JOSEPH

Genesis 37:3 ESV
Now Israel loved Joseph more than any other of his sons, because he was the son of his old age. And he made him a robe of many colors.
Genesis 37:23 ESV
So when Joseph came to his brothers, they stripped him of his robe, the robe of many colors that he wore.
Genesis 37:28 ESV
Then Midianite traders passed by. And they drew Joseph up and lifted him out of the pit, and sold him to the Ishmaelites for twenty shekels of silver. They took Joseph to Egypt.

So Joseph found favor in his sight and attended him, and he made him overseer of his house and put him in charge of all that he had.

And Joseph’s master took him and put him into the prison, the place where the king’s prisoners were confined, and he was there in prison.

But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him steadfast love and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. And the keeper of the prison put Joseph in charge of all the prisoners who were in the prison. Whatever was done there, he was the one who did it.

1. How does Joseph's example inspire us to find purpose in our work, even in difficult times?

2. How can shifting our perspective to seeing our work as service to God rather than mere labor, help us find a deeper sense of purpose?

Colossians 3:23 ESV
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,

By recognizing that our work is ultimately for God's glory, we can find purpose and meaning regardless of our occupation.

Acts 18:3 ESV
and because he was of the same trade he stayed with them and worked, for they were tentmakers by trade.
1 Thessalonians 2:9 ESV
For you remember, brothers, our labor and toil: we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, while we proclaimed to you the gospel of God.

3. How can this verse guide us in seeking God's guidance and finding purpose in our work? says, "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans." (Proverbs 16:3)

By surrendering our work to God and seeking His guidance and wisdom, we can align ourselves with His plans and purposes.

4. How can the parable of the talents (Matt 25:14-50) inspire us to seek and embrace our individual callings, so that our work becomes a means of serving God and others?
