Good morning, Church. I want you to imagine a runner at the starting line. He is filled with adrenaline, heart pounding in his chest, eyes focused on the finish line. He's not just hoping to win, he is confident in his victory. Why? Because he knows who he is, he knows his abilities, he knows he has been trained for this. He knows his identity.
This is the picture I want you to have in your mind as we dive into our sermon today, the last in our series exploring our identity in Christ. As a Child of God we can walk in confident knowing that the victory has already been won!

Our Identity in Christ

It is our identity in Christ that empowers us to walk in victory
That is why we have spent the last 5 weeks unpacking what it means to be a child of God and uncovering our identify in Christ
Because before we can walk in victory we first have to understand who we are and whose we are
2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us
2 Corinthians 5:17 NASB
Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.
A wonderful reminder of the transformation that takes place when accept Christ as our Savior.
We are no longer bound by our past
our sins no longer define us
we are not a product of our shortcomings.
When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are redeemed, and we are set free.
that is what Paul means when he says “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
As children of God we are called to embrace our position as children of God.
1 John 3:1 NASB
See how great a love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
As Children of God we are more than followers - we are more than servants - this scripture sats that we are Children of God!
That is who we are! Children of the Most High God.
This is not a position to be taken lightly. It is a position of privilege, of power, and of responsibility.
That is why we must embrace out identity as Children of God
As we learn to embrace who we are in Christ we will began to walk confidently in victory much like the runner we discussed at the beginning of the message

Walking Confidently in Victory

So what does walking in Victory look like?
We do not have enough time to discuss this in it’s entirety but i do want to look at three areas in our walk that we can walk with confidence
knowing that the victory has already been won

Overcoming sin: Romans 6:14

The first area has to do with victory over sin look at what Romans 6:14 says
Romans 6:14 NLT
Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.
Church we are not slaves to sin, we are under the grace of God. This means that we have the power and the authority to overcome sin.
We have overcome the power of sin through faith in Jesus Christ. It is important that we understand this is not something that takes palce overnight
It's a continuous journey of spiritual growth and transformation.
It involves repentance, prayer, studying the Bible, and relying on God's grace.
It's not about achieving perfection, but about striving to live a life that reflects the teachings and love of Christ.
As Christians becasue of the sacrifice Jesus made for us on the cross we have been freed from the bondage of sin and can choose to live righteously.
our victory over sin is a testament to the power and grace of God.
We also have victory over fear

Conquering fear: 2 Timothy 1:7

2 Timothy 1:7 tells us,
2 Timothy 1:7 NASB
For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.
As Christians fear has no place in our lives.
God does not want us to live in fear.
For a Christian not to walk in fear means to live life with faith and trust in God, rather than being consumed by worry, anxiety, or fear.
It means understanding and believing that God is in control, and that He will provide protection, guidance, and comfort, no matter what challenges or difficulties may arise.
This doesn't mean that we won't ever experience fear,
it means instead of being driven by fear we turn to God to find peace and courage in fearful situations.

Defeating the enemy: 1 John 4:4

We also have victory over the devil
1 John 4:4 declares,
1 John 4:4 NASB
You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.
As Christians we are at odds with the world - scripture tells us that the enemy comes to steal kill and destroy
but we have everything we need to overcome the enemy and the false teachers who oppose us
we do not have to let them get us down - we can walk victoriously and with confidence - knowing that we serve the god who has already conquered death and hell
who has already won the victory
Knowing that the victory has already been one should put a little swagger in our step
The message today reminds us of the profound transformation that takes place when we accept Christ as our Savior. We become new creations, no longer defined by our past sins or shortcomings. We are children of God, a position of privilege, power, and responsibility. As such, we are called to walk confidently in victory, knowing that the victory has already been won.
We have seen how this victory plays out in three areas: overcoming sin, conquering fear, and defeating the enemy. In each of these areas, we are not left to fight alone. We are empowered by the grace of God, the love of Christ, and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
However, it is essential to understand that this victory is not automatic. It requires a conscious decision to embrace our identity in Christ, to live according to His teachings, and to rely on His grace. It is a continuous journey of spiritual growth and transformation.
It is all about discipleship - about growing in christ
Now, for those of you who have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, I challenge you to walk in that victory. Embrace your identity as a child of God, live out your faith with confidence, and let the world see the transformative power of Christ in you.
And for those of you who have not yet made that decision, I invite you to come forward. Do not let another day pass without experiencing the transformative power of Christ. Accept Him as your Savior, and start your journey towards victory today.
Remember, the runner at the starting line is confident in his victory because he knows who he is and whose he is. As children of God, let us walk with the same confidence, knowing that our victory has already been won. Let us embrace our identity in Christ, and let us walk confidently in victory. Amen.
