Theme: A God Who Unveils
Word for the Week is Omniscience: God’s infinite knowledge and understanding of things past, present, and future.
Memory verse: Hebrews 4:13 “And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.”
Essence of the text in a sentence: The king of Babylon had a disturbing dream that no one was able to reveal except the LORD God.
Proposition: People face challenges that disturb them but as Christians we should testify that our God is able.
Objective: I want to in attendance to change their message to match God’s story.
Sermon Passage: Daniel 2:27-30
Daniel 2:27–30 NKJV
Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, “The secret which the king has demanded, the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, and the soothsayers cannot declare to the king. But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will be in the latter days. Your dream, and the visions of your head upon your bed, were these: As for you, O king, thoughts came to your mind while on your bed, about what would come to pass after this; and He who reveals secrets has made known to you what will be. But as for me, this secret has not been revealed to me because I have more wisdom than anyone living, but for our sakes who make known the interpretation to the king, and that you may know the thoughts of your heart.

I. THE SITUATION

A. HIS DREAD

Daniel 2:1 NKJV
Now in the second year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams; and his spirit was so troubled that his sleep left him.
The king has a disturbing dream.

B. HIS DEMAND

Daniel 2:2 NKJV
Then the king gave the command to call the magicians, the astrologers, the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans to tell the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.
The king calls for his wise men and commands them to tell him what he has dreamed and what it means

C. HIS DECREE

Because the wise men are unable to do this, they are sentenced to death.
Daniel 2:13 NKJV
So the decree went out, and they began killing the wise men; and they sought Daniel and his companions, to kill them.

D. THE DILEMMA

THE PEOPLE OF GOD IN THIS WORLD BUT NOT OF THIS WORLD BUT THE SENTENCE OF DEATH WAS ON THEM TOO
Jeremiah 29:7 NKJV
And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace.
1 Timothy 2:1–2 NKJV
Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.
Daniel 2:14 NKJV
Then with counsel and wisdom Daniel answered Arioch, the captain of the king’s guard, who had gone out to kill the wise men of Babylon;

II. THE SOLUTION

A. THE PRAYER

Daniel 2:16–18 NKJV
So Daniel went in and asked the king to give him time, that he might tell the king the interpretation. Then Daniel went to his house, and made the decision known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions, that they might seek mercies from the God of heaven concerning this secret, so that Daniel and his companions might not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

B. THE PRAISE

Daniel 2:19–23 NKJV
Then the secret was revealed to Daniel in a night vision. So Daniel blessed the God of heaven. Daniel answered and said: “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, For wisdom and might are His. And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise And knowledge to those who have understanding. He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, And light dwells with Him. “I thank You and praise You, O God of my fathers; You have given me wisdom and might, And have now made known to me what we asked of You, For You have made known to us the king’s demand.”

