For it is contained in Scripture: Look! I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and honored cornerstone, and the one who believes in Him will never be put to shame! So honor will come to you who believe, but for the unbelieving, The stone that the builders rejected— this One has become the cornerstone, and A stone to stumble over, and a rock to trip over. They stumble because they disobey the message; they were destined for this. But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the One who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.”

Biblical Election has five irrefutable facts

Application: This is the most pride crushing aspect - It Ain’t ME…Dying to Self....

God hardened Pharaoh’s heart Exodus 9:12 “But the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart and he did not listen to them, as the Lord had told Moses.”

Jesus cursed the fig tree Matt 21:19-20 “Seeing a lone fig tree by the road, He went up to it and found nothing on it except leaves. God saved us for Jesus Glory ALONE Eph 2:7 “so that in the coming ages He might display the immeasurable riches of His grace through His kindness to us in Christ Jesus.”
Application: God gets ALL the credit, Glory...
Promotes Holiness Through God Alone
Rom 6:17-18 “But thank God that, although you used to be slaves of sin, you obeyed from the heart that pattern of teaching you were transferred to, and having been liberated from sin, you became enslaved to righteousness.”
I am only holy IN/BY/ orTHROUGH GOD
I am not yet what I should be, but I definitely am not what I was!
Application: Works are from gratitude not for leverage [Get to]
Eternally Secure by God Alone
Jn 14:27 ““Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Your heart must not be troubled or fearful.”
Why worry when God has promised He will care for us...
Worry is interest paid on trouble before it is due....
Application: I didn’t earn it and I cannot keep it!
We GET to Serve Singular God Alone
1 Peter 1:21 “...through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.”
Col 1:5 “because of the hope reserved for you in heaven. You have already heard about this hope in the message of truth, the gospel”
What a privilege to come to church and fellowship in the unity of Christ!
Application: One God brings Unity
We are a chosen [genos] People group...
“People,” e.g., the Jewish people in Gal. 1:14 “I advanced in Judaism beyond many contemporaries among my people, because I was extremely zealous for the traditions of my ancestors.”

Ruling with Christ means worldly influence is second to Spiritual Realities...
Corinthian Church missed this...
Example: 1 Cor 6:1-4 “If any of you has a legal dispute against another, do you dare go to court before the unrighteous, and not before the saints? Or don’t you know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest cases? Don’t you know that we will judge angels—not to mention ordinary matters? So if you have cases pertaining to this life, do you select those who have no standing in the church to judge?”

Holiness is the Standard, Righteousness is its Product.
His holiness is His complete separation from all that is sinful
His righteousness is the manifestation of that holiness.
Application: We do what we do because of who we are....

Election and sovereignty are only sources of good. Election is not a decree to destroy, it is a decree to save. When we elect a president, we do not need to hold a second election to determine that the remaining millions shall be non-presidents.
