Jesus Calms the Waves

Mark 4:35-41KJV

35 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. 36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. 37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. 38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? 39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

The disciples had seen so far, 1.Jesus cast out a demon Mark 1:23-27 2.2. Simon’s mother in law healed Mark 1:28-31 3.3 He healed people with divers diseases, Leprosy, 5. Palsy Mk2 6. Man with withered hand.

Many others also were healed! Many miracles had been done. And yet they – we are so easily scared by anything!

Today Jesus was teaching and preaching. He said Let’s go over to the other side! Words often spoken!

Verse 36 There arose a great storm!

This storm must have been awful!

Like storms in our lives while we are beaten by storms in life we forget the power of God! And His closeness! We begin to feel like He is asleep, or our prayers just aren’t heard!

Psalm 44:23-24KJV

23 Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever. 24 Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression?

But He is ever near! DON’T FORGET THAT!!!

Romans 8:38-39 (KJV)
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

He can calm your, our worst storm in just a breath! “Peace be still!”

Verse 40 – 41 Jesus asked the disciples and He asks us why we are so fearful and where is our faith? The Disciples are scared and want to know what kind of man is this?
