Genesis 6:9 NIV
9 This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God.
walked faithfully with God - Like his great grandfather Enoch who Walk: By Faith
Genesis 6:11–12 NIV
11 Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence. 12 God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways.
Genesis 6:11–13 NIV
11 Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence. 12 God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. 13 So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth.
How was God going to do that? Let’s fast forward to vs.17
Genesis 6:17 NIV
17 I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens, every creature that has the breath of life in it. Everything on earth will perish.
There are over 200 flood stories from cultures all around the world, some of which are very similar to the biblical story of Noah's flood. These stories share many common elements, such as:
• A warning from a god or gods about a coming flood.
• A hero who builds a boat to save himself, his family, and a few animals.
• The floodwaters covering the entire earth.
• The boat coming to rest on a mountaintop.
• The floodwaters receding and the hero and his family repopulating the earth.
Genesis 6:14 NIV
14 So make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out.
So make yourself an ark - Hebrew word for Ark is “Tehva”: meaning basket, (Moses) casket, or boat.
Then God gives Noah instructions on the size of the “Tehva” which helps Noah understand it means boat.
Genesis 6:15–16 NIV
15 This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be three hundred cubits long, fifty cubits wide and thirty cubits high. 16 Make a roof for it, leaving below the roof an opening one cubit high all around. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks.
If the cubit mentioned was the standard cubit of eighteen inches, then the vessel was 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high.
Dr. Henry Morris calculated that the ark was large enough to hold the contents of over 500 livestock railroad cars, providing space for about 125,000 animals.
Hebrews 11:7 NIV

Holy fear. Noah treated God’s message with great respect and awe.
Having a healthy fear of my Dad. - “Boys!” It meant stop right where you are.
Hebrews 11:7 NIV

built an ark to save his family
His faith was expressed in obedience.
Genesis 6:22 NIV
22 Noah did everything just as God commanded him.
What has God asked you to build by faith.
There are no overnight successes.
I was taught years ago it took 120 years to build the ark.
A tentative range of about 55 to 75 years for a reasonable maximum time to build the Ark. - Answers in Genesis.
Has God told you to build something. Then the years start going by. 1, 2, 3, 10, 30, 55.
Since nobody at that time had ever seen a flood (or perhaps even a rainstorm), Noah’s actions must have generated a great deal of interest and probably ridicule as well.
Do you know there will always be nah Sayers, haters, and others that will doubt you and what God is asking you to build.
Noah Built by faith. God said so, so here I go.
Hebrews 11:7 NIV

The people of the time saw what he was building.
1 Peter 3:20 NIV
20 to those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water,
Hebrews 11:7 NIV
7 By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith.
By his Faith he / became heir to the righteousness that is in keeping with faith.
The ark is a beautiful symbol of Jesus:
By entering the Ark, Noah ensured the physical survival of himself and his family. When we enter into saving faith through Jesus, we ensure our spiritual survival through eternal life with Christ.
When the destruction of the world loomed, God called out to Noah: “Come . . . into the Ark” (Genesis 7:1). God was with Noah and his family throughout that frightening year-long ordeal and protected and presumably comforted them. When we receive Jesus as our Savior, and Lord, He comes in the person of the Holy Spirit, and comforts and protects us.
The Ark had only one door through which Noah had to enter in order to be saved from the Flood. Likewise, salvation in Christ has only one door (John 10:9).
John 10:9 ESV
9 I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.
I am the door.
John 14:6 NIV
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Through me
We enter it by faith in Jesus’s once-and-for-all-time sacrificial death on the Cross and His bodily resurrection three days later.
Finally, after Noah entered the Ark, God Himself closed the door (Genesis 7:16). Those people outside who chose not to enter the Ark’s door were left to face the destructive force of the Flood. Today, we have only this one life to enter Christ’s door of salvation.
Genesis 7:16 NIV
16 The animals going in were male and female of every living thing, as God had commanded Noah. Then the Lord shut him in.
Then the LORD shut him in
It is not to late to turn to Jesus but there will be a time it will be to late.
Matthew 24:37 NIV
37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
Matthew 24:38 NIV
38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark;
Matthew 24:39 NIV
39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
Matthew 24:40 NIV
40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left.
Matthew 24:41 NIV
41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.
Matthew 24:42 NIV
42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.
