Don't turn there.

What the Book of James has a lot to do with what Jesus said in The Sermon on the Mount?

James 1. Did I say 2? James Wan exit. Can you go back to that? Okay. Yeah it again not liking to title my sermons but we see this trials and James. Why do we go through trials for growth in Christian maturity? And there's two kinds of growth is internal growth that those people here this morning. I pray that we grow and become fat sheep fat, children of God. And you know what it takes to do that, it takes going through a trial. You can avoid them if you if you know how to avoid them, let somebody know because they don't the rest of us have to go through them, but it is for growth in the Christian maturity. I think you can go to the next slide play. I'm getting new to this whole, this thing. I remember doing this before and I think Jeremy told me he says, you can't do that. He said you're bad at that. You just need the Bible and that's it. So you're probably thinking we all set we going today. Okay. In figuring out for claiming all the stuff. So let's pray then. We'll jump dive into the book of James. Father God, thank you so much this morning that we can share communion as a family Lord. We shared a meal together. With one another and with you, in the same way that you shared that meal Lord with the disciples. Father, I pray now that we would share and feed on the word of God, we would we be filled with your spirit Lord and in your spirit would give us understanding to see what you wanted to see. What Jesus's half-brother James wants us to see Lord. I'm here through a trial. Through the truth of your word, through the encouragement of your word, Lord. I just pray that all these things would result in us being more like you and in turn glorifying you Lord. That's what your son did. He reflected Your Glory of a good? Good father Lord. So I'll miss we just saying God you are so good and I'm thankful Lord that you called us sons and daughters and children. And you draw so near to yourself. Lord bless us this morning. I pray and glorify yourself in Jesus name. Amen. all right, so as I already loaded to this thing keeps shutting down. This is written by James Jesus's brother. It's written in a d49. Before the Jerusalem Council, the purpose is to expose hypocritical practices and encourage persecuted Christians who are part of the Jerusalem Church. This is, you know, after they've been dispersed and they all become Christians and then remember what that was like in the Jewish culture and also in a pagan culture when you when you said, just the same thing we do, I believe. Jesus Christ is my savior, I believe he died for my sins and just that act nothing of me. I'm dead in my sins. He saved me by his shed, Blood by his broken body. He he pulls out Grace upon us, you know, because people said that historically, at this time, they were wackos. And they were, you know, persecuted in all kinds of ways and there was spread out. So he's he's trying to expose some of the false teachings that were going on in encourage these, these dispersed Christians into a specific thing. And that's into growth is we saw into maturity into realized me know where you're at this morning. I know where filled filled with people that are new Christian people that are struggling, Christians people, that are seasoned old Christians, that are struggling Christians. I mean, with such a variety of people where we're at things, we struggle with trials and temptations. We go through but also the same God, right? All worship. The same Lord who's grace is enough. He is sufficient. So there's two primary reasons to study the Book of James not just too but I'll say to primary First, we're going to study James, to examine the relationship between faith and works, which we won't really get into that today. But there's a big part of the book that talks about that James refers to Faith. 14, different times in this letter which again, look for those repetitive words. Look for those repetitive teams. They're in there for a reason. It's not just by chance. You don't read the same word, faith, over and over and over and have games not trying to talk about faith. He's trying to get across something. and on the other hand, It's filled with commands to obey and I think I just said this last week, you know, looking forward to this and maybe it was a couple weeks ago, you know, we don't like the command to obey, or to submit or Surrender. But this is filled with commands, to obey out of 108 verses, the Book of James has 59 different commands Not a popular theme with people, you know, imagine if this was the only book we had, I think about that sometimes, what would it be seen? As you know, of course we know we've got the whole Canon of scripture and it all ties in together, but half half the versus have different commands. Obedience is everywhere. Genuine Faith acts a certain way and genuine fake Works in a certain way, okay, so we're going to seeing 1212 that's what we going to go through this morning and will probably be back up and do verse 12 next week as well. But we're going to add 12 to what we talked about this morning with this question. How does a Christian copelin trials? Will genuine faith is the answer. Okay. I love an answer before the test. I love it when they give you, you know, the multiple-choice exam. And then they say, okay, we're doing that tomorrow. You get to look at it. How does a Christian Copeland trials? Genuine Faith knows how to go through a trial. And I just said he talks about faith, a bunch in the book of James.

