When we work for the Lord by spreading His word and bringing new people into the church that they receive salvation. We sometimes lose hope because we invite we speak the word of God we tell people about Jesus but there seems to be little to come of it!

Luke 8:4-15 (KJV)

4 And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable: 5 A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it. 6 And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture. 7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it. 8 And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

9 And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be? 10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. 11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. 13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. 14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. 15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

Jesus said there were many who will hear the word of God but how many will actually be overcomers?

1.  The seed sown

a.       When you sow seeds out there trying to win souls, trying to build the Kingdom of God you do more than you think!

Mark 4:26–29 (KJV)

26 And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; 27 And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how. 28 For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear. 29 But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.

b.      But ofthen we are discouraged because we don’t see much come froum our working!

Luke 8:5 (KJV)

5 A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.

Have you lost hope when you have invited people to church? This past week there was one family that caused me to want to throw in the towel. And I know you have also had that problem with others.

c.       Don’t blame the people (though we feel like it sometimes) remember it is the devil that takes it out of their mind!

2.  The seed sown among the rocks

a.       There will be some seed that you sow and think wow! Don’t forget seed grows slowly!

Proverbs 24:10 (KJV)

10  If thou faint in the day of adversity, Thy strength is small.

3. The seed sown among thorns

a.       Some seed we sow is killed where it is because of thorns out there!

Galatians 1:6–10 (KJV)

6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. 10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

b.      Then the problems the TV shows the habits, friends, problems things that still exist in their lives that they didn’t put away from their lives start to take over!

Romans 12:2 (KJV)

2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

c.       We must be careful or we can fall into the same trap!

4.  The seed sown in good ground

a.       We  will see the affect of serving him truly

James 1:22-25 (KJV)

22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

b.      Seed grows but we must have patience as sowers don’t give up just because someone else did.
