Blessed Promises

John 14th chapter Jesus was speaking to the disciples about the fact that no matter what the future was about to bring no matter what they thought would happen He had promises for them to calm them in their hearts these promises are for us too!

 

Text: Read John 14:1-3

 

  1. A Home in Heaven!
    1. “Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus!

John 14:1KJV

1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

John 14:27KJV

27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

    1.  A promise of a home for all of us in Heaven!

John 14:2-3KJV

2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

    1. Peace that passes all understanding! Philippians 4:7-8KJV

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

  1. Promise of Healing, Help, and His Love John 14:12KJV

12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
           a. To those who are sick don’t give up God provides healing

James 5:14-15KJV

14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

           B. To any who need help He gives it freely!

Psalm 46:1KJV

1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Hebrews 4:16KJV

16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.


           c. He also gives us something else by His love!

1 John 4:10KJV

10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

  1. Jesus is coming back! To take us all Home with Him!

Beginning in John 14:3 we are reminded that He is coming again! Don’t lose hope because Jesus is coming back!

            Some people hope for money that the lottery will come in for them, others hope for love of another, some hope for other things but we have a Great Hope! Something to look forward to!

    1. Great Resurrection

1 Thessalonians 4:14-15KJV

14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

    1. Most important a meeting in the air! "Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." (1 Thessalonians 4:17, KJV)