So let's let's read 1 to 12 and then we'll unpack it, I don't know if we'll go exactly verse-by-verse, we might be more thematic today but let's read James 1. James a bond servant of God and of the Lord. Jesus Christ to the Twelve Tribes who are dispersed abroad. Greetings, consider it all joy my brother and when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance and let endurance have its perfect result so that you may be perfect and completely lacking in nothing. But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God who gives to all generously and without reproach. And it will be given to him. But he must, he must ask in faith without any doubting for. The one who doubts is like the surface of the sea driven and tossed by the wind for that man. Ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord. Being a double-minded man is unstable in all his ways. But the brother of humble circumstances is the glory in his high position. In the rich man is to glory in his humiliation, because like, flowering, grass. He will pass away. For the sun rises with a scorching wind and Withers the grass. And it's flower falls off in the beauty of its appearance is destroyed. So to the rich man, in the midst of his Pursuits will fade away. Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial for once he has been approved. He will receive the Crown of Life which the Lord has promised to those who love him. If you want to see kind of a main theme of what we going to talk about today, look at verse 12. Part. A blessed is a man who perseveres under trial. That's, that's kind of what we're going to get that. We just read the Beatitudes, right? Blessed is the poor. Blessed are those who are poor in spirit. Blessed are those who are persecuted for my sake? Blessed are those who persevere under a trial? So trials are in focus for sure. And I think the idea here is to, to count and know and let trials have their work, because as evident here, you know, he says, we'll talk about this phrase, just a second. Consider it all, joy, my brethren. When you encounter various trials, as I said earlier, not if Every single one of us have encountered, various trials, so, count know, and let them have their work. Warren wiersbe says this. And if you notice, I like Warren wiersbe over a quarter-century of ministry. I am convinced that spiritual immaturity is the number one problem in our churches. And I think that it is still happening today, seriously, it's still happening. I think there are a lot of people that come to church. I think there are churches that don't teach the word of God but people go to church all their lives and I never actually grow spiritually into maturity. They never get strong spiritually. They just coast and honestly if we're honest it's our tendency You know, unless we work out, you know, how many of us would love to work out, probably a few of you. But, you know, unless you love to dig into the word of God and you loved the Lord, your savior and you want to grow and be more like him. Unless you have those qualities, I want to be like that you'll just Coast, you know, it takes effort. He says it's the number one problem in our churches, and that's just a quote. He's doesn't have to be right but it is a big problem. So he says, consider it all joy. You know. That's not.

maybe you've done this recently and I think I've done in the past, I'm sure I have when somebody comes to me with a trial, you know, and and I quote this verse to him You know, it doesn't help. Just saying that is not going to help you know where number is. I just said to Jeremy on the way in here.

I love this trial. No one does that either? A trial is a difficult thing that you don't usually in external circumstances. It is happening to us in typically, because of our faith in Christ, because maybe we're being persecuted because of him, it can mean other things outside of that as well. I mean life in general, but more specifically, because you choose to walk with Christ, maybe it's going to cause a trial to come into your life and it's an external circumstance. But if you just say that to somebody, it doesn't, it didn't help all that much. It's more of a of a mindset than an attitude. If you said that to me and I'm struggling, you said, hey, remember, count it all joy. My attitude is like, I don't want, I don't want this, I'm like to try, you know, so I said mine said, it's it's being prepared and will see how that's done here this morning. So when the trials, we're ready for him, we're ready for him in. And we're actually able to, at least think this trial is for a reason. I'll kind of Joy, but I'm looking and I'm listening to see why this trial is upon me because it's for a reason. It's always for a reason, it's not flipping. So count, it all joy is more about how we think it's important to remember that every single trial that comes our way. God is Sovereign over. He still Lord right in the creator of Heaven and Earth. The God who sent his perfect sinless, son. Imagine that a person that never ever send never even had a bad thought. That's the God. We serve a God, who is also in spirit? Dwells, is he stopping over at Riles? You know, he knows and cares about us and loves us so much. So here's four things that we can learn. In a trial that should cause us to rejoice in the first one is we can learn to grow in his likeness. And we can learn to grow in the likeness of will say, Jesus our savior, which what? You know, as I just told you he was sinless, he was perfect. But he understood it is as we just shared communion together and talked about the cross. You know, he knew going into that you talk about a trial. You know, he's fully God and fully man. The things he went through the trials, he endured literal trials, you know, any legal trial at midnight, which was supposed to be held. He endured that but look how he did it. He did it without grumbling without complaining, so it teaches us to be more like him to be more, like, Jesus to be patient. And of course he has. As, as we have scripture, we can see that Jesus was headed towards the cross for the, and to die for the reason, you know, to visit again, never get that straight to rise. Again, that's what he knew before us. We don't have that luxury. You don't always have that luxury, but we do have the luxury to know if a child of God and when the Trials come, we're still going through. Those trials to someday be with him. Does someday be have glorified Bodies In Heaven? There are no trials that I know of that I've seen or read about. So we know that there is an end as we just saying, even so come We should really want him to come. So we learn to grow in his likeness. And here's a, maybe a practical one. Secondly, we learn to trust in his wisdom.

