What do I believe God wants them to do? Repent and confess
Why? It leads them to the promise land
What do I believe God wants the to know? We are to live a live of repentance and confession

One of the things I know about you and about me is that in one or two or more areas of our lives we have a preferred future.
That where we are is not where we need to be
We are here but we want to be there
Anybody have that?
Some of us have that with finances we look at our finances and we see they are not where we want or God wants them to be.
We don’t want to be in debt
We want more money in our savings account
Some of us have this with health.
We look at our bodies and they are not where we want them to be.
We wish we were a few pounds lighters
Stronger or faster or had more endurance, that we don’t tire out to easily
THESE ARE GOOD THINGS TO SEEK AFTER AND ONE DAY WE WILL GO THROUGH THEM BUT TODAY I AM GOING TO REST ON A DESIRE WE ALL HAVE…GOD DOES ADDRESS THESE THINGS....BUT I WANT TO ADDRESS THE #1 AREA MOST IMPORTANT AREA WE HAVE THIS QUESTION WITH IT IS ONE OF THE REASONS YOU COME HERE ON SUNDAY, NO THAT THE ONLY REASON. ...WHAT IS THAT?
Many of us have this with our Faith our spiritual life, our Spiritual health
That we are here, wherever here is for you, but where we want to be is there.
For some us we want to be like Grandma, who has this deep faith, or our dad who is solid as a rock or a mentor or like a Biblical character; I want to be like David or Esther or Moses or Jesus or for some it is not a a person, just want to be like what God calles us to be in the Bible.
These are good things to
THE QUESTION IS HOW DO I GET THERE????
And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
HOW WE GET THERE IS TO LEAVE HERE…SOMETIMES LEAVING HERE IS HARD
WE LIKE HERE…DO WE HAVE TO GO THERE GOD!?!
OR WE ARE TANGLED UP HERE IN A MESS, SIN AS HEBREWS 12:1 SAYS IS WEIGHING US DOWN
TO GET TO WHERE YOU WANT TO GO, WHERE GOD IS LEADING YOU TO GO IS YOU NEED TO LEAVE WHERE YOU ARE.
THIS SOUND SIMPLE, IT IS SIMPLE IN PRINCIPLE HARDER IN PRACTICE.
“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.
For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.
CAN’T I JUST PRAY MY WAY THERE???
NO
PRAYER ALONE, BY ITSELF, WITHOUT ACTION, DOES NOT LEAD TO TRANSFORMATION
NOT EVERYTHING CAN BE SOLVED or resolved BY PRAYER, answered yes solved no…THERE ARE THINGS THAT ARE ANSWERED BY ACTION....
Or God has answered it by prayer but we don’t like the response.

FOR MANY THINGS IN OUR SPIRITUAL WALK WITH GOD REQUIRES US TO WALK
WE WILL NOT GET CHANGED HERE
It is not your intentions that determine your destination but your direction.
ALL OF US INTEND TO DO GOOD THINGS
NOBODY INTENDS TO HAVE THEIR LIFE GO IN DITCH
WE SEE THIS IN THE NATURAL
You can intend to get in shape, but if you never drive to the gym or put your work out shoes on it doesn’t matter.
You can have all the workout clothes in the world
You can have a membership at the best gym
You can have the best trainer in the world
Have healthy food but bypass it for unhealthy food
but it matters not if you don’t GO to the gym, go outside for a run, eat healhty…it is your direction not your intention
Same with our Spiritual faith.
You can have all the versions of the Bible
You can know Greek and Hebrew
Own a thousand Christian books
Attend a great church
IF YOU DO NOT WALK IN THE THINGS OF GOD YOU WILL NOT BE LIKE GOD
But if you don’t GO you won’t GROW
God calls us to action
THERE ARE 3 BIG PLACES GOD CALLS US TO ACTION
HE CALLS US TO ACTION TO MOVE WITH
TO MOVE FROM HERE TO THERE WE NEED TO LET GO OF SOME THINGS…GOOD THINGS IN OF THEMSELVES AND SIN.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
I would contend that some of the good things are SIN things not because they are sinful but because GOD TOLD YOU OR ME NO
So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.

I saw this all time as a youth pastor with families and as an adult male who likes sports
Is playing SPORTS or watching SPORT bad??
Yes, it is the to watch the STEELERS IS BAD!

