Genesis 12: 1;4 Take that step of Faith

Psalms 16:8 “I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.”

Introduction

Matthew 7:7-8 ““Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”
In this text Jesus tells his disciples that just like a good father gives good things to his children, so will your Father when we sincerely ask, seek, and knock.
But ask with faith in knowing that God has already done it....TALK, PREACH…there should be no doubt
James 4:2-3 says that we don’t have because we do not ask, or if we do ask, it is with wrong motives.
No faith here more than likely personal gain or just being selfish....TALK, PREACH..
But the key to it all is your faith..
I know we have looked at once before but here it is one more time.... Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
TALK, PREACH....
And most of the times we do not live out our dreams or go for it because we are afraid of failing....TALK, PREACH..
We get so comfortable and thank this is all that we were meant to do and we haven’t even tapped into our potential. There is more to us than meets the eye. I like what 1 Peter 2:9 says “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;”
WORK TEXT
We belong to Him and our Father would never hurt or harm us. We get ourselves into messes and than want Him to get us out. All because we didn’t LISTEN TO HIS COMMAND AND DIDN’T OBEY HIS COMMAND. (REPEAT).
Once again God has no plan to harm us. Scripture tells us over in Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” , The NIV translates it like this, For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future
And if we say we believe in His word, then we need to stand on His word and have Faith in His word and be able to step out in Faith because of His word....

Body/Points...

I truly believe most people in here the world today and even in here and on Facebook, including myself, have not reached our max because of some form of fear and hesitation.
We have asked God, we have even knocked but because of the lack of true faith, we have not taken that step.
We may not want to put in that extra work. keep those late nights. Worried about what others may say if we fail.
No trust, no faith and no obedience, will get you no where.
Now if you are content with were you are, God bless. But I am willing to bet you are still selling yourself short of your true worth.
And we have a good example of someone stepping out on faith and having their lives changes, on this side and the other for the best.
Abram’s life is and should be a constant reminder that we truly do not know what He has for us but know that He has something good planned for you. I like what 1 Corinthians 2:9 says “But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”” ..TALK, PREACH...
Lets talk a walk thru the text..
In order to take that step of faith, there are 2 things needed....the commandment from God…(his word) and then we need obedience...
Genesis 12:1 “Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you.”
Here we see the commandment....

God commanded Abram to leave his father’s house to go to a new land

Abram was leaving 3 key things that causes us to feel comfortable. He was leaving family, his country, and possesions....TALK, PREACH....
What he didn’t realize was that God was calling him to a new life, a new beginning. What God has for you is for you.....TALK, PREACH
And then on top of that God gave him a promise, look at verse 2, Genesis 12:2 “I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing.”
God has made given us a promise, i said it earlier, plans to prosper and not harm.....
God has given us all a commandment, I pray that we are listening....TALK, PREACH....
After the hearing the commandment and recognizing God’s voice and knowing His promise, it’s time for us to do our part....OBEDIENCE....
Look at verse 4, Genesis 12:4 “So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.”

Abram did not know where God was leading him. He only knew that if he would obey, God would respond by making him into a great nation, making his name great, and even using him to bring blessing to others

Abram responds to God’s command with immediate action. His faith is demonstrated through action, not speech.

Obedience of faith is a submission to God’s will that comes from faith in God Himself. It is a response to the gospel that involves following God’s instructions because we trust Him.....TALK, PREACH...
Romans 16:26 “but now made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith—” TALK, PREACH…(WORK TEXT)
Look Abram heard the commandment, believed God and His promises and obeyed....
It’s all about His word, his word should stir something up in you and you should realize it all begins with His word...
Have you ever thought about making a change in your life? Did you truly pray on it and listen to God? He will let you know which way to go..
I am talking about your spiritual life and you this physical life…you need to take that step of faith in both....
Paul said over in Philippians 1:21 “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” ....(work text, preach....)
Well church don’t be fearful....know His word and His promises....give it to Him and let Him give you the commandment and then I dare you to trust and obey…and step out on Faith....
If you think about it He has never failed you yet.....TALK, PREACH, CLOSE.....
