Context: In response to Moses question to see God’s glory. His name is His glory,His nature,His character,His person,His doctrine, and His standard of living
God’s proclamation and the view of His glory happened in transit A fixed view of glory is yet to come The best we have in this world is transient
His attributes cannot be divided
How do want to pursue it and reflect it?
Hebrews 1:3–4 LSB
who is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power; who, having accomplished cleansing for sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become so much better than the angels, as He has inherited a more excellent name than they.
If we have a more excellent unveiled view of this glory by which we are to be conformed into His image
in light of this I want to show you
How Christ displays this nature/ attributes
How we are to be conformed by this into this personally
How as a church we are to reflect this image into which we are being conformed
God’s Compassion(Mercy)
The sympethetic consciousness of the distress of Mankind who remains under the harsh domain and reality o Sin
tender compassion like a father to his children
Hebrews 4:15 LSB
For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things like we are, yet without sin.
God’s Grace
The unmerited/ undeserved favor that has been bestowed upon Mankind without any inherent/precondition
On the contrary despite what was justly deserved
Titus 2:11 LSB
For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men,
God’s Forbearance
The long-suffering/ patient nature that doesn’t smite Mankind at every point of rebellion.
1 Timothy 1:16 LSB
Yet for this reason I was shown mercy, so that in me as the foremost, Christ Jesus might demonstrate all His patience as an example for those who are going to believe upon Him for eternal life.
The relenting of His just wrath so that Mankind can be saved
God’s Covenantal Love
A love that flows out of His own essence / unchanging affection towards Mankind that s bound by a promise that He has made
A commitment filled love to see its fruition at all cost
John 3:16 LSB
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
God’s Faithfulness
An absolute dependability flowing out of His immutability/ His trustworthiness that Has been proven throughout the History of the world founded on truth
A firm foundation of truth that will not be unshaken by anything
heb 6:16-20 “For men swear by one greater than themselves, and with them an oath given as confirmation is an end of every dispute. In the same way God, desiring even more to show to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of His purpose, guaranteed it with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us. This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and confirmed and one which enters within the veil, where a forerunner has entered for us—Jesus, having become a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.”
God’s Forgiveness
A granting of debt removal. A lifting of an unbearable burden . A payment for debt incurred by the lender.
Enduring the unpleasant outcome of debt ,guilt, crime, offense, rebellion for the sake of Mankind to wipe clean the slate
heb 9:11-14 “But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things to come, He entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation, and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy places once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled sanctify for the cleansing of the flesh, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”
God’s Justice
infliction of punishment/ demanding the obligated responsibility to be imposed. Upholding the charge /and the punishment for the crimes committed.
Intentional execution and oversight of the due punishment for rebellion.
All of these not only spelled out as principles but personified in Christ Jesus the God-Man Who is the only one that could
Put your trust in Him, live in light of HIs revelation .