God says this draw near to me and asked me to help you and understand why this is happening and to give you perspective on what you were going through and walk alongside you was the one who possesses all knowledge, Eternal perspective in perfect experience. As I said, he's Sovereign over our trials, right? So we learn to trust in his wisdom and wisdom to simplify that. It's a fixed righteous order to which the wise man submits his life. And where do we find wisdom? Not out there. Not, not from the non-believer, not from the government. You know, I'm being serious, not from the school system, the public school system, that's not wisdom. I think wisdom comes in and Brian just did it. He held up the word of God, we've got a whole book, that's actually called the wisdom books. Damien Kyle, one of my favorite pastors out in California. He says, the Book of Proverbs is like Jolly Rancher candies like hard candy, you read a proverb and you chew it over in your mouth, like hard candy because it's got a Thinkin. I know that the rise guys read Proverbs everyday all the time, they're either proverb a day. That's good to get that in your head, that wisdom.

Wisdom is also this to simplify. It is seeing life realistically from God's perspective.

And we'll talk a little bit more about wisdom. And it says it says in verse 5, you know, if any of you lacks wisdom, we're not quite there yet. But that's the second thing that we learn as we go through a trial as we learn to trust in his wisdom. Thirdly, we learn to rely on his resources. What's the number one resource again? Ryan held it up the word of God and prayer.

His Spirit right now. And I've said this over and over and over, but the word of God in the spirit of God together is going to grow a Christian. There is no circumstance, unless you're fighting that, unless you're running hard away from that, that you won't grow. If if you lie, if you follow the spirit leading and put your nose in the word of God, and don't just read it like a reading plan, but meditate on it and ask the spirit to show you an open, your eyes. I guarantee you growth more. Christlikeness. Number one, we learn to grow more like Kim, we learn to trust in his wisdom. So we have to rely on his resources here. and then, lastly, I kind of already said this, the fourth thing we learn to live for his reward, you know, that in time as we said, even so come, you know, we're not going to get Crowns. Like we might think like all these nice rubies and and sparkly Jewels, you know, I don't think that that's what's going to be, but the Lord is going to be proud of us. He's going to say, Well done, great job, come serve over here, come walk over here and have him for me. Here's your job over here, in heaven. Come do this. You know we live for his reward in the greatest reward of all that is just to see him face-to-face to see Jesus Christ one day and I think we're going to be broken, we're going to be in or not. We may be over filled with joy but at the same time I think our emotions are going to be a mess. But I think we're going to see Jesus Christ someday and I don't think he's going to be as handsome as all the pictures have he couldn't. He's going to be glorified. So he'll have you know he look better than than you did when you need when they saw. Glorified. But those four things, you learn to grow in his likeness, you learn to trust in his wisdom, you learn to rely on its resources and you learn to live for his reward.

