Romans 2:1-16 God is Judge
Paul says over and over again that God is the judge of all man, both Jew and Gentile
We are judged according to our judgment of others (1-5)

When we start pointing fingers we no longer have any excuse before God
Everytime we expose the sin in others we are setting the bar by which we are measured (Luke 6:38)
We agree murder is wrong and yet we hold hatred in our hearts, we agree adultery is wrong and yet we have lust in our hearts, we agree stealing is wrong and yet we have coveteousness in our heart
God’s goodness to us should lead to repentance not to self-righteousness
I have never stolen- Praise God for his blessings in your life
I have never committed adultery- Praise God for the marriage God gave you and grace in temptation
I have never committed murder- Praise God for his peace in your life
The hard hearted saves up God’s wrath until the end.
Everything looks good now, but without repentance and God’s mercy there is no hope
God’s judgment against all people will be based on his righteousness not mans
We are judged according to our own works (6-11)

God will judge on an individual basis according to our own deeds (Proverbs 24:12, Psalms 62:12)
There will be no comparison in the judgment of God
There will be no Jew or Gentile before God
Every soul
Every man
God is not a respecter of persons
Did you live a life of patient well-doing seeking eternal life and rest in God (Hebrews 11 shows us what this looks like)
Did you reject the truth and live a life of unrighteousness before God
By this alone will God judge every person
We are judged according to the revelation given by God (12-16)

The Jews are responsible to the understanding God has given them and the Gentiles are responsible for the understanding God has given them
The Jew had the law but did not obey it
The Gentiles had the truth in their hearts and did not heed it
All are sinners before God (Romans 3:9-11)
The gospel of God has gone out to the nations from the beginnings until now that all should come to God through his savior Jesus Christ
There is no other way
The gospel is the good news of God redemptive love to sinful men
