am not a dog, or a gentile, or a woman. It has nothing to do with the value of women. It has everything to do for the Jewish man who can get the closest proximity inside the temple system. A gentile can go so far Hebrew woman to go so far, but America go so far, but he could only go so far. He was still out. The running of the Temple. The rending of the temple speaks this that you can come before the Throne of God. By yourself. The deal with God.

I don't have and I do pray. That we would recognize. The wonderful benefit that we have.

Because the death of your son. Makes him the just one. In the justifier of all those who have faith in the Lord Jesus. Amen. Least. And let me sing.

One word theme song by Canada time with Christ on Read Christ, my savior, my god, with Christ, my savior, and my BBC.

We continue in 2 verse 46. There is a complexity that has to be addressed. The uniqueness of Christ. Is that his divine nature could not die. This is why. In The Gospel of John chapter 10, he says. I lay down my life that I may take it up again. No one takes it from me but I lay it down of my Accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. Out of all the loci. Systematic Theology, christology is always the hardest. Because how do humans understand this hypostatic Union. Hypo in hypostasis is a Greek word, hypo means under or beneath stasis means possession, right? And it's almost as if, when you say hi to static Union, it's like there's more than what you see on the outside. That's kind of like how you break that down. Jesus is the god-man and John, not John B and Jobe 9. I read this past week. There's a section. I think it's in Joe tonight. Where you said that, you know, how do I get right with God? There was no one that is between us, that can hold my hand and God's at the same time. Of course, we know that the truth is, that's what the mediator is, right? He's one with God and man, and yet over overtime that there's been all of these derelictions when it comes to people thinking about what crisis. Like, there was a man even in the first century at the end of the first century but the name is Serenity has. And he started, what was called, Dosa Tessa Mendoza tells them, simply means that God Appears Right. And that's what that word don't. That doesn't mean that he appears to be gone. And this is what's the rent. The has said, was that Jesus was a moral man, and when he was baptized, when the spirit Came Upon him, he became. At that point. And then when Jesus says into your hands, I commit my spirit deity lead because God can't die. The problem is, is that you don't have a God who died on the cross for you, right? As a rolly, trying to reconcile these things. Are there was a apollinarianism. There's all these heresies, you learning in history like a third-century guy and he said that Jesus was a moral man and that he had a Sweet Soul to him but he had a Divine in the left, right? And so but it's still not the God man. This is God, taking it upon himself, flash hypostasis there. Something under him could connected to his person and what he's like, What I want to talk about really an inverse 46 is the spirit that he has. There's all those sayings and we're not to talk about the same. But notice that comforting words of the Lord, the last thing that he says, father into your hands. I commit my spirit that Christ has nothing to fear as he goes from this existence into the next that should be encouraging to people like you and me as we Face death, people will do all that they possibly can to extend their life, right? And we have issues moral issues such as keeping people alive. And we're blast what? Technology? We can extend life. We have medicines. We have surgeries is all those things that we can do. And yet, as our life, any better and is the goal of human existence simply to rack up the years. I don't think that's necessarily the case, right? The purpose of life is that we come to know who we are. That were Sinners and that we looked at Christ and we put our faith in Christ that when we Face death, we're not fretful. Pauline Walker.

When I, when I saw her last and we know that the time was coming short and she said, well, faster, when I get to heaven, I think the Lord will have me up in heaven, pulling weeds. And I suppose, I want to remind you, right, before you meet the Lord, that your theology is wrong, that there's no reason heaven. But you'll be doing something right. Going on vacation. Many of you don't remember Helen molten right member Helen and has a little green stool. He was a very Vertically challenged lady was very sweet. Yeah, we were getting ready to go on vacation and I knew that her time was short and not that's the Dilemma of a pasture, right? What do you do? And I remember going to her home and I passed her in the hallway and she looked well she looked up. She looked up at me as I passed. What are you doing here and ice like Helen?

