John 14:23-30 [KJV]

Key Verse 30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and HATH NOTHING IN ME.

31 But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.

I.Departing Instructions

a. In verses 23-25 Jesus is in a discourse with the twelve about true obedience and what it means to truly follow Him, to follow His explicit instructions

1.Those that do not live the commandments are not a possession of God but are contrary to the will and commandments of God. They have no interest in doing what the God.[I’ll do it my way is what the pseudo-Christian says in response to this and even some of so called Christians]Do we really love Jesus to point that we would do exactly what He tells us to?

b. In verse 26 He also tells them that He is going away, but the Father is going to send the Comforter which is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will lead you into all Truth about the Father and how you should see matters with your spiritual eyes. He also tells them that the Spirit will be an Advocate to you.

1. Those who rely on the Holy Spirit can and won’t have to worry about false accusations from the self righteous non-believer. That the true disciple can depend on the Spirit to strengthen and help when we need it the most!! We need to scream HELP!

The Holy Spirit has feelings and will not abide within or along side the willful sinner.

c. In verse 27, Jesus says I’m leaving My peace with you, not the peace the world gives, so that your won’t need to fear,

The Amplified bible reads [allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]

1.In 28-29 says if you really love Me you should be glad that I’m leaving, because is mightier than I am,

We all should be glad that Jesus left and sent us the Comforter to help and give us His peace in the time of trouble.

II. Jesus’ Warning

In verse 30, Jesus tells them (us) that ruler of this world is coming and has no power, nothing he can hold as possession in Him or anything in common or interest with doing the will of the Father

The Amplified Bible Reads [He has nothing in common with Me; there is nothing in Me that belongs to him, and he has no power over Me.]

"He hath nothing in me," Jesus said. That is, he had no hold upon Christ. Have you ever attempted to pick up a large object which had no convenient handles or grasping places on it?

Not that it was too heavy for you; it simply did not come supplied with "hand holds" on it. Such an article is difficult if not impossible to move without more hands than one person has. This is the force of what the Lord said about Satan coming into his life.

Jesus had done the necessary self-examination and found that there were no convenient grasping places for Satan. His loyalty was completely undivided. He had no personal affection for this world. His physical family was secondary when it came to doing the Will of the Father.

Heaven was more important than earth. The kingdom of God was esteemed by him as of more importance than any carnal pursuit. Life with God was better than life on earth. Earthly pleasure and worldly joy were relegated to negligible status. Satan could find no serviceable "hand holds" on him!

Does The Prince Of This World Have Anything In You?

Satan gains a possession on us because we love this present evil world, but we want to go to heaven. We are willing to surrender our convictions when they are challenged by our family or friends.

We permit affection for family and friends to account for much more than it should. The kingdom of God is important to us, but not so much as to require sacrifice of our time or money.

Earthly convenience and pleasure rate very high on our list of priorities, and worldly status, money and the things that it can buy, are influential in far too many of the decisions we make we have not given over to God or walked away from.

In Ephesians 4:26-27 it says, 26 When angry, do not sin; do not ever let your wrath (your exasperation, your fury or indignation) last until the sun goes down.

27Leave no [such] room or foothold for the devil [give no opportunity to him].

The word place is translated from the Greek word topos- which means place, room, quarter, license, and coast. In other words a legal right to be here

Some of us has given a room in your house to the devil, you’ve rolled out the red carpet and said come on in and now he’s taken over, tied and tangled up.

When it comes time to do the work God has called you to do, you can’t, because Satan comes and yanks the leash his possession in you

Don’t give Satan an opportunity to operate in you, In Gen 4:7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth (continually lies in wait and waits for an opportunity at the door of your soul). And unto thee [shall be] his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

Cain allowed Satan rule on the throne and allowed him to operate through the door of his soul and because he did killed his brother Abel.

III. Jesus Was Ready For The Coming Of Satan, And We May Also Be Ready.

Peter said, "Be sober, be watchful..." (1 Pet. 5:8). The Lord was prepared for Satan's arrival because he knew he was coming and did the proper self-examination to know his own state of preparedness for the fight. Each of us must do the same thing, and make the necessary adjustments for the inevitable arrival of the Adversary in our lives and the tests that he may put us through. If we will do this, then we shall also be able to say, "He has nothing in me...

Believers or , if you’ve allowed Satan to rule I’ve got good news. The good news is that you no longer have to allow Satan access,

James 4:7 says Submit to God, Resist the devil and he will flee.

My beloved brothers and sisters why don’t you submit to God today?

To you all that are not saved or know Jesus in the pardon of your sins, Right now is your chance to turn it over to God and submit to His will and way.
