All In

There is a popular Video series about a sports team in the UK that follows a soccer team with an American coach. The team is mediocre at best. The soccer club largely has what it needs to succeed, including a talented superstar or two, but they don’t function very well as a team, they don’t believe in themselves as a cohesive unit. So, to motivate the team, the new coach writes one word on a yellow piece of paper and tapes it above his office door in the locker room. Throughout the season the word becomes more than just a word tied to a motivational speech, but becomes a way of life. The word written above his door is “Believe”

Salvation is only in Christ

Acts 4:12 “12 And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.””

Salvation is the mercy of God in Christ

Titus 3:5 “5 he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,”

Salvation is a work of Grace. A gift

Eph 2:8-9 “8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

The gift is receiving Christ(john 1:12). By receiving Christ part of what we receive is His call to come follow Him. There is no cost you must pay for salvation, but in following Christ there is a cost.

Matthew 8:19-20 “19 And a scribe came up and said to him, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.” 20 And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.””

Matthew 13:45-46 “45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, 46 who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it.”

To be saved, all that is required by you is to believe through faith

John 20:31 “31 but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”

To be all in with Christ is to follow Him completely and being willing to give up anything and everything for His name’s sake. To be all in with Christ means a public, community oriented commitment to Christ through baptism.

Gal 1:10 “10 For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.” Don’t have to be a missionary or a pastor to serve Christ, but everyone who wants to serve Christ should do so through His Church