You're going to have it and I'm going to Florida. I don't know what to do. And she said you're going to Florida because I'm actually getting a perm today because I know that I'm going to die right now. So I'm getting my hair done and and then she kind of just kind of walked away and I was like yeah it's all good you know what we'll talk when we get to heaven and stuff I can alright everything's fine. That's not normal for people. That's not normal for people who have no hope, right? The gospel gives hope to people. That's why there's an assurance that works benefited like Jesus commits his soul to the father and there's a tender care of that. Believers have like the Apostle Paul your you know the verse in 2nd Timothy, I know whom I have believed and I persuaded that he is able to keep that which I've committed unto him, I guess the last day and even the earliest book written in the Bible Joe 500 years before Moses. Before scripture was even penned out. Has enough inside the God that he says, I know that my redeemer liveth.

Right.

And even though they're going to plant my body, into the ground, that I know that somehow in my flesh, I will see God.

The King dies. Open the pathway for you and I as the author and finisher of our faith that we can face death with calm Assurance as well. I don't have and I do pray.

once again, even uttering words, and speaking about the death of the Lord Jesus,

Is a man and puny upon things that are far beyond my own comprehension. Do people who have little comprehension as well. And that you've given us the word of God. You've seen fit to record this event, so we can find benefit for our souls. I pray. Father, is we as believers who have hope in the Lord, Jesus Christ that we recognize Laura. That death is not the king of tears to the children of God. But simply an Oscar that opens a door. That we can be in the presence of God as soon as we exhale, our last breath on Earth.

We are so grateful. Having a father that you have given us hope as we Face death in a certainty that we will not experience the second death in Jesus name. Amen. Please remain seated. The words are on the screen, feel free to join us or just focus on the words.

Crimson love. Waze.

Shameful.

Please stop him.

Savior song.

Yes.

Grace, Home Care.

yes, even He shed his blood.

Jesus shed for me.

Yes.

What is my big toe?

Human beings have a weird way. I love interacting with the gospel. I think of

Robbing the 20th century, the rise of technology, to make films and series and stuff like that, that we have seen a lot of movies. Pertaining to the Lord Jesus Christ and various people have played them. I remember back in the 70s. There was I don't know if it's the greatest story ever told, but there was an Italian made movie that played on Good Friday in it show, Jesus, he was an Italian actor and he was almost They emphasized is DD over his Humanity, right? And then you have the shows and that's positive now, which makes Jesus more human than Divine even though he's Divine. Is my conviction. That that is a foolish thing. It's a foolish thing to make movies and any of her greatest thing to be an actor that portrayed Jesus on film.

We forget that Moses misrepresented. God one time in his life one time. At the Waters of meribah. Moses was Fed Up. Because the Israelites were stubborn. You're always complaining. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah.

And Arthur staying at the rightful thing, right? You need water and stuff and so Jehovah says, go speak to the Rock and in his anger, he smote The Rock. And that one small act, I mean, let's be gracious to Moses. Write it would want that job. That one, small Act. Wiped out his chance to go into the promised land because he missed Rick represented. God once I think about all that is out there right now. And we think as a church that these things the media is more important to look at it on screen and to read the word of God but I pity the actor. Who misrepresents can you imagine that all these people throughout human history that you know that they want to play in a park, right? And they have good mode motive but you misrepresent him.

Think about all the people that want to be in movies and stuff. Did you know that John Wayne was? Did a cameo? And I think was a greatest? Or he was a Centurian that said, surely this man was the son of God, John, Wayne and how we spoke. You know, that in The Passion of Christ, when you see the hand of the Roman soldier holding that nail and a hammer coming down, that was Mel Gibson. He was a director but he he's going to have that spot, right? So in a sense, there's a part of us as human beings that want to be part of the story. And I'm here to tell you that, without being an actor, you are part of the story, whether you like it or not. It's a story that demands all of humanity to come to grips with who Jesus is and Who We Are. We're introduced in verse number 47, to a man who is a Centurian, right? I went to Century and saw what had taken place. He praised God, Things. Certainly, this man was innocent. The King James. I was certainly this man was righteous. Jesus is far more than that.