So consider it all joy church and he's talking to Christians, it's important, my brethren. This whole book is talking to Christians, when not, if you encounter, various trials, RS3, says knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.

so, this Greek word endurance, It describes the quality that enables a person to stay on his or her feet, when facing a storm. And this is timely with a hurricane coming up. You can picture, you know, you seen that weatherman where he's based off like that. And then in the wind is coming, that is the idea of this type of steadfastness, like your feet are cemented, strong, and it in our context, anchor strong in the word of God, we're anchored strong in him. In these trials that come in the in the wind won't blow us over. You know, we're going to win a race often and in Pace off writing and not get knocked over. That's what this means. That says knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance, Then it says, and let endurance have its perfect result. Or have its perfect work so that you may be perfect and I don't know what versions you guys are using. I use the new American Standard but it means that you may be mature. Not literally perfect because there's none of us. One perfect person. Don't forget that that we would be mature and complete lacking in nothing. I take that as literal lacking in nothing but he just said that the trials that we have to go through. So that's part of my life but the way we go through, those trials means that were lacking and nothing because were braced off. Were firm in his word, conforming more, his likeness were relying. On his resources in his wisdom. So we have everything we need to go through the trial because they're definitely going to come. You can't try to escape trials. But instead, we should submit to them, and I'm beating the same drum submit to them. Why? Because we can meet you or through them. It's a chance for you to grow. You know, I guarantee every single one of us would like to run away from a trial. I don't like that. I don't want that truck. I'm going the other way. I'm not going that way because I see that that was dangerous, but that way means a trial, But it serves its purpose and it's for maturities for making us mature through endurance, steadfastness of patience. You have to learn patience. How many of you? I'm guilty of this say often or I think that the Lord is always going to be working on your patience. Raging, how many? Just a couple of us. I mean I constantly think like, man, I know, I'm kind of not her patient guy. The Lord has to work on my patience, and in the contacts here it is going through trials. But you know, you made us all unique me different. But I know myself, and I'm like me in the Lord has to teach me patience, and especially going through a trial, especially when you might see the end of it, I want to get there, I'm still working, I'm still working on your heart and your mind. I'm trying to get you through something here. Alright, let's move onto verse 5. So trials are part of our life. Absolutely going to happen then he says but if any of you lacks wisdom let him ask of God. So we're supposed to ask God for wisdom.

Through faith and through prayer. It says he gives to all generously and without reproach and it will be given to him. So that's a promise, is a promise. If you lack Wisdom, ask him, he's very generous, it will be given to him. That's not like, well, if you're good. You know, that's self-righteousness. That's a different type of religion. Actually, do you think I've been good this week so God is going to give me wisdom. That's a wrong way of thinking of Christianity. This is really wrong. I said, as he said he should ask God. This is the what we're doing when we let what we do when we lack wisdom.

So our own wisdom grows through three factors, and I don't know why. Today is just 1234123. So we drove through three different factors. The first one is knowledge.

If this is very practical. So I want you to think about a trial, maybe you're in the middle of one or your last trial or or one that you've experienced. When we walk through trials, we don't really know. All that is going on Dewey. You're focused on the stuff that hurts you focused on the part that is affecting you. You don't have all knowledge.

So, that's something that we can grow it. You know, is understanding, as I said before, asking the spirit to give you spiritual eyes and spiritual ears to hear getting into the word of God, in reading this chapter here. And when you go through, trials, count it all joy. So we don't have complete knowledge. We don't know what's going on. We also don't have perspective. Perspective is a good thing. You don't always see the situation from every angle if I'm looking at it from my perspective it's been down here you know hurting perspective this looking up like I got to get out of this. I don't like the prospective on me and I need to get out of it. I want to see it from the top perspective, you know? Cuz down underneath, no good. if it seems like a burden type of trial, You don't see that situation from every angle inexperience, this is really true of how long you've been walking with the Lord. You know how much experience you've had going through a trial. We lack experience and went to do our limitations and all three of these areas lead to limited wisdom. That's why he says. But right after, he says, when you go through trials, if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God. So wisdom is a big key. It's a big thing that helps us get through these trials. A big part of it. So compared to our lack of knowledge in our lack of proper perspective, and our lack of experience God on the other hand cuz that's his all knowledge. He has an eternal perspective. And in Christ, he has experienced every kind of test and has prevailed, right? That's a God, we serve. So why wouldn't we do not want to be close to him? And say, Lord, I need perspective. I need knowledge about this. Lord, is there something that I went through years ago that I can draw from because I've experienced this trial for you shared with me and experience from your trial, which I can just say, hey and sewing. So she had their trial and helps me