C. THE PROFESSION

Daniel 2:26 NKJV
The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, “Are you able to make known to me the dream which I have seen, and its interpretation?”
Listen to how Daniel answers the king
Daniel 2:27 NKJV
Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, “The secret which the king has demanded, the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, and the soothsayers cannot declare to the king.
Daniel agreed with the profession of the Chaldeans
REMEMBER, THE CHALDEANS TESTIFIED THAT THIS SITUATION WAS Beyond the boundaries of their expertise
IN VERSE 10 “THERE IS NOT A MAN ON EARTH WHO CAN TELL THE KING’S MATTER!”
Daniel 2:10 NKJV
The Chaldeans answered the king, and said, “There is not a man on earth who can tell the king’s matter; therefore no king, lord, or ruler has ever asked such things of any magician, astrologer, or Chaldean.
THE CHALDEANS HAD TO BE HONEST WITH THE KING AND WITH THEMSELVES. LOOK AT VERSE 11
Daniel 2:11 NKJV
It is a difficult thing that the king requests, and there is no other who can tell it to the king except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.”
THE KING WANTED SOMETHING THAT
EXCEEDED THEIR CAPABILITIES
THEREFORE THE KING WAS FURIOUS LOOK AT VERSE 12
Daniel 2:12–13 NKJV
For this reason the king was angry and very furious, and gave the command to destroy all the wise men of Babylon. So the decree went out, and they began killing the wise men; and they sought Daniel and his companions, to kill them.
DANIEL AGREED WITH THE CHALDEANS and HE INCLUDED HIMSELF LOOK AT VERSE 27 AGAIN
Daniel 2:27 NKJV
Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, “The secret which the king has demanded, the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, and the soothsayers cannot declare to the king.
DANIEL, SHADRACK, ABENEGO, MESHACK ARE INCLUDED
DANIEL ACKNOWLEDGE THEIR LIMITATIONS
DANIEL TOLD THE KING THAT THIS Challenge
THIS Complication
exceeds OUR capabilities
THIS Hurdle
THIS Hindrance
Outside of the range of OUR skill set
THIS Issue
THIS Impediment
Surpasses OUR limits
DANIEL TESTIFIED, PROFESS, DECLARED TO THE KING
I CAN’T DO IT
IN THIS LIFE YOU NEED TO TESTIFY TO THOSE AROUND YOU
I CAN’T . . .
FIX MY CHILDREN
FIX MY MARRIAGE
FIX MY SPOUSE
FIX MY LIFE
BREAK MY HABIT
CHANGE MY CIRCUMSTANCE
BUT DON’T STOP THERE. TELL THEM LIKE DANIEL SAID IN VERSE 28 LOOK AT IT.
Daniel 2:28 NKJV
But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will be in the latter days. Your dream, and the visions of your head upon your bed, were these:
I AM HELPLESS PHYSICALLY
CAN’T RUN NOR WALK, CAN’T BREATHE, CAN’T LIVE
“In Him we live, move and have our being”
I AM HELPLESS SOCIALLY
I AM HELPLESS ACADEMICALLY
HE can’t think, can’t read, can’t write
I AM HELPLESS DEFENSIVELY
HAVE YOU COME TO THE CONCLUSION
AS JESUS SAID “WITHOUT HIM YOU CAN DO NOTHING”
HAVE YOU COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT YOU CAN’T BUT GOD CAN
WILL YOU AGREE WITH THE PROPHET I CAN’T REVEAL SECRETS BUT THERE IS A GOD IN HEAVEN WHO CAN
ASK THE KING OF SYRIA, WHO ASKED WHO IS TELLING MY SECRETS, THE PROPHET ELISHA WOULD SAY THERE IS A GOD IN HEAVEN WHO CAN
If you could ask the three Hebrew Boys they will tell you that
He is able to DELIVER (Dan 3.17)
If you could ask Abraham he would tell you that
He is able to FULFILL PROMISES (Rom 4.21)
If you could ask Paul the Apostle he would tell you that
He is able to DO EXCEEDING ABUNDANTLY ABOVE ALL
(Ep 3.20)
If you could ask Jude today he would tell you that
He is able to KEEP YOU FROM FALLING (Jude 21)
TELL YOUR FRIEND I CAN’T BUT GOD CAN
Brag on the Lord abilities and not on your abilities.
Brag about His unlimited Power.
Brag about His sovereignty.
TELL YOUR FOES I CAN’T BUT GOD CAN
GOD GAVE
Prophesying that truth may be Unfolded.
GOD PROVIDES
Revelation that truth may be Unveiled
GOD GIVES
Knowledge that truth may be Understood
GOD COMMANDED
Doctrine that truth may be Underlined
JUST LIKE WITH DANIEL THERE WAS A TIME WHEN I HAD TO BE HONEST ABOUT MY SPIRITUAL CONDITION
I WAS FILTHY AND FOOLISH
I WAS CONTAMINATED AND CORRUPTED
I WAS POLLUTED AND PRIDEFUL
I WAS SOILED AND SELFISH
I WAS STAINED AND SINFUL
BUT WHERE I COULDN’T GOD COULD THROUGH JESUS CHRIST
What can..,
Wash away our sins… THE BLOOD OF JESUS
cleanse us from all corruption THE BLOOD OF JESUS
redeem our eternal soul… THE BLOOD OF JESUS
lift us from the gutter… THE SACRIFICE OF OUR SAVIOR
free us from Satan’s bondage.., THE SACRIFICE OF OUR SAVIOR
I CAN’T TURN YOUR DISCONTENTMENT INTO SATISFACTION
BUT GOD CAN
I CAN’T TURN YOUR SORROW INTO HAPPINESS
BUT GOD CAN
I CAN’T TURN YOUR TURMOIL INTO PEACE
BUT GOD CAN
I CAN’T TURN YOUR JEALOUSY INTO LOVE
BUT GOD CAN
I CAN’T TURN YOUR BURDENS INTO BLESSINGS
BUT GOD CAN
I CAN’T TURN YOUR MISERY INTO COMFORT
BUT GOD CAN
I CAN’T TURN YOUR DESPAIR INTO HOPE
BUT GOD CAN