The Centurian would have been a man who had honor. He was a man who was familiar with brutality. He, he knew how to swell people that were rising up. This man was trained and violence. It was people like this man that you want to run when people are attacking, you does that make any sense, there people who get up every day and they serve in our own forces and they do things that you need to be done. And yet you don't recognize all the stuff that people do for you. So you and I don't experience are right. And so whether people are in the service or people serve as police officers and stuff, there's a certain aspects where brutality is needed in a world in which we live And this man would have been privy to the actions of what's been going on. The last couple days. He would have been aware that a Jew has been arrested and is standing before Pontius Pilate, right? And he knew that Pontius Pilate three different occasions. Said this man is innocent There's nothing worthy of that. The Centurian would have known that the century and witness first-hand about Christ's own and selfless demeanor on the cross. Looking at how Jesus responded and how people responded to him, and the compassion to a man who deserve to be executed, he witness the sun darkening. And he came to the conclusion that this was an innocent man. Let's not read into what he was saying. What's not all of a sudden making the same thing that he's part of the people, that's going to be an eternity. We would hope it's the truth, but if the conclusion that all of humanity at some point, it's going to Maid-Rite. Even though you say that Christ is a righteous man. If you read to the gospels, the demon said as much This man wasn't a cent. Write us up, right? Conclusion. But don't read into it because pilot said the same thing. At the end of the day, we're part of this drama of human history because all of mankind will make a confession before Christ Sunday. That's what Paul said, in the book of Philippians. Right, every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess the right conclusion about who Jesus Christ is if you were here last Sunday night. I thought about that. There's a Transcendent will that God has in creation. He created for a purpose to an ultimate and he establishes a decree to get that Transcendent will and that transcend it will of God is to create things and to have himself God In the Flesh, I'll take apart by post as space is my God, man. He redeems all things to himself because in the end of its purpose is not to save Sinners or to condemn or condemn centers in the same saint. I know that's going to happen, but the glorify himself.

You're simply part of the story. God makes much of himself and it is his intention. That all of humanity will bow and make a statement about his deity. I don't care if this side of the Grave, you're an atheist. I don't care if you're in a gnostic. But isn't an encouraging to you that we're going to be part of this of that that everyone is going to bow out and even the militant atheist will get on their knees and they will confess. That Jesus Christ is Lord. And even in their condemnation. They're going to be forced to say that Jesus was right and all that I get I deserve.

Right now we as Believers, we confessed in the Lord Jesus Christ but you will you will be on your knees at some point before the Living God and we're going to make the same statement. Write Christ is Lord.

Edward in his presence in heaven because of his race, unbelievers are going to confess his righteousness. Believers are going to confess his grace because God is about making statements about himself. Let the Centurian. Remind us how easy it is for us to come to the wrong conclusion. But you will say something the Centurian he confesses and, lastly, look at these last versus versus 48th and 49th and all the crowds that had assembled for the spectacle when they saw, what had taken place return home, beating their breasts. And all his acquaintances and the women who had followed him From Galilee stood at a distance. Watching these things. According again, Bishop Riley says as blind and mistaken as the conscience often is unable to convert men or lead him to Christ. Still is a blessed part of a man's Constitution. so, all of these people who are gnashing at his teeth, they had to come to grips with exactly what transpired And all the blasphemy and all the lack of Contrition and the alignment that people had at the foot of the cross, when they walked away, they couldn't do anything but recognized that they were part in it partly culpable of what transpired on a cross and they could not Escape that.

The difficulty is for a pastor at even for believers and, you know, this to be true.

Is that a lot of times we can be focused on the word of God. We affirm certain doctrinal truths. And yet, we don't put ourselves in the story. Or if we do put ourselves in the story were always the heroes.

What was the one that get it right? Right.

Even the ladies that were a far-off, even though they would have been followers of Christ, they were still part of the story. They knew that somehow part of them was culpable for the actions that happened to the son of God. This is beneficial for us, even as we close. If I ask you, when I say, where do you fit in the story? Do you see the heinousness of your son? How it affected all of creation? Do you see the whole in the rent? Pretended, that now, there is access. It must be torn down because now you have access and you got to do business with God. Does the King's death, does it give you comfort that you recognize that with the same assurance that that Jesus commits his soul to the father, do you have that?

You simply validate that you're okay with God because you make a theologically correct statement that this man was righteous. He is innocent. Certainly Jesus is Lord.