BUT IF GOD SAID DON’T PLAY THE SPORT OR SIGN UP TO PLAY AND YOU PLAY THE SPORT IS IT SINFUL?
IT IS NOT THE SPORT BUT THAT YOU DID NOT OBEY GOD
I saw this all the time as a youth pastor and as an adult who likes sports
Let’s get them in a small group....they can’t, sports …youth group on Sunday…they can’t, sports....church on Sunday…they can’t, sports
YOU ARE REAPING WHAT YOU ARE SOWING
Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.
For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
The problem is not the child’s fault persay but the parents because you are discipling them in the ways of the WORLD and NOT the LORD and have sown a SEEDS of DISOBEDIANCE
This is true of me…God can say to me enough is enough with SPORTS your family needs you
There are things in our life that God says: DO or DON’T DO NOT BECAUSE HE IS MEAN BECAUSE HE WANTS YOU TO HAVE LIFE AND BE TRANFORMED FROM ONE DEGREEE OF GLORY TO THE NEXT.
THIS IS ALSO HOW WE GET VICTORY OVER OUR SINS…HOW WE GET VICTORY OVER OUR SINS IS NOT JUST STANDING UP AND FIGHTING…ITS MOVING AND NOT FIGHTING.... NOT JUST CONFESSING
THOUGH THERE IS HEALING POWER IN CONFESSION
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
THAT IS A STEP
OFTEN THE SINS WE COMMIT OVER AND OVER ARE THE SINS WE CONFESS TO GOD AND NOT MAN…BECAUSE OF SHAME…everyone in here will be ashame of some of things we have done at times, but the group is level at the FOOT of the cross…what releases the power of shame is confession because it brings healing....not everyone needs to know.
SCIPTURE SAYS THERE ARE TIMES WE NEED TO FIGHT, WE NEED TO CONFESS… BUT WE ASLO NEED TO MOVE FROM HERE TO THERE
HOW?
DOING THE THING I HAVE BEEN PREACHING ON THE LAST 20 MINUTES WITHOUT SAYING THE WORD....A WORD OUR WORLD DOESN’T LIKE....
For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.

REPENTANCE??? WHAT DO YOU MEAN? I THOUGHT THAT IS WHAT WE DID WHEN WE CAME TO FAITH IN JESUS, WE REPENT FROM THE WAYS WE USED TO LIVE TO NOW LIVE A LIFE OF FOLLOWING JESUS…REPENTED FROM FOLLOWING THE WAYS OF DARKNESS AND FOLLOWING THE KINGDOM OF LIGHT
YES, I DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU....I DON’T ALWAYS STAY 100% FOCUSED ON JESUS, I STUMBLE AND FALL
HOW MANY OF US HAVE REPENTED AND STAYED REPENTED 100% OF THE TIME?
For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.
HOW DO I STOP THAT? HOW DO I GET VICTORY OVER SIN
CONTINUAL REPENTANCE NOT FOR SALVATION BUT FOR LIFE AND VICTORY OVER SIN
MARTIN LUTHER LITERALLY NAILED IT WHEN ON OCTOBER 31 IN 1517 HE NAILED TO A CHURCH DOOR DOOR IN WITTENBERG 95TH THESIS.
THE FIRST THESIS WAS
ANYONE KNOW IT? STRUCK ME WHEN I FRIST FOUND OUT?
1. When our Lord and Master Jesus Christ said, “Repent” [Matthew 4:17], he willed the entire life of believers to be one of repentance.
HE WAS GIVEN THE POPE THE BUSINESS AND THE TRUTH BECAUSE THEY WERE SO ARROGANT AND THOUGHT THEY HAD THE KEYS TO KINGDOM.... SAYING WHAT I READ IN THE SCRIPTURES IS THAT OUR WHOLE LIFE IS TO BE ONE OF REPENTANCE THAT WE ARE CONTINUING REPENTING FROM BEING HERE TO GO THERE
It will help us when we understand, know, and get revelation about what the word repentance means in HEBREW and GREEK.
HOW YOU GET VICTORY OVER SIN IS NOT JUST CONFESSION NOT JUST FIGHITING
THE WORLD FOR REPENTANCE IS HEBREW, ANYBODY KNOW? IT IS THE WORD teshuva (תשובה, pronounced “teh-shoo-vah”)
Does anyone know what that word means?
- IT MEANS TO TURN OR RETURN
To repent means to go back or to go somewhere
you were here and you need to go there or return to here
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.
You need to move from HERE to THERE.
let’s get practical
if the internet trips you up into sin…what do you need to do? move off the internet or get a filter
if your mouth gets you in trouble with certain people…you need to stop talking to those people
if you have an addiction…you need to repent…remove yourself from the situation
if you have unhealthy body habits you need to repent and stop buying those things…and move to the gym or for a walk
GOD IS CALLING YOU TO DO THIS FOR LIFE!!!!
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

YOU NEED TO MOVE AWAY FROM SIN
You have move and change your mind…sometimes these happen at the same time, different times, sometimes your mind changes as you move
Sometimes the reason we don’t move is because we like here
Sometimes we don’t move because we think here is not so bad
Sometimes we don’t move because we think we get victory over here…like I though years ago as a young man and the internet...
What you and I need is a changing of the mind to realize here is not so good, in fact very bad for oyu
The Greek for repentance is metanoia: it means to change your mind…this is a Greek culture where the logos for everything was the mind.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
You have stinking thinking and it needs to change
Where does God want you to repent?
Sometimes it is small things
Sometimes it is big things
Communion
Jesus left there heaven to be with us here to defeat the powers of here so we can have victory here and live with him forever there.
