James 3:3-6 (KJV 1900)

3 Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body. 4 Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth. 5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! 6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

1.  Who is leading your life?

a.      Are you led by God or have you allowed Satan to take control?

James 3:4 (NIV)

4 Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go.

Satan is able to take over the lives of many good Christians simply through their tongue!

b.       Have you said things that you regret? Would you be ready for judgment  today if God came for you?

James 3:5 (AMP)

5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and it can boast of great things. See how much wood or how great a forest a tiny spark can set ablaze!

c.       The words we speak can start terrible fires in our homes our churches our families that fire is from hell!

James 3:6 (KJV 1900)

. Not only the spoken word from the “tongue” but the words of our mind!!

Proverbs 10:12 (KJV 1900)

12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: But love covereth all sins.

2.   Can we be both Christian and sinner at the same time?

James 3:7-8 (KJV 1900)

7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: 8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

Some have tried vows of silence, as well taking it out but that does no good

a.       Many thinik talking good on Sunday is enough to make up for the things we “accidently” blurt out  on Sunday

James 3:9-10 (KJV 1900)

9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. 10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

b.       Are we able to live that way?

James 3:10-12 (KJV 1900)

10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. 11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? 12 Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.

c.       Do you say things that you wouldn’t say to Jesus?

3.   We are all to be judged sooner than we think! Were you ready?

a.       A lot of people have thought they were prepared and many will in that day think they are but they may not be as right as they think they are.

Matthew 7:20-23 (KJV 1900)

20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