This God, who has all this, all knowledge in this eternal perspective. It says that he gives generously and without criticizing or without reproach, you know, we might say if my kids come to me. Come on. Don't you know that by now you should understand that your teenager, you know, You're 25, you're 30. You should know that by now. You're 60 shouldn't. You know that? You know, that's how we act but God doesn't act that way. He's not like us in that way. He's perfect without criticizing. I think he comes. Always gentle. And says I'll give generously without criticizing. I'll give you the knowledge in the perspective and experience you need to get through this trial, but ask for wisdom. That's our Park Church. You have to ask for it doesn't just happen magically

But I love that, that, that that's their specific. If any of us lacks Wisdom, ask of God in him given And it says, in verse 6, there's a little caveat here but he must ask in faith without any doubting for. The one who doubts is like the surf of the sea.

Going to continue on driven and tossed by the wind. So there's specifics in there. I want to point out the surface of the sea. And when are we going to see it Friday? Is it Friday? When the Hurricanes coming up through, we're going to see that. We're going to see big waves. The ocean doesn't make those waves. The surface of the sea, maybe the crest of the wave. The white part that doesn't get drummed up by the Sea. It says he has specifically driven and tossed by the wind. So the ocean becomes fierce but it's driven by something that is not from itself is from the wind. In the same way, if we are doubting, if if, if we're not asking in faith and we're doubting, if you think that you're pull yourself up by your own bootstraps, and in your humanist, humanism, you know, it's kind of a religion, you believe that you are smart enough and strong enough, and you can take care of yourself, that is a false, the wrong, you can't do any of that. If you're not being led by the word of God, if you're not asking for his wisdom, you're getting tossed and driven by something else and it's usually out there, usually the world. It's what you see on TV to what you're reading a book is what you see on the phone and we don't think so. But we are being driven and tossed by those things. And maybe some right now, it's saying not me. I'm strong in my character, I can control myself here and there, but you're being driven and tossed by something else. That's what that says, it says, without any doubting If you don't, you like the surface of the sea driven and tossed by the wind, something outside of us. And then it says for that man, ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord because it says verse 8, being a double-minded man is unstable in all his ways. I think that's harsh when I read it, I didn't you get nothing. You double-minded.

Of double-minded, man. This is something I had written down a long time ago cuz I had a bunch of notes written on this from from a long, long time ago. And I think this is something I taught her to rise but I think it's practical. A double-minded man. Is like a drug addict going to church or getting high and talking about God. Your kind of two different opinions. You know, you're not you're not really asking God to fill you with wisdom, you're not counting it all joy. When you go through a very destructive using something else, you're being driven and tossed by drugs or alcohol or anything else, it and then you want to talk about God in that same moment. Your double-minded you're not committed to one or the other. And remember that, God says he is a jealous God and not in the way. We think of jealousy. That's what I'm trying to get at. He loves us so much. He wants us to come to him. So I think being a double-minded man, from what I take it that it's not a good thing. It says, we get nothing and it says we're unstable. If we're double-minded. And then in this last section, it's kind of interesting that he turns the money, but I think in the context he hits us with these trials. He hits us with. If you going to a trial, ask for wisdom, and if you're not asking for wisdom you're this way. You're this person and then verse 9, he starts to talk about money, but don't you think that people try to get through their trials with money? They try to use their status somehow. So let's, let's talk about that. Just a second. And I'll say this statement trials don't care about your status trials, don't care. How important you are. Or if you're famous, if you're rich, if you're poor, trials, don't care, Trials, come to every single person. But they have a remarkably a remarkable leveling effect, don't they? You know what I mean? I'm thinking the guy Amazon Bezos, you know, he's the one of the richest guys in the world Elon Musk. If you ask them, they have trials. Billy Graham. I know he's dead and gone, John Piper, he's passed away. These guys that are that are very famous. You know I would say hi up pastors. I can guess what they go through trials. It's not the person that struggling with their faith, that that is a new Christian are not the only people who go through trials and every single one of us that goes to a trial at levels it out. And I think that that's where we can come together and relate, right? We can love each other as a body of Christ, because me, and we all go through trials. He says the brother of humble circumstances is to glory in his high Position. Will what's his high position? His high position is he's a child of God, he's poor but he's a child of God. I have nothing, but I am Jesus. You know, people like that, that they don't care. You know, and what does it say? What did I say a minute ago? God has Eternal perspective and I think we can have that Eternal perspective and Ryan Campbell has had this saying awhile ago and I love it. A kingdom into This Earth is just a passing thing until we get to heaven. So we have a kingdom in tality and we do the things. That matter, the things that count. Then, you can glory in your high position because I have a kingdom in tality. I serve a king and I can't wait to go see him and it says, in verse 10 and the rich man is to glory in his humiliation. I think that's interesting but it gives you the reason, you know, in any humiliation in the sense that like he can, he can throw money at it. I can say I got the special gold card, I can, you know, but in the end it's like you're just going to be yourself. He's going to waste all your money. If you're if you're trying to fix your problems just because of your wealth. And it gives a reason. That he is to glory in his humiliation because like flowering grass, he will pass away. It won't help. So he's saying, then he gives a description verse 11 for the sun rises with the scorching wind and Withers of the grass. We're kind of seen that lately. It's been pretty dry and it's flower falls off in the beauty of its appearance is destroyed. So to the rich man in the midst of his Pursuits will fade away meaning as he's pursuing, trying to fix his trials through his status of well you know, Well, I don't have, you know, that's a four-man problem. I don't have those problems, you know, I never run out of food because I'm rich, you know, I don't have the trial of hunger, think about it, I mean it but those things can be leveled out pretty quick.

