Theme: Certifiable Discipleship
Word for the Week: Lawlessness is living life with contempt for God’s law or living in violation of God’s law.
Memory verse: 1 John 2:17 (NKJV) And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.
Essence of the Text: Jesus stated to his listeners that not everyone who says He is Lord will enter the Kingdom but only those who do the will of His Father.
Proposition: Saints are called to focus on fulfilling the will of God and not their own will.
Objective: I want those in attendance to acknowledge their thoughts, feelings, and actions that are not the will of God, turn from those wrong ways, turn to God’s way trusting Him to give them strength to fulfill His will.
Sermon Passage: Matthew 7:21-23
Matthew 7:21–23 NKJV
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
After warning against the dangers of false prophets, the Lord Jesus c

THE RIGHT TITLE
LORD AND MASTER Heb. 'adon, means one possessed of absolute control. It denotes a master, as of slaves (Gen 24:14,27), or a ruler of his subjects (45:8), or a husband, as lord of his wife (18:12). Greek kurios, a supreme master, etc. In the LXX.
Isaiah 29:13 NKJV
13 Therefore the Lord said: “Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths And honor Me with their lips, But have removed their hearts far from Me, And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men,
Ezekiel 33:31 NKJV
31 So they come to you as people do, they sit before you as My people, and they hear your words, but they do not do them; for with their mouth they show much love, but their hearts pursue their own gain.

Jeremiah 14:14 NKJV
14 And the Lord said to me, “The prophets prophesy lies in My name. I have not sent them, commanded them, nor spoken to them; they prophesy to you a false vision, divination, a worthless thing, and the deceit of their heart.
Jeremiah 23:16 NKJV
16 Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you. They make you worthless; They speak a vision of their own heart, Not from the mouth of the Lord.
23 “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

Matthew 16:22–24 “22 Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!” 23 But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.” 24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.”
Romans 10:2–3 “2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God.”

John 5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
John 9:4 “4 I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.”
Psalm 40:8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: Yea, thy law is within my heart.
