Title of the message this Morning

Unhindered Gospel

Week 4
Big Idea:
In the New Testament we see that the gospel is for everyone.
There’s no partiality, bias, or hindrance to who can receive the good news that forgiveness of sin and eternal life are available to all through Christ.
Isaiah prophesied about this reality in the Old Testament, and Jesus fulfilled it in the New.
“For all the promises of God find their ‘YES!’ in Christ.” (2 Cor. 1:20)
Prayer:
“Lord thank you for entrusting us with the light of the gospel.
Give us courage and energy to take the gospel to the very end.
Empower us, through the Holy Spirit, to share with anyone and everyone we can as we seek to see heaven bursting at the seams with people from every tribe, every nation, and every tongue under heaven.”
Scripture: Acts 28:28-31, Matthew 28:18-20, Isaiah 49:6
(All scripture taken from the NIV translation unless otherwise noted.)

Introduction

Welcome back church, today we are wrapping up our Unhindered sermon series with our final sermon, Unhindered Gospel.
Over the past few weeks we’ve looked at how the final word of Acts leaves us with the greatest clue for how to live as followers of Christ in the modern world.
“Unhindered” may be the last word of Acts, but it’s the first word for those who put their hope, faith, and trust in the risen King Jesus.
Through Him we experience;
The unhindered Kingdom
● Unhindered forgiveness
● Unhindered power
● And as we’ll see today, an unhindered gospel.
The word "gospel" comes from the Old English word "godspel," which means "good news."
It is derived from the Greek word "euangelion," which also means "good news."
In a Christian context, the gospel refers to the message of salvation through Jesus Christ.
It is the good news that God loves us and has made a way for us to be reconciled to Him through faith in Jesus Christ.
The gospel includes the truth that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose from the dead on the third day, according to the Scriptures 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
The gospel is also a call to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ (Mark 1:15).
It is a message of hope, grace, and forgiveness, available to all who believe (John 3:16). The gospel is the foundation of the Christian faith and is central to the teachings of the Bible.
And this amazing gospel, the good news, is unhindered.

Main Teaching

At some point you may have heard people say something like, “the light of the gospel.”
Or, you may have heard the phrase, “gospel light.”
Either way, the good news, the gospel, is often referred to as light because it leads mankind out of darkness and into the marvelous light of Christ.
And as followers of Christ, we are to spread the light of the gospel to all nations.

I. A Light to all Nations

Being a light to all nations is a phrase found in the Old Testament, particularly in Isaiah 49:6, where God says to his servant, "It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth."
In this passage, God is speaking to his servant, who is believed by Christians to be a prophecy about Jesus Christ. The phrase "a light for the Gentiles" means that the salvation that God offers through his servant is not just for the Jewish people, but for all people, regardless of their ethnicity or background.
As Christians, we are called to be a light to all nations by sharing the message of the gospel with others, living lives that reflect the love and character of Christ, and doing good works that demonstrate the love of God to those around us.
This means that we are called to reach out to people of all nations, cultures, and backgrounds with the message of the gospel, seeking to bring light and hope into their lives.
We are called to be a living testimony of God's love and grace, sharing the hope and joy that we have found in Jesus Christ with others.
We are to share the gospel, without hindrance, with every tribe, nation, and tongue under heaven.

II. Every Tribe, Nation, and Tongue

In the book of Revelation we read about the divine visions John had of heaven, God, eternity, and other things of faith.
Admittedly, this is a very difficult book to understand, and scholars have been picking it apart for centuries.
But one thing from Revelation that comes across very clearly is the fact that heaven will be filled with diversity.
Read Revelation 7:9
Think about this amazing picture of heaven and consider for a moment the type of people you run into from day to day.
Is your life filled with diversity? Is our city?
Does our community look like the picture John describes in Revelation 7:9?
These can be tough questions to wrestle with as we know that the gospel is for everyone -
but let this be a reminder to us that heaven will be filled with people from all around the world.
Heaven will be a place where we will all be able to look past our differences as we gaze upon the beauty of God for all eternity.
Heaven is a place where we will worship and praise without the hindrance of racism, classism, sexism, or any other “ism” out there.
It sounds like a pretty amazing place to me, and I think that’s probably why Jesus encourages us to go and tell everyone about the forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life available through Him.
He wants as many people as possible to find salvation and eternal life.

III. The Great Commission

If you’re not familiar with the great commission, it comes from the very end of Matthew’s gospel where Jesus says,All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
There’s a beautiful teaching about the command we see at the beginning of verse 19, where Jesus says, “go and make disciples.”
The important thing to remember is that this is not a singular destination of arrival, but rather a way of living out all your days on earth.
One author says, “wherever you are going, whenever you are going, and for whatever reason you are going, your assignment is always the same – As You are Going Make Disciples.”
Whether you’re in prison or politics.
Whether you’re headed to the same old coffee shop week after week, or you’re trying to become the next franchisee owner of a Starbucks.
Whether you’re a student or a teacher, mother or father, pastor or pediatrician…
The commission is always the same…
You are to share the gospel with others.
This is THE command.
This is THE imperative from Jesus.
We are not to withhold it from anyone or anyplace for any reason.
We are to live with eternity in our minds and the gospel on our lips.

Conclusion

What does it mean to live with eternity in mind?
What do you think it looks like to live with the gospel on your lips?
Pastor - This could be a great place to share how you personally share the gospel with others; The way you do it, the strategies you use; the words or questions you ask.
The truth is this;
Sharing the gospel with others can be intimidating and scary.
We can have anxiety over rejection, humiliation, and other things that can happen as a result of our evangelism.
But we are not to be a hindrance to the gospel…
We are to share the light of the gospel with others.
Here are some specific questions to get the ball rolling;
“What do you think about Jesus?”
“Do you attend a church?”
“Have you ever heard of the gospel?”
Jesus asked questions, and I think that it’s probably okay for us to do the same.
So, as we wrap up our series today, I want to leave you with this thought from the book of Romans;
"For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile." - Romans 1:16
Share your faith confidently and without hindrance.
The Kingdom of God has come, forgiveness is available, and the Holy Spirit will give you power to share…
Even to the ends of the earth if that’s how far you’re able to go.
For, “If the Son has set you free then you are free indeed.” John 8:36
Let us run the race together, without hindrance, without fear, and without reservation.
Let’s live Unhindered.
Let’s pray together.
Now for those of you who do not know Jesus!

Salvation:

The Word of God says in:
John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Romans 10:13
13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
If you’d would like to receive Jesus today, please pray this prayer with all of us:
Lord I believe that Jesus is the son of God, and that He died On the cross for my sins and His resurrection from the dead gives me eternal life. I ask forgiveness of my sins, and I accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Amen.