You beat your breasts. Do you recognize that part of your sin? A party or said, all of your said was part of the events. That's more accurate, isn't it? We sang and we pray and we walk out of here. Let us have Grandeur thoughts, but the king of heaven and all that he's done and our behalf. And haven't I do think I do think of how we read through the gospels, I think about what we do during the Spring in preparation of Resurrection Sunday, As we talked about the death of the Lord, Jesus Christ. We recognize Heavenly Father, even the transmitting of his guilt. His is our guilt to him and, and his righteousness, the process, as Paul talks about in 2nd Corinthians, chapter 5 is all of these things that we have come to understand because we have satin to the preaching of the word of God because we study the Bible for ourselves. And yet father, I pray that we would not lose the sacredness of the event. We would not Lulu's Heavenly Father. The great impact of what sin has brought upon the world. How the infinite God takes it upon himself? Human flesh to go to the The Very extreme, end of laying down his life in order to save people, I pray. Father that we would recognize we have a tendency of a be gracious to people thinking that a certain action designates that they become a child of God like the century on the proclamation of what he said was true, whether he believes or not, it is our hope, heavenly father that that people take more stock into what is going on and that the professions of their mouths, they match really the Brokenness of a heart That's a conduit to get Contrition of of the Soul, generates repentance and turning from the world and hope in the Lord Jesus Christ. help us heavenly father to to see ourselves in the story into end at the right spot. We're so grateful having a father for this text, the sacredness up and we would ask heavenly father that you will commit these things to our minds in Jesus name. Amen. Please sing and we'll sing one more song.

The cross. I cannot comprehend.

Do the perfect multi one, your son drink, the bitter cup reserved for me.

Your blood has washed away my sin. Jesus! Thank you. The father's right? Completely satisfied. Jesus! Thank you. Once your enemy now seated at your table, Jesus.

I am perfect sacrifice. I've been brought here. You've made your friend. Or ring out the riches of your glorious, Grace. Mercy and your kindness. No, no, you're good. I just washed away my sin. Jesus, thank you. The father's right? Completely satisfied. Jesus, thank you. Once your enemy.

Has washed away my sin, Jesus name. I thank you. The father's rights. Completely satisfied, Jesus. Thank you. Once your enemy now seated at your table, Jesus.

I share my testimony or parts of it a lot with you over the years and you know that I was a church-going kid when I wasn't lying to stay home and going from one place to another and then I end up in the service and I make a bet with a man at a bar in Germany to stop bothering me about The Bible and I'll read it. I'll just read it for myself. So what are you reading it?

I'm not even though I was still drink and I couldn't escape the truth that I was reading. I gave diligence 10 minutes a day, I can give that to God, right? And maybe he'll get off my back and yet the more that I read the Bible, the more terrified I was, and I was wondering why why do Christians read this, and it makes them happy and I read it and I can't sleep at night.

Why can something like this? Bring comfort and Terror at the same time and this is the benefit of a conscience. Because the Lord uses a scripture to awaken our conscience, you know conciencia is a Latin word for conscious concerto. The answer is knowledge and all of a sudden is an unbeliever, I'm reading the word of God and the operation of the spirit of God is bringing to my mind that I'm not right with the one who made this.

How do I get right with God and the church today? Why people to the church today? And when you read, really what the gospel is all about. The gospel is about God. Saving people who repent and believe that's simple and you might want to add obedience to that, but that's a result of repentance, isn't it? So obedient is not something that we do by ourselves, like Pelagius would have said that you can get things right, don't do it. Adam and Eve did just do what is right now. It's about coming doing out of oneself and going any other directions met the neue is not standing and saying, oh, I shouldn't do that. It's actually turning and going the other direction. And now, I have another view point in life, I'm going to put my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and I'm going to trust him wholly and he aged me and sanctifies me to the process of time. And that's what changes people's lives, right? problem with you guys, as you guys look familiar,

you come a lot, your church people, right? I would hope that you would know for certain see that there is a newness of one's life. And it's not just about being here on Sundays are being, and I'm in a place of worship. That is more than that. And you can respond by not again, saying I get it right cuz I just want to see who doesn't not. We'll talk later on. Do we have another song? I don't know if we have another missing one more song and then we'll we'll have our potluck and I'm going to ask Brian after he sang. Since you're already have a warmed up voice, pray for our potluck and I will go eat and then we'll Fellowship one more time in the word of God. Before we go home.
