Matthew 11:28–30 (KJV 1900)

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

One old hymn says “are you weary are you heavy laden tell it to Jesus tell it to Jesus” today there are a lot of people out there who've been carrying a heavy load lately, but today people want to think of God as some “Jeanie in a bottle” who they can get to just pop out and grant their every wish no matter how they have been living!

1.      He says come unto me v 28

a.       Those that labor and heavy laden “are you one of those?”

John 6:37 (KJV 1900)

37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

b.      I will give you rest not laziness, idleness can you say living in the way you are is an easy life?

c.       It’s time to give up and come home to Jesus!

2.       Throw off the heavy load you have carried and take Jesus yoke! V29

a.       When people hear of a yoke they get nervous “That means work!”

John 15:12–14 (KJV 1900)

12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. 13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. 14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

b.      Learn of Jesus!

1 John 2:6 (KJV 1900)

6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

c.       You shall find rest to your souls!

Philippians 4:7 (KJV 1900)

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

3.      His yoke is easy His burden is light!

a.       Who here has been carrying something that weighs too much on your soul?

b.      Who here has had trouble and needs someone to protect and guide them

c.       Who here needs a friend?

Psalm 27:4 (KJV 1900)

4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.

Psalm 27:6 (KJV 1900)

6 And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: Therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.

Isaiah 41:10 (KJV 1900)

10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: Be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; Yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