One commentator said this, I don't have his name but he said the Cross of Christ Lift Up the poor and brings down the high. It is the great leveler of men. And that's what I just said. It's a leveling effect. Speaking of his friend and this is a different quote, a poor Christian A wealthy unbeliever remarked when I die. I shall leave my riches. When he dies, he will go to his. You know, that's the poor man and the rich, man, I'll read that again. A wealthy unbeliever said this about as poor Christian friend, when I die, I leave my riches meaning you take none of that wealth with you to heaven but when the poor man dies, he will go his wealth, you know. Cuz he he glories in his high position is Stan's with God. Not by anything he has done but because of everything Jesus has done and God has done for him.

In the last verse and will close a little bit more here. Again, kind of the theme of of what we talked about this morning. Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial So I think your ass we need to let God have his perfect work in us. No matter the circumstance and I didn't have this written down but I want it back up to it. This talks about Temptation and trials in the next week we'll get in to Temptation and I like to think of it this way to trial as an external circumstances happening to us physically and in my mind, I think of that hurricane, it's going to be a trial for some of us here in a small town, every single fishing Village. That's a trial is going to be difficult. Will we rely on God or will we will we get mad and curse in, in, in a try to do things with her own hands? Are we, are we going to be people of Prayer? And then temptation is internal, is something inside of us that affects us. So, maybe that makes sense. And maybe that doesn't a trial. I think they can overlap, but I like to think of him that way temptation is something that's within us. Cuz we're all born in sin, right? There's a darkness and there's a fire ice in fire in each one of us. That's the stamp down because the Holy Spirit lives inside of us, but it's there, it's in every single one of us. We're all the same that way. But I try, I was more external. So I'll finish with the this quote and one more thing Malcolm muggeridge. He says this. Contrary to what might be expected. I look back on experiences that at the time seemed especially desolating and painful, with particular, satisfaction sounds like a sick guy. Indeed, I can say with complete truthfulness that everything I have learned in my 75 years. In this world, everything that has truly enhance and lighten. My existence has been through Affliction and not through happiness, weather pursued, or retained. That is not the way we think. He says everything that has been a benefit to me has been through a trial or through pain or through Affliction. I know, I use that same message with my kids. And if we can think back to Hebrews 12, when it talks about the Lord discipline, Those whom he loves, don't get burned by that. He loves you, you're in the wrong, he's trying to discipline you. I know that's kind of not what we're talking about here. But if if you're I mean happiness, it can happen as well. But mugrage said it great, they're 75 years, he's learned more and its enhanced him and Enlighten him more to Affliction and not through happiness. Search, I'll close with this, we should set our sights above the stuff of this world and fix our eyes on God, and the knowledge of him and maturity that's found in him. Then trials will be a joy. You know, his grace mercy truth, all those things but it is difficult to push those cobwebs out of the way. But same ideas, high above, the stuff of this world. In fixing our eyes on God.
