Two important things that we need to understand and respond to tonight...
Jesus is...

God’s Word to Us

John 1:1 NIV
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Word: More than something that is spoken…
To the ancients, it was also the expression of personality, character, and essence.
Word’s are the things we use and need in order to know each other personally and relate to each other...
Your words reveal the person that you are.
Luke 6:45 ESV
45 The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
So, Jesus as the Word of God, is the complete expression of God’s personality, character, and essence.
John 1:14 NIV
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Jesus did the most unthinkable thing God could do.
He became a human being.
And He actually came to us.

Jesus is God’s Word to Us

Word’s leave their source and move towards the speakers intended target!
Jesus is God’s word, that was projected towards us, His intended targets!

Will you open your ears and hear Him?

Jesus is...

God’s Light for Us

John 1:4–5 NIV
4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
Light is necessary to see. Darkness is merely the absence of light. Light provides vision and clarity.
But the thing about light is that it cannot come from within. According to John here, light is something that
John 1–11 1. The Magnificent Prologue (1:1–18)

does not belong naturally to humanity. It is a gift or a power from outside the human situation that confronts the world

Jesus as the “light” brings to this dark world true knowledge, moral purity, and the light that shows the very presence of God

Jesus is God’s Light for Us

Light radiates forward from it’s source towards the direction the source is pointed.
Jesus is God’s light radiating towards us. And this is on purpose.

Will you open your eyes and see Him?

Jesus is...
God’s Word to Us
God’s Light for Us
These descriptors of Jesus are meant to meet us where we are. They are meant to reveal to us that God wants us to know Him personally and wants us to live forever with Him.
They are meant to reveal God’s “grace and truth” to us.
John 1:14 NIV
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Jesus is the manifestation of God's Word and God's light that we must receive in order to have God and His Eternal Life.
John 1:12 NIV
12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—
So, when I say “will you listen?” and “will you see?”…
What I’m really trying to ask you is...

Will you receive Jesus?

“No matter what you’ve been through. No matter what you’ve done. Jesus has never once left your side. He Loves you. He sees you. He is there for you. But He only comes as [near] as you let Him in.”
